There are plenty of branding firms out there. But how many of them will work with you to make a truly unique brand that will last? Or help you make your website stand above the crowd? At Salt + Studio, we specialize in both.
We are inspired by the ever-changing wilderness of our West Coast Home, Salt + Studio breaks from the worn track of boring brand design. We are dedicated to taking the path less traveled, or sometimes even bushwhacking it, to bring you the brands that matter.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the owner of a Holistic Nutrition Company
For what projects/services did your company hire Salt + Studio, and what were your goals?
I hired them to design my website.
How did you select this vendor?
I discovered them on google and thought their style matched my brand.
Describe the scope of their work in detail, including any steps and the final deliverables.
I hired them to design my website. I had someone who had half finished my website before and just wanted them to finish the design. I went over what it was already done and what needed to be finished. I had mentioned that I was looking to change my focus on the holistic nutrition world and they came back to me with a fully new brand design. They had a new logo that was more in line with the direction I was going. I was very excited and then they changed the branding on my site, Instagram, and Canva. They also changed some of my PFD programs to match my new brand. They even went over information about Instagram and how I could better build a brand and to think like a brand rather than just a person posting to Instagram. They delivered far more than I asked for and even more than I knew I should be needing.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I worked with two people from Salt and Studio. I worked with Cameron and Ali. Ali went over the identity design with me and helped figure out where the identity should go. Cameron worked with me on the website and the branding package.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Everything moment working with them was a success. I went in knowing nothing about what I needed and asking for a website design and getting an entirely new brand design that fit me perfectly. I am so excited about my new brand and how fancy it looks.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
They communicated with me quite a bit. We mostly communicated via text as that was easiest for me. But we also communicated in person and via e-mail. They presented information in beautifully printed sheets that got me very excited about the new direction of the brand. I don't know about their management style, but their communication with me was top notch.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
That they went out of their way to deliver a new brand even though I didn't ask for it. They just listened to me about how I wanted to take the brand in a new direction focusing on women's health and my current brand didn't really portray that. So they came to me with this idea. I could tell they were doing it because they are really passionate about branding. This isn't just a job for them.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing. This was one of the better experiences I have had working with another company.

Branding and Web Design for Winery
I'm No Better is a modern and fresh winery that believes that being truthful in its branding is more important than being the loudest or most colourful. We decided to really lean into that for all of their marketing and their product designs. This project was the idea that every year or release of bottles we would create a theme of "I'm no better." Everyone's a bit evil, and I'm no better.

Product Packaging for Cheap Queen Clothing
Our client came to us to create the branding for their consignment store of semi-affordable clothing that is chic yet not part of the fast fashion industry. They wanted us to come up with the name, branding, and some environmental designs as well. Once that was all done they asked us to create a lookbook for their seasonal line.

Branding for Holistic Nutritionist
Root Down Holsitics has been with us for almost a year. We first started working with them when they asked us to finish a half-done website. After meeting with them we discovered that their branding didn't really match up with their identity. So we came to them with a new brand identity and strategy during one of our meetings and suggested that they go in this new direction. They loved the new direction and we started a new site from scratch to match this. The client was so happy we have since taken over their marketing and product designs. When we took over their marketing they saw a 674% increase in sales in the first month plus selling out their first retreat. since then we have done a lot of brand management for them.

Branding and Web-Design for TCM Clinic
Our client came to us to create a brand that didn't follow the typical design rules of a Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic. She wanted to have the brand let people know the potential of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine to empower themselves both physically and mentally. Mental health was the biggest factor that made her brand stand out so we really wanted to focus on that. She wanted the brand to feel welcoming to all, but also show that she had a special interest in helping youth/teens and marginalized groups.

"The one thing that set them apart was the really clever and innovative branding questionnaire that they use with clients on the front end to get a really solid feel for what the client is looking for. I found that approach really interesting as it made me dig deeper for the look and messages I wanted to convey through my brand."

Branding and Web Design for Denists Office
Our clients came to us to create a brand for a dentist's office that had a fresh feeling compared to their competition. They wanted an identity that made their clients feel like they were coming to visit an old friend rather than going to a sterile boring dentist's office. They also wanted to focus on the natural landscape that surrounded the lower mainland.

Branding and Product Design for Apothecary
Our client had worked with us previously with another of their brands. They were approached by a consignment store they were selling at that they were expanding and had more shelf space if they wanted. They decided to create a brand for the apothecary products that they were making and asked us to create the branding and product labels/ packaging for their products. They wanted something that resembled the high quality of the products that used natural ingredients. They were making everything by hand and in limited batches so they wanted to be able to sell them at a high price to make this endeavor worth it.

Social Media Management for Where Wolfs?
After organizing a couple of photoshoots for them and upping the quality of their content they asked us to manage their social media content creation. We organized photoshoots in guerilla-style ways to keep their costs down. We used their friends and shot in public locations or their homes. We managed to add a lot of life to their brand through these photoshoots.

Lookbook for Where Wolfs?
We created a lookbook for a clothing company we had been working with. Once we did their rebranding we created a lookbook for their seasonal collection. The book was designed to inspire their audience. We organized all the photoshoots to be relatively cheap for them by taking all the photos ourselves and using models that were friends with the owners of the brand.

Branding and Web Design for Cocktail Lounge
Branding and product design for a dimly lit and bluesy cocktail bar. They wanted something that spoke to a fancier clientele. We created their branding and product design as well for their menus and lookbooks.

Web Design for Where Wolfs?
When we revamped their brand they also asked us to design their website. They wanted to go away from the focus on art and turn their focus on a streetwear style.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am opening a winery in Australia in Late 2023. I am a co-owner with my brother, who already lives down there.
For what projects/services did your company hire Salt + Studio, and what were your goals?
I hired Salt + Studio To create a brand guideline for us and to design our 2024 bottles. Our goals were to create something that was unique and would stand out on the shelves of liquor stores.
How did you select this vendor?
I don't remember how we found them; I think my brother found them. But we selected them because they clearly understood our vision, and we felt very comfortable letting them create a brand for us.
Describe the scope of their work in detail, including any steps and the final deliverables.
It took about 2 weeks to really get the ball rolling once we settled on them. They gave us a fun little questionnaire and then once we had that done they took about a month to create the book for us. Once we had the book created we wanted another look-book created for investors. Once that was all done they had created the wine labels for us.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with two people. Alicia and Cameron. I don't know their positions but we worked with Alicia early on a lot to figure everything out and then we worked with Cameron while creating the branding like the logo and everything else.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are still ways out from launching our company, but the brand has had some success with investors. It will be a while before we can even harvest our grapes, so we will know more in 2024
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Alicia was the one who we dealt with in this area. She was great, personable and very friendly. We communicated by zoom mostly, maybe some phone calls. They were always quick to respond.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
That Cameron invited me to a liquor store for a meeting to gauge what our competition is and fully explain what we needed to do to be unique.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I guess we won't know until the wine starts to sell. But I am happy with everything they did.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Our company was looking for a redesign of our entire look. Mainly our website, logo, lookbooks, thank you cards, and product packages.
For what projects/services did your company hire Salt + Studio, and what were your goals?
We needed a fresh feel because our other designs were not working. We had received feedback that our current branding was less than desirable.
How did you select this vendor?
We were recommended them by a mutual acquaintance.
Describe the scope of their work in detail, including any steps and the final deliverables.
They told us that we just had to simplify our branding. Our logo was too complicated and they suggested just making everything a little more cleaner looking. They worked on the main branding first, it took them a few tries but then we were happy with the brand. Once that was done they worked on the other designs. At that point we were happy with the agreed upon direction.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Two people met with us and then we worked with one Cameron from there on out.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
It took a few revisions before we were happy with it. It was just such an opposite direction that we came in that it was hard to change entirely. But ultimately, we were pleased with what came of it.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Their communication was great.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I have never worked with a branding company before, so I don't know its uniqueness. I liked how they gave us multiple design options to show us the different directions we could go.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I now see that what we came to them with wasn't the greatest approach. We should have let them take charge. I honestly wish they would have pushed back more from the beginning; it would have saved everyone more time.

I am a freelancer and my company is Arnica Marketing Agency
For what projects/services did your company hire Salt + Studio?
They came to us to get us to run their SEO. I asked them to do a rebrand for me and design a new website for a discounted rate on managing their SEO and running their Ads.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
They came to us because I had worked with one of their past clients who recommended me to them.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
They changed my branding and website that I had done. I just wanted a brand identity that matched my personality a bit more than what I had created on wix.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I worked with Alicia M and Cameron S. Alicia is the marketing Director and Cameron was the senior brand designer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
They created a basic site for me. with options to implement as my company grows. I was having a very difficult time coming up with a name. They met with me for coffee, asked a lot of questions and then provided me with some names a couple weeks later. I fell in love with the name Arnica as it matched my "spooky" personality but also was easily digestible for a professional name.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We talked a bit over e-mail and then met for coffee once. After that we continued to communicated via e-mail. It was easy and professional. They really understood who I was and made it a great personable experience.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their ability to recognize where I struggled and come up with something that I wasn't able to, but felt like it came from me. Which is exactly what I was looking for, a brand that matched who I am.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I don't think so, they were great, I will use them again as my business continues to grow

We are an apothecary business that was approached to expand our brand for a local consignment store.
For what projects/services did your company hire Salt + Studio, and what were your goals?
We wanted Salt and Studio to create a new identity for us that reflected our high end apothecary products. We needed a a book on our brand essence and also needed designs for all of our product packaging.
How did you select this vendor?
We decided to do business with this company based on the designs and the essence matched the vibe that we were wanting to put out in the world.
Describe the scope of their work in detail, including any steps and the final deliverables.
To start, they spoke with us and asked us many questions about what we wanted for our brand. They then would work on the booklet that had all the rules of what our brand would be so we could use this in the future. They would send us pdf's to make sure we were happy with the designs.
Once that was done, they started to work on the packaging. They discussed our budget and found out where to spend more money and where we would be able to save some. They came up with an idea to create little booklets to hold the soap, which was fantastic. It was very eyecatching and worked well as our hero product.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
one person worked with us. They were in charge of our account.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We were very pleased by their designs. The idea to creat the little booklets for the soap has been great for us and by far our best seller. We allowed them to take a more creative approach to the soaps. In the futre I think we would like to see what else they can come up with!
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Their communication was pretty good. They would keep us in the look a lot at the beginning. Once they knew we were happy with their direction we would hear from them less and less although continueing to send us PDF's to keep us updated.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their creativity. They have built something bigger and better than I could even imagine. Was very pleased with the results.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I would have liked to have more in person meetings rather than ones over zoom. But I understand they is time consuming.
Nothing but praise from the customer for the quality of Salt + Studio’s work. They not only completed deliverables quickly but also communicated with them well. The client was happy with how the team remained focused on their needs throughout the project.
