They provide good team coordination. Working across several different time zones has been challenging, but they are understanding and responsive. We use Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have given us access to escalate any issues to their upper management.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We would appreciate more open communication regarding their shadow resources. Knowing what their roles are and when they are being brought onto projects would be helpful.

What was the scope of their involvement?

TekMindz provides frontend and backend development support for both Windows and non-Windows-based systems, using C# as the primary language for one aspect of our product. They use JavaScript for efforts that are enabling us to work on both task and exploratory driven work. They also work on proof of concept projects, as well as activities involving hardware, modules, and internal databases.

We're currently working with two developers, but we're able to scale up or down as needed.

We work directly with their team on a daily basis, keeping all communications channels open. They're good about meeting deadlines and being responsive, despite their distant location.

I can't think of anything. We're happy with the engagement overall.

Maintain constant communication, considering their location, since direct visibility of the hardware isn't possible.

Tekmindz developed four modules for our solution: POS, central office, warehouse, and integration layer. The integration layer empowered data movement between the other three modules and a backend ERP. These transactions created an audit trail that could be used to retrieve lost data if needed.

Tekmindz provided a project manager, two solution architects, eight developers, and two QA resources.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Their product was technically sound and behaved in a very predictable manner. Its scalability has allowed us to add several new components.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We had weekly and monthly meetings to monitor our status and ensure milestones were met correctly. They monitored bugs post-delivery and tracked them until closure.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their software architecture met all our objectives. The performance of their software architect was especially noteworthy.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Products would experience fewer post-launch issues if they logged their QA in a more constructive manner, one that prioritized functional understanding.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The finished product was shared with customer cocreation partners as part of acceptance testing and later piloted in real-world use.

The TekMindz team produced deliverables on-time and were responsive to our needs. In retrospect, both our requirement gathering and test phases should have been longer to minimize rush and anticipate additional delays from project stakeholders.

The team is very responsive and accessible after hours in the case of escalations. TekMindz was also able to matrix-in additional staff and subject matter experts as needed.

I regret that we did not send TekMindz samples of the exact hardware we were testing with as it may have reduced some testing work.

We work with TekMindz to enhance our mobile app with new features, and to support the existing users. We also have an administrative portal that they are maintaining and slightly growing for us. TekMindz staff fix bugs, deliver new features and release new builds to production.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

App quality - we needed users to successfully sign up. Implemented AppCenter for tracking failures and fixed them. Also, the team implemented a test plan. Portal usability and performance - Our program management team needed features and drove this work.

They've generally delivered the project on time. And our business waxed and waned a little instead of growing at a straight line. This meant varying the staffing level, and they understood that.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They had a lot of expertise in some of the EV protocols already used by the industry, from previous projects. That let us be more productive when engaging with them. They may not have been the cheapest in all cases, but they do very custom development tailored to our needs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Samin Tekmindz, Inc could have done differently?

Local, senior management to review code and keep developers on track is key to success here. Going light on management might save time but it incurs costs elsewhere. One trick is to keep the developers constrained. Eager, engaged devs are great but they want to bring in some new tech that sometimes contributes more headaches than it solves.
