**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to Ruckus’ work, the client has seen an improvement in ad efficiency, achieving the same results while spending less. The team delivers on time and within budget and communicates effectively through email, phone calls, and Zoom. Moreover, they work quickly, understanding requirements fast.
"“Ruckus has drastically improved our investment efficiency.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of growth for Owlet Baby Care, a baby monitor company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We hired them for performance marketing.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ruckus manages all our paid media and advertising across Google Ads and Facebook Ads. Initially, we provided them with a marketing brief outlining our key objectives and budget. Based on our revenue and campaign objectives, they presented a strategy. Currently, we have an ongoing retainer project with them where they execute our paid media campaigns and manage our advertising accounts daily.

First, they provide strategies. The team reviews our marketing needs and presents recommendations and strategies on how best to deploy campaigns. Once we align on strategy, they manage our Google Ads and Facebook Ads accounts to optimize our paid media efforts.

Our team provides them with creative assets, including campaign ads, so Ruckus isn't responsible for content creation. Ruckus manages our campaigns, budgets, and creative assets. Although they've offered us additional services, we focus on Google Ads and Facebook Ads.

What is the team composition?

We usually work with an account manager who oversees the day-to-day work and two media buyers for our specific channels. Additionally, Ruckus periodically brings in a senior technical account specialist to help with additional strategies.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

Ruckus came highly recommended by another agency. One of our former marketing leaders had worked with Ruckus' sister company. We contacted the sister company, and they referred us to Ruckus.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent roughly $180,000 with Ruckus, including the retainer and media commissions.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Ruckus has brought a really good strategy. Thanks to their work, our ad efficiency has increased. Initially, we wanted to reduce our paid media spend while driving similar results, and Ruckus has drastically improved our investment efficiency.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They deliver on time and within our budget. Although we use project management tools internally, we don’t use them with Ruckus. We communicate through email, phone calls, and Zoom meetings to align on strategy. Additionally, we share documents through Google tools.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by the speed at which Ruckus can execute campaigns. When we kicked off the project, they spent a lot of resources to quickly understand our brief and business. From there, Ruckus delivered a strategy in just a few weeks and was able to launch the campaigns very quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The one thing Ruckus could improve is adjusting a strategy partway through a project. They’ve provided a really good initial strategy, but when we’ve needed changes or adjustments, their work has been less impactful than their original insight.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear in the initial brief and ensure that you and Ruckus are aligned. You should also allow for adjustments to the strategy throughout the process and get realigned as needed. If you need to adjust the project structure, have that conversation with Ruckus upfront to avoid delays or scope changes.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We initially hired them to generate leads from both buyers and sellers. Recently, we shifted our focus to general market awareness and corporate marketing support. So, we hired Ruckus to help us with digital marketing.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve provided on-site SEO services and have managed our PPC ads. On top of that, they handle or social media ads and manage profiles on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. They even help us with email marketing campaigns. They also revised our UI when we first started working with them.

What is the team composition?

Right now, we have five team members working on our account.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

I found them online. I had a few references, but I started researching digital marketing companies and was impressed with Ruckus’ website and the services they offered. They were the most dynamic team that we met with. I also the structure where we have access to all of the team members rather than just one main person. I also liked their aesthetic. They clearly had a passion for what they do.

We’ve spent about $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2020 and the partnership is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we started working with them, our website traffic has increased by 20% month-over-month. Our social media engagement has also increased. They also introduced us to Google Ads, and that program has been extremely successful.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Airtable and Slack to communicate. They’ve been very good at keeping things organized and staying on top of tasks.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I like that their senior executives stay involved with the account and I have access to them if I need them. It’s a very flat structure that gives us a lot of access to their team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No — whenever I’ve provided feedback, they’ve implemented it.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about you goals and the KPIs you plan to measure. We struggled with that in the beginning, and had we been clearer, they would have been able to hit the ground running.

Our whole value proposition is to change the way people feel and think about investing, essentially making them enjoy their investments. There are two industries that we’re disrupting, the first being gold investment, which traditionally deals with bars and coins. The second one is traditional jewelry.

My partner and I were bankers and investment managers in our previous lives. We sell our products a little differently from traditional jewelers. We sell by weight, and the more someone buys, the cheaper that weight gets. Every single one of our products and prices is linked to the real stock price of gold. The secondary market value for jewelry is extremely low, and people aren’t getting any material value. We’re connecting people back to the intrinsic value of the metal they’re buying, and 24-karat gold is one of the oldest investments mankind has.

After we sell it, all the jewelry appears in an online portfolio, much like a 401(k), and we will repurchase it at the stock price of gold at any time. We have a lifetime guarantee if someone decides they no longer want the piece or want to trade it for something else. That means that people can hold jewelry over a certain period of time, and that value will appreciate. It moves from a liability to an asset.

There are other places to sell jewelry, but people are at the whim of whoever is willing to buy it. With our jewelry, there’s a determinable price based on the market value.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

At the beginning of our journey, we engaged with Ruckus to help with branding. We have to be brand-focused people, given that jewelry requires a connection to the consumer.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We wanted Ruckus to develop a luxury-positioned, investment-driven, and cohesive brand across all the different mediums we were going to use to connect to our consumers. Even though our initial conversation was about branding, Ruckus also helps out with web development, digital marketing, and UX/UI design.

Their team worked with us on the logo creation, fonts, colors, packaging, and photography style. My partner and I have strong views on a lot of things, and it was definitely a collaborative effort.

We’re a direct-to-consumer brand. The first interaction people have with us is packaging, so we were very focused on that. We engaged Ruckus to distill our thoughts into a cohesive concept.

We also engaged them on the asset creation side. They have a media unit for the photography and video.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We’re based in New York and Palm Beach, so we engaged around five Miami and New York firms in our search. Clutch was one of the methods we used.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $350,000–$400,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with Ruckus started in early 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We came to them at the very start of our journey, and Ruckus got us to market. They built our whole website and the infrastructure behind it. We’re getting sales.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been great deadlines-wise. Everything takes longer than we’d expect as founders. Nobody works as fast as we do because we want everything done yesterday.

The packaging and web development took longer than expected, but we’ve had very good communication with Ruckus the whole way through on what we had to do and why some delays happened. The delays that happened with packaging were nothing to do with Ruckus. COVID happened, which impacted shipping.

On the web development side, Ruckus has gone over and above. We’re super happy with the product, and the scope has broadened as we’ve gone along.

When we jump on a call with Ruckus, it’s more of a summary of which team is working on which project and what they’ve done.

We’ve been able to engage Ruckus across all their verticals, which means that we’ve gotten more synergy than we thought we would. It was especially important to us because we were going to market. Businesses that are already mature may not see the same benefits that we have, but when we’re a go-to-market mindset, shortening the feedback loop and the timeline as much as possible is very important. We believe that that’s happened because we’ve engaged Ruckus on multiple fronts, and those teams are very interconnected.

Work and deadlines can always be improved, in my opinion, but that would be true for anyone. We have no complaints about Ruckus’s timeline management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When we were looking for an agency, we wanted someone that was big enough to deliver what we needed. We didn’t want a small local firm, but one that had worked on international projects. We also wanted a team that we’d be connected to, which was one reason for choosing Ruckus over others.

We had constant conversations with their CEO and relationship manager. That connectivity was important to us. Ruckus was able to deliver that big agency value proposition, but with that small agency connectivity. That was the difference-maker for us in engaging them.

As the engagement went along, the difference-maker became the synergy we developed on multiple fronts. We wanted our brand to be cohesive across packaging, branding, photography, and media assets that would be used on different social channels. Their web team talks directly to the asset creation media team without being the connector between those departments. That’s made my life a lot easier. They all know each other and talk to each other.

We’ve done engagements where we used other teams, trying to integrate an SEO team with a web development team. Everyone says that it’s going to be really easy, but we essentially have to distill the relationship to one call a week, where we had to translate everything for everyone, as the business owners. Not having to do that has been very refreshing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their web team is strong, and their media team is amazing. Ruckus has room to grow when it comes to hiring people on the paid and strategic SMO side. They need the ability to get print and digital media integrated at the same time as paid and organic social, so there’s cohesiveness there.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Stay on top of them. We’re big on having regular catchups, and we have 1-2 calls per week. We’ve created direct relationships with everyone at the firm. I feel connected to each person across the different distribution channels, allowing me to solve problems quicker.

Ruckus has very good, insightful people, so I get something out of it when I have direct conversations with them.

**The Review** — Feb 19, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus managed to help define a brand identity that brought cohesion to the internal team’s various opinions. They highlighted the company’s corporate identity while maintaining their individual products. The team was also straightforward in their communication, pushing back where necessary.
"“I was surprised by how quickly they grasped the complexity of our business and multiple markets.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Multi-Health Systems (MHS), Inc. We’re a healthcare technology company, operating within the behavioral analytics space.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

At the time, we were going through a transformation from a traditional publishing company to a technology company. Our products used to be printed and sold to psychologists and healthcare practitioners. But, the new company we envisioned would be technology- and data-driven. We needed to update our branding to reflect that change as we moved into the 21st century.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ruckus developed the branding for our company’s transition into the tech space. First, they started with a brand audit, looking at how we fared in the marketplace and our customers’ perception of us. We gave them customer lists and a brief overview of our market and competitors to get them started on their research.

The brand strategy and delivery came second and third. These included typeface, fonts, and logos that we could deploy in different formats. There was also some design for print materials such as letterheads and envelopes.

What is the team composition?

We worked with about eight people altogether. The three closest were the project coordinator, another individual, and the CEO who was quite involved.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

Our marketing team pulled a list of about 20–30 agencies across North America, and Ruckus responded to the RFP that we put out.

Besides the fact that they were a smaller team, what stuck out to me was their approach. Even during the initial pitch, they didn’t focus on telling us what they thought we wanted to hear. Instead, they were pretty candid. Our owner wasn’t very involved in the day-to-day, but he was still a part of lots of things. Ruckus was comfortable enough to push back against him because they were willing to do what it took to prevent us from derailing the project.

How much have you invested with them?

It was about $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The main project lasted between January–December 2019. We actually wrapped up just before the pandemic hit, so we didn’t do a lot of the launch items that we’d planned. We ended up repurposing some of their hours and money into other projects.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were a diverse business that had a corporate identity along with numerous product identities. That meant that we were struggling internally to agree across our market verticals. Different people in the organization had varying opinions on what was most important.

Ruckus was really able to cut through those issues and build an identity that allowed us to grow the corporate brand while still maintaining a level of investment in the individual brands.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very efficient at project management. We weren’t exposed to their internal project management tools, relying instead on a few on-site meetings and video meetings. They presented us with scheduled meetings and delivery dates and met those as expected.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was surprised by how quickly they grasped the complexity of our business and multiple markets. Their overall approach felt more consultative, though the team was comfortable pushing back because they were the experts. They just brought a refreshing point of view to the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not for this particular project. They recognized when they missed the mark on certain things and corrected themselves. If they felt we weren’t moving far enough along the journey, they’d push us, too. It was all very collaborative.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Listen to them. You’re hiring a branding expert because you need their help, so don't bring them on and then pretend like you know how to do their job.

**The Review** — Feb 12, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus has been a stellar partner throughout the engagement. They provide actionable feedback, are transparent, and address challenges thoughtfully. Still,  project management is their biggest strength; they’re always prepared for meetings and are very responsive.
"“No other partner I’ve worked with compares to Ruckus.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the e-commerce director of Death Wish Coffee. We invented the world’s strongest coffee and have had the best-selling ground coffee on Amazon for the last five years.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We redesigned our website but needed a developer to bring it to life.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Over the course of three weeks, we went through our existing user journeys with them. After that, they presented what they thought the building blocks of our redesign would be to us. We used Adobe XD to design the UX, then we submitted the designs through Zeplin and they developed the platform on Shopify Plus.

Now they provide ongoing maintenance support.

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact is Chris (Technology Project Manager), but we also worked with Jon (VP of Technology).

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

I found them on Clutch. I interviewed five different web developers and was excited about the possibility of working with Ruckus. After speaking with them, they followed up with me via email, but I accidentally deleted it. They ended up calling me again and we revisited the conversation. I appreciated that they continued to follow up with me. It was clear that they were the right choice for our business.

How much have you invested with them?

We expect to spend $110,000 on developing the website and another $25,000 on maintenance fees (approximately $135,000 in total).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2020 and we’re still working together.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We submit designs and they provide very direct and actionable feedback, which is amazing.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They set the bar extremely high when it comes to organization and project management. No other partner I’ve worked with compares to Ruckus.

They’re always prepared for our meetings and are very responsive. They use Asana, but they also happily joined Microsoft Teams, which has made communication so much easier. We get along really well, so even in stressful situations, we enjoy working with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

After our first MVP kickoff, they walked us through their entire process to help us understand how our work impacted theirs. By sharing their screens, they showed what their workflow looks like once we upload files to Zeplin. Their transparency helped us understand how our work impacts their timeline. Now we always know exactly where we stand.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they need to improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re looking to level-up your e-commerce brand and increase sales, Ruckus is the perfect partner.

**The Review** — May 15, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus created a modern design that utilized the scouts’ iconic symbolism. The designs have resonated well with customers, and have been used for various marketing items. The team collaborated easily over conference calls. They’re supportive and are dedicated to project success.
"“The work has been done, but they continue to follow up with me. They always ask if we need anything else.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of the Boy Scouts of America 2021 National Scout Jamboree.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

Every four years, we hold the National Scout Jamboree. It’s scouting’s largest celebration and we have over 40,000 participants over several weeks. Our model had been very traditional, and we intended to move into a more nontraditional mindset.  We hired them to create the branding for the 2021 National Scout Jamboree.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We refined the logo and branding strategy with them. They did everything from the colorization and art. Deliverables included a social media brand that we could use for marketing. There was also a logo that could be used on multiple apparel items. It boils down to a patch that all participants in the event can wear. The symbolism was very tight and recognizable. It also has an avant-garde feel. It’s unique, so people who see it know that they’re associated with our event. In the past, designs were simple and include silhouetted people doing scouting activities like hiking, canoeing, camping, and being outdoors. Ruckus went in a different direction and used the symbolism in our scout sign, which is iconic.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Micah (Director of Business Development) and associated with a number of different associates.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

They won a competitive bidding process. In late 2018, a group of volunteers put together a brief, or executive overview of our needs, which we then presented to 5–6 companies all across the country. We were very intentional about working with, or providing opportunities with companies we didn’t have working relationships with already.

In the spring, we engaged these companies after we sought out a handful that met our requirements. At that point, Ruckus was among our top choices. Then in February and march, we reviewed the concepts that each of the companies created.

How much have you invested with them?

I’m unsure of the exact number but it was between $50,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2018 and unveiled the final product in May 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their designs have resonated well with our customers. We did some release items and giveaways to promote the event, and some of our constituents saw them being used all the way in Brazil. It was pretty incredible to see the brand they created. It clearly has staying power.

We’re extremely pleased with the result that they provided. We ended with an extremely powerful product. Especially for the challenges we’re facing as an organization, they showed great foresight.

According to our brand center, the imagery Ruckus created has been used for print materials and videos, so it will definitely be seen. We even put the logo on a face shield because of COVID-19, and I keep getting calls about distribution. It was a giveaway item, but they’re being sold for $20–$30.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They were phenomenal. Before securing the work, they followed the instructions that we provided and met the deadlines, then throughout negotiations, they were highly professional. They delivered everything on time.

We had a very open dialog. They helped us directionally and helped brainstorm. It felt very organic and comfortable. We met by conference call.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The work has been done, but they continue to follow up with me. They always ask if we need anything else. That’s just incredible. In my mind, they performed phenomenally.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but we never met them face-to-face. To still accomplish what we did, is still pretty incredible. Wanting to have a tighter relationship is probably my old school style. Obviously, they still delivered at a high level.

**The Review** — May 7, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The brand recently launched, and the final assets have been well-received. Ruckus provided fantastic customer services and helped weigh the pros and cons of each option. They held weekly calls and met in person to ensure a successful engagement.
"“The final assets were great. The energy that they brought to the project was really exciting.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the managing director of operations for Luma Suncare. We’re a health and tech brand. Our flagship product is an SPF product. It’s a direct-to-consumer subscription-based model that enables consumers to get sunscreen in a more user-friendly way, while also triggering reapplication. It’s aspirational because of the unique packaging  and refillable with subscription.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We were looking for a partner to help us establish a brand identity.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They designed and developed different marketing collateral, brand assets, copy for our website, and copy for other aspects of our brand.

Their team leads really tried to understand the project and debriefed us, diving into out interests, values, and mission. They needed to know what we wanted to portray to the consumer.

We went through a few cycles and they would present different ideas to us. Then we would approve or disapprove, and provide feedback until we landed on the final assets ad agreed on the deliverables.

What is the team composition?

There were roughly 10–15 people. There were a few VP-level members who oversaw the engagement and proposal. Within that, there were leads from each department or skills. So I had a point person for copy, design, marketing, and so forth. We also had someone who coordinated across teams. Once we started thinking about future projects, we talked about partners for video in the future. Other worked with us on imagery and so forth.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We received lots of referrals, but we also conducted some Google searches. We probably met with 10 different groups, and narrowed it down gradually. From what we saw, they had a pretty solid track record. We hired them for their professionalism, how on top of communication they were. As soon as we made contact with them, they took the reins. They followed up with us and managed communication almost immediately. They had the skillsets we needed and were excited about our product and our mission.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $50,000–$70,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from July–August 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their overall delivery, and how they presented different options, was fantastic. They created a palette of different color options, and they presented the pros and cons of each option. They truly helped us determine what was best for the business. Based on our top choices, they gave us some feedback and we had an iterative back and forth until we got the perfect solution.

People love the results. We haven’t had any negative feedback so far. We’ve recently launched, and it’s been very exciting.

They were able to incorporate our feedback, and that really impacted the success of the project. They did a great job with that. They’re super hands-on, and they took the time to get to know our brand. We got to know their team pretty well, and we’ve done various projects with them.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

Their time to delivery was great, which we needed and appreciated. They were very responsive. We had weekly calls. At the beginning of the project, they brought in some of their senior partners to go over their services, skillsets, and capabilities. From that we put together a scope of work. Our second meeting was in their offices in New York. They were very collaborative and their whole team was there.

Once they gathered all of that information from us, we worked together on a daily and weekly basis to review everything.

We used a platform to store documents on the cloud. I had one main point of contact, and that really streamlined communication. It was really easy to get in contact with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The final assets were great. The energy that they brought to the project was really exciting.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only downside was that they were in New York, so videoconferencing could have been helpful.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear and direct with your needs. Outline what you’re looking for, and have an open discussion so they can provide some input. Listen to what they have to say and go from there.

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus delivered an aesthetically pleasing website as well as produced brand materials that exceeded expectations and received positive feedback. The team was skilled and accessible to support effective collaboration. They accommodated the needs of the client, which led to a successful engagement.
""They were on top of the project at all times, which made us feel like we were their only client."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a marketing director for a swimwear manufacturer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We brought them on to help us establish our company as an industry leader. Our organization pivoted to move into e-commerce but people in the industry hadn't heard of us. We wanted to step up and relaunch our brand and move into more B2B marketing.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ruckus helped us rebrand. At the beginning of the branding project, their team held brainstorming sessions. They came to our office to meet our team. We talked about everyone’s expectations.

Then, their team created different business materials. They recreated our logo, email signatures, letterhead, and business cards. They built a brand book and corporate sales deck that summarizes our company.

They helped us build out and launch our company website. Their team developed the site in WordPress, but they did custom work.

What is the team composition?

We had a day to day contact but worked with probably 15 different people over the course of the project. They let experts step in at the right time.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

I looked into a couple of past partner agencies and agencies that work with us for other functions currently. I looked online and found Ruckus. I contacted them out of the blue and we ended up going with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $75,000–$100,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in July 2019, and it wrapped up in April 2020. Our warranty period for them to tweak the site ended in May 2020.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our company had history and vision that played into the rebrand. Those components were hard to pull that out of our executes. In our brainstorming sessions, Ruckus got everyone involved and pulled ideas out of our executives and turned that into a vision for our company.

Everyone in our company was pleased with what their team put together. The company deck and brand book went beyond my vision. They delivered products that were professional and elevated our brand. The website looked incredible. Everything ended up being exactly what I was hoping for and more.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly meetings and communicated by e-mail too. Ruckus was organized and their team was process-driven. There was chemistry between us and their team, so the project was a joint effort. I went to their office to sit with their designers a couple of times. They also came and met with us when needed. Their team was good at communicating, so it was easy to work with them. They have talented people on their team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication and willingness to work with us were most impressive. They were on top of the project at all times, which made us feel like we were their only client. Their team was responsive and accepting of anything that I needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind. This wasn’t a big deal, but my main point of contact changed. One person stopped emailing me as much and another person started e-mailing more. I assumed that my point of contact changed, but it was fine.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to communicate your vision upfront. They’re responsive, so be honest with them. If you don’t like a product, communicate that to them. Keep expectations clear.

"“It was apparent that they really cared about getting to know our business and what we do.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work for Qualis Capital, an alternative investment platform. I’m the managing director of business development and corporate branding.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We’re a startup firm, so we were looking to Ruckus for logo creation, letterhead, a style guide, business cards, corporate brochures – any kind of startup marketing material we’d need to launch the business. We also needed direction on email marketing campaigns and templates of the sort.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

My team went to their office and did a large brainstorming session that helped us to come up with our overall marketing strategy.

We decided to bring them in on a continual basis for ongoing projects. Now that our logo is established and we have our style guide, color scheme, and the collateral we initially needed, we’ve moved onto content marketing.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 5–6 people from their team.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We found them through a referral from someone who’d used them in the past. Our team is spread out throughout the country, so we had a preliminary phone call with them.

How much have you invested with them?

I believe we’ve spent more than $25,000 and less than $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work together began in September or October 2019, and we’re still working with them.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our team is very happy with the results of their work, and our board is pleased. We’ve shared their work with a couple of close friends and people in the business, and they’ve been very impressed by it as well.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very organized and professional, and they set the right expectations. We have scheduled calls, and they’re readily available via email. They’re very responsive when I reach out outside of our scheduled interactions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was apparent that they really cared about getting to know our business and what we do so that they could help us tell the story through the marketing aspect of it. They didn’t just come to us with ideas of what looks good; they really embodied our message.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve done a perfect job.

Any advice for potential customers?

Listen to them.

""Their work is helping broaden awareness of our services."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work in outreach, marketing, and education for a local rape crisis and victim service center.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We hired them to help us increase local awareness through more interactive marketing.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They worked with us to create video content to raise awareness of our agency and the issues we advocate about. They were involved from ideation through the actual production of the films.

What is the team composition?

We had three primary points of contact, but there were probably around 10 people involved in total.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We received a grant and looked at multiple organizations that fit the grant’s guidelines. They aligned with our values the best out of all the vendors we looked at.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began our ongoing relationship with them in early 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re still waiting for the most recent video’s ad to finish running on social media to gather those statistics. However, since we released that video, there’s been increased traffic to our social media and website. Their work is helping broaden awareness of our services.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re wonderful. They were very organized, communicative, and patient with us, especially as we aren’t experienced with video production. The team did a great job of explaining their work step-by-step.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team at Ruckus takes the time to get to know the company and individuals they’re working with. As a result, the content they create is customized and personal.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think so. They were great to work with. Although there were bumps in the road, it was mostly related to receiving the grant money.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s important to be open and patient. Have trust in their expertise and know they’ll guide you in the right direction.

**The Review** — Apr 24, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Although Ruckus wasn’t able to complete the project due to unprecedented circumstances on the client’s end, the high-quality work they did was very valuable. The team understood and prioritized the business’ needs and goals. Additionally, they were an attentive, creative, and disciplined partner.
""Ruckus paid close attention to us as a company, helping us with our vision while offering their expertise."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a legal cannabis company that is no longer around. It was called Winterlife Cannabis.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We were looking to find an agency that would take this grey-market product and be able to envision what that market would look like in 5 years. I wanted to work with a company that was young and fresh, but still disciplined and organized.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I talked to Micah (Director of Business Development) about what the project was and what we wanted to do. We went to New York to meet with the team and they did a brand audit. They also conducted a survey of the industry to see what’s going on right now and assessed the competition to determine where we fit in.

They then took a look at all of our branding and led brand workshops for us where they helped us determine our target audience and vision. The team was about to start on other aspects of the project, but the investment we were expecting fell through.

This meant that they weren’t able to finish the project. Had everything gone according to plan, they would've done more work for us including logo and web design.

What is the team composition?

We worked with four main teammates.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

Micah was our main point of contact.

How much have you invested with them?

We ended up spending $40,000, but we had planned to spend $250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement lasted from about January–December 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I would work with them again in a heartbeat. Ruckus paid close attention to us as a company, helping us with our vision while offering their expertise. They wanted to help keep our brand true to us while making us commercially viable in as many places as possible, which was the ultimate goal.

They treated us very well and the quality of the work they did was great. I was happy that they were a younger company, which was important to me.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication was spot on. After we met with them in New York, we had conference calls to go over everything that they were working on. Given the three-hour time difference, they were very accommodating and willing to work according to our timezone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The two things that I appreciated about Ruckus was their discipline and creativity. They had a good outlook and understood what they were doing. The team was on top of their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I have no suggestions. All I wish is that we could’ve finished the project. I regretted that we weren’t able to do so on our side.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take your time and don’t try to rush through it. Understand that the process is detailed and it involves a lot of work. Ruckus is going to do incredible work with the information they get from you, as long as you are a part of the process.

**The Review** — Apr 21, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus’ campaigns brought more social media followers and interest to the art exhibit. The team’s success was informed by their quick turnarounds, dedicated work ethic, and constant communication. Their responsiveness stood out.
""They approached the project very strategically but didn’t hesitate to try new things."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the former creative director at an art gallery.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We needed a team to help us do digital marketing, set up campaigns, and organize events in our space.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ruckus provided a wide range of digital services. In addition to running campaigns, they managed our profiles on Facebook and Instagram. The team responded to followers in comments, crafted posts by taking and selecting photos, and invented hashtags for us. Whenever an opportunity arose where someone wanted to use our space to do interviews or special shoots, Ruckus arranged it for us on a schedule.

The team also hosted two events in our space around our exhibition: an opening event and a dance party event. They tried to reach out to possible collaborators and sponsors as well. A few went through, but others did not; I appreciated their hard work anyway.

Ruckus even designed and built our website on Wix. It was very simple, but it linked to a ticket portal that we built ourselves and integrated our digital campaigns. Everything was in one place and connected together.

What is the team composition?

I was working very closely with 3–4 people. When events happened, more people got involved.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

I googled them, and they came up first. I looked at their website and saw that they had a lot of prestigious brands they worked with. They also showed that they were the best fit in their proposal and responsiveness to my emails. When I went to visit their office to ask questions about their services, they answered mu questions gave me their pitch in person. Lastly, I was looking for small companies to work with. and they had 20–30 people. They had the right size, price point, and range of services.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $40,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project ran from August–November 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The campaign was successful. Ruckus built everything from zero, and we grew a lot of followers and people who wanted to come see our exhibition. I don’t have any metrics. However, I could easily see that they were managing a lot, but they remained responsive to all the followers that were interested in our show.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

Ruckus was very transparent. They made it clear who our account manager was. In some meetings, their CEO came in to give us strategic advice. We scheduled monthly meetings, but I was also texting my point of contact at Ruckus day and night. They were really quick to get things done. If we needed something done overnight, they tried their best to make it happen for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They approached the project very strategically but didn’t hesitate to try new things. They knew what they’re doing, so they never wasted time. I also appreciated their responsiveness to their clients’ needs and requests.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s hard to say. They were very successful in managing the project. I’d love Ruckus to have more people working for them.

Any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear goal of what you want, and let them support that goal.

For a few stages, they got our approval before going forward. They were very organized and efficient, there was always something going on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I can think of right now—everything was good.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Research other branding companies so you understand the cost. It was a big amount of money, but what they delivered was good.

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus' work has produced good results so far, with custom illustrations perfectly exemplifying the brand’s image. Though they could communicate more consistently, they understand the brand well.
"“They’re extremely creative and are out-of-the-box thinkers.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the director of marketing for a food and beverage company. I oversee the agency and ensure the rebranding project aligns with our vision.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Ruckus?

We hired them to help us define our brand, including what it looks and sounds like. We needed a partner to help us organize and present our vision.

What were your goals for this project?

The goals of this project were to develop and present options for channels through which we could present our brand. The outcome was to create a website offering both an experience and information. We also wanted to create in-store signage, a brand guidelines book, custom lettering, and illustrations.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

This decision was made prior to my start date. They wanted a local partner that was extremely creative with food and beverage experience.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

They help us with a variety of things: developing brand guidelines, creating a custom font and illustrations, guiding our lifestyle and product photo shoot with 300-plus images, sourcing photographers for our shoot, developing our website, and designing in-store materials (e.g., menus, posters, ordering collateral).

What was the team composition?

It's very transparent. We typically work with our account manager, but we also regularly interact with the president and the designers.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The best things we've seen are the custom illustrations and lettering they created from scratch. The artwork is based on old Indian art, which that makes sense for our brand.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They’re good at keeping up with our projects. Overall, they're easy to work with.

Are there any areas for improvement?

They should increase the frequency of communication so we know what stage of a project we are in. I'd also like them to present a wider variety of creative ideas.

They’re extremely creative and out-of-the-box thinkers. Sometimes, however, when we are in the middle of a project and we've given feedback on an idea, it would be nice to see some variations of our agreed idea.

**The Review** — Dec 18, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Despite a tight deadline, they did excellent work on-time and within budget. They didn’t merely provide a recommendation; they offered examples of how their branding would manifest in the marketplace and assisted in translating their work to stakeholders.
""Ruckus was amazing. I have nothing but good things to say about them."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the chief marketing officer at the Residential Real Estate Council (RRC), which is the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). We provide our membership of approximately 34,000 realtors with advanced education, resources, tools, and training.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

The Residential Real Estate Council was formally called the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS). The acronym for that organization's name was the same as the acronym for a prestigious certification we also offer to our members called the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation. This situation created confusion in our industry and a perception that the Council was primarily a designation organization.

As we are expanding our educational offerings and other services, it became clear that we needed to rename and rebrand our organization to address the confusion. We also wanted to update the branding for our CRS designation to make it more contemporary and stand out in the marketplace.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ruckus began by doing primary customer research and a market assessment. They examined our position in the marketplace and also interviewed our members, volunteer leadership and staff. They conducted a rigorous strategy process followed by creative development with feedback from us and our key stakeholders. Ruckus also assisted us in selling the rebranding recommendation to stakeholders, producing several PowerPoint presentations and a video launch. It was a very thoughtful process that resulted in a successful organization rebranding.

What is the team composition?

We worked with their account staff, designers and researchers. We also worked directly with Ruckus’ president Josh Wood.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We conducted a very thorough process to select a branding agency. We first looked at the top branding firms in the country, as well as up-and-coming branding firms. We were focusing on firms that had experience with name changes and working with not-for profit organizations. After sending out several RFPs and conducting in-person interviews with the firms, we chose Ruckus because they impressed us with a very strategic process and methodical approach that made sense. They also had a very strong portfolio of creative built on a foundation of research, analysis, and insight into an organization’s customers.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in May 2017 and completed the project in November 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we recently launched, we have yet to quantitatively measure the marketplace’s response to the brand change. Qualitatively, we’ve received overwhelming support from our leadership and members. Among the real estate community, I believe we’ve elevated our platform.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They did an excellent job. Not only did they have a really efficient and smart account team, but they provided a strong project leader and the regular involvement of their president, Josh, which was fantastic given the size of their firm. He attended meetings whenever we reviewed work internally and when we presented our work to our leadership. Josh is very eloquent, smart, and insightful.

I don’t know how he and his team get any sleep — we would leave them a message and would always hear back from them within 5-10 minutes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their process was thoughtful and based on insight they gathered by doing an exhaustive amount of digging to get to the root of what the overall brand direction should be. They were disciplined, strategic, and attentive to details. They didn’t simply hand us a recommendation; they showed us the logic behind their recommendations and allowed us to see their iterations of work and translations in the marketplace for the present and future.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Ruckus was amazing, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. We set extraordinarily difficult requirements for this project. It had to be done quickly and superbly, and they rose to the occasion. We’re considering partnering with them again to do some additional work beyond branding.

**The Review** — Oct 2, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The project, which is ongoing, has produced a 50% higher click-through rate while the cost to acquire a customer has dropped by 70–80% already. The team brings their expertise and experience to the project, applying creative ideas and delivering all work within the agreed deadline.
"“The results are already tremendous, but I expect soon they will be even better.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am one of the senior managers of Food Trends Catering and Events. We are a full-service catering and events company located in New York City.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We needed help with branding and marketing. We wanted to reinvent our brand and put forward a better image and representation of ourselves. We needed to create validated materials; print and web design. We were looking to build the right materials, as well as attract and retain more customers.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, they had to gain a very deep understanding of the business; what we do, who we are, who the current clients are now, and the challenges we face.

To date, we have worked with Ruckus on many things, and are currently working on more. One is a printed events brochure which highlights some of our higher-end material, with a combination of photos and text. They have also worked on the wireframes and material for our landing pages for online searches, and run ad campaigns. We are planning to do a website overhaul with them, as well as online ordering.

The project involves several iterations and putting things into practice; getting work in front of us so that we can react to it. There’s a lot of back-and-forth, but we rely on what they do, and they do it well.

What is the team dynamic?

We have worked with everyone in their team, from the most senior co-founders, down through the design team, some sales individuals, the creative team, as well as some of their web developers.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We originally found them through a combination of networking and web research. We had worked with another branding agency in the past but they were located out-of-state. In contrast, Ruckus is very local to us, which is helpful as we frequently meet in-person.

Ruckus also seemed to be more in line with what we’re trying to do as a company. The other agency was not as creative, a little outdated, and not as responsive. We like to work in a very iterative and responsive way.

How much have you invested in them?

It’s a five-figure total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in July 2017 and the work is still ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We test ran a few of our ad campaigns and found that we have a click-through rate which is 50% higher than normal. Our ads are consistently placed in the top three and we have lowered our cost to acquire a customer by 70–80%. That’s just in the beginning stages, so we expect to lower that even further. The results are already tremendous, but I expect soon they will be even better.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They have done really well. They draw on their expertise and what they have done in the past. Especially for a business of our size, it’s very helpful that they had dealt with a lot of similar clients.

They seem to be a step ahead of us, which is good. They are consistently giving me roadmaps showing the next deliverables, the order of work, and timeframes. It helps to know what is on the horizon, and it also ensures they deliver. From a management perspective, it has all been pretty clear.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Although it is hard to say what our expectations were, they were blown out of the water. Their responsiveness and fast turnaround are impressive, as well as their creativity, which they apply to our organization, rather than being creative just to be creative. We like to be quick, and the speed has been important for us, especially when we run into our busy season.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have been satisfied, and we also have a means of comparison.

They don’t know the specifics of every single industry, as that would be impossible. They have perspective and can leverage from others, but they hadn’t done anything specifically in our fairly small niche. Coming a little more prepared, having done some digging on our side before engaging, might have helped to accelerate things.

#### Brand Refresh for Self-Storage Company

- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Mar 31, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Clients can expect visually appealing designs that reflect their corporate identity, which is definitely due to Ruckus’ highly engaging and collaborative process. The project team was willing to go through several revisions in order to achieve excellent results.
""The project required patience and listening, and they had an abundance of both."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Our company provides self-storage, with over 230 facilities across the US. We target high-density markets with facilities averaging between 500 and 600 units. In my role, I lead all the marketing, pricing, IT, and training efforts across the company. The brand is certainly a big part of my responsibilities and it affects many areas of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?
The current brand has been in place since the inception of the company, so the brand was tired and looked like it came out of the early 1990s. It was difficult for the brand to represent our values. Aside from the difficulty of rallying around a brand statement, we faced the challenge of representing our brand on different signage—both digitally and in our facilities.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We engaged Ruckus to help us do a whole brand refresh. They needed to understand our business in order to help us develop a strong brand statement that fit with our values. They did a lot of internal stakeholder interviews and analysis, spending time at our facilities and talking to our field personnel. Ruckus also interviewed a couple of our customers to understand how they saw our company and our current brand. Out of all the interviews and information, they helped to synthesize what our brand platform was going to be in terms of a brand statement.

We then built out the visual components, which included a new logo, color schemes, and the overall look and feel of our brand. Ruckus also developed brand guidelines that we could roll out across our digital platforms and physical assets. They gave us a lot of the proof of concept behind what our external signage should look like. This included the signage on our facilities, monument signs, banners, internal promotional marketing, and digital platforms. Other brand collateral included our letterhead template, business cards, internal PowerPoint communications, and email signatures. Ultimately, those were the deliverables.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We did online searches and sought references from other organizations. In the end, we talked to about 8–10 firms. Ruckus had an attractive price point and was willing to take bigger risks while understanding our plight. It was easy to feel comfortable with the team, and the prior work they had completed represented a high degree of quality.

What is the status of this engagement?

Ruckus completed the project in about 2.5 months, which was within our expected timing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We were completely satisfied with what they produced, but we haven’t tracked any specific metrics. It was more about meeting certain visual criteria with our brand team and our executive team. We’ve received tons of compliments and positive feedback on our new look and feel.

Ruckus did a great job and delivered an excellent product. We were so pleased to present to our executive team and the rest of the company. They went out of their way to ensure we felt comfortable with and involved in the creative process. The project required patience and listening, and they had an abundance of both.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a great job. The project was more of a partnership, and we worked together through a large part of the project. They met all the timelines, even when we had to go through a couple iterations.

What did you find most impressive about Ruckus?

They weren’t afraid to take the bigger leaps. They were very open to a collaboration. There was strong value delivered for the price point we paid. Other bids were 40% higher than Ruckus, and I’m not sure we would have gotten the quality product that Ruckus produced. They were very concerned about the quality. They were quick to make adjustments based on our feedback and didn’t balk at it at all. They were interested in a face-to-face engagement, and they started building that client relationship right from the first meeting, which meant a lot to us. When we had concerns, they wasted no time showing up on our doorstep and working with us.

**The Review** — Mar 21, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Even on a tight deadline, Ruckus delivers exceptional work. Their strength in communication gives their clients a sense of confidence when working on new projects.
""They were terrific and the work was great. We’re happy with the outcome."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am a partner at DeSilva & Phillips, a boutique investment bank in New York. We focus on mergers and acquisitions in the media, marketing, technology, and information industries.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?
The fundamental issue was that we had an old website that needed updating. At that time, our firm was announcing a new affiliation with a global alliance of investment banks called Oaklins. We wanted to rebrand our site to feature that affiliation while still maintaining our independence. We were trying to find a way to preserve the DeSilva & Phillips legacy and identity while still paying homage to the brand guidelines from Oaklins.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the process with an intake meeting, during which we got them up to speed on our company and our clients. They helped us to think through all the different customer journeys on our site—how people find us and what they might be trying to get out of the information on our site. We constructed an incredibly useful user journey document that captured all of that. Then, we translated that into the actual design in terms of form, function, layout, and content.

The end deliverable was a completely relaunched and migrated website on a new platform. We previously had our own in-house content management system developed for our site years ago. Ruckus helped us migrate to a more modern platform based on WordPress. They also did all the collateral that goes along with that, such as recolored logos and reorganized brand information. They also helped us integrate our customer relationship management system with Salesforce. In addition, they coded a subscribe page for our newsletters.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

Someone at our firm knew one of the principals at Ruckus, so we included them in our request for proposal process. We vetted a number of different firms, but after we met with Ruckus, we felt that their understanding of our goals was better than everyone else’s. They gave us a sense of comfort and trust, and we felt that they could handle the job well. They were very professional, and their approach to project management seemed in line with what we needed.

How much have you invested with Ruckus?

We’ve paid $10,000–$50,000 for their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in August or September of 2016, and the project was completed in October of that year.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

They got the project done very quickly. We were hosting a big event to announce our new affiliation with Oaklins, and Ruckus bent over backward to get the job done on deadline. I’ve received a lot of positive feedback from clients. We’ve been around for a long time, and long-term clients have all said that they love the new site. They feel that it more accurately captures what we do today, whereas the old site didn’t really convey the depth of our offering and industry expertise.

I can’t give hard numbers, but we never had a good way to solicit inquiries on our old site. We now have reach-out forms on everyone’s profiles and a general inquiry box. Ruckus also gave us the ability to measure those inquiries in a way we couldn’t before. It’s now much more conducive for potential clients to reach out to us. People are also utilizing the subscribe page to sign up for the various newsletters we put out.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

Ruckus did a great job. Our tight deadline was a challenge, but they were able to meet it. They did a good job managing the input from all the different people at our firm.

What did you find most impressive about Ruckus?

They communicate extremely well. I felt very confident in their ability to deliver on their promises throughout the process. I worked with Alex, and he was always communicative and helped us understand the status of things. I’ve worked with other agencies, and I’ve found that’s often where things fall apart.

Are there any areas Ruckus could improve?

Not that I’m aware of. I had a very positive experience with them.

**Feedback Summary**: The personal interest that Ruckus puts into their projects makes their clients feel confident and secure.
""Not only did we pick them, but Ruckus also picked us, which gave us a feeling of confidence."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We're a startup providing a used costume marketplace. I am the president and founder of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

We needed to create our online infrastructure in the form of a website and app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ruckus developed a simple experience for a relatively complex problem, namely how we could convince people to put their old costumes up for sale or to send them to us. For this to happen, we needed a streamlined process. It started with developing wireframes, followed by design.

We are in the process of reaching out to coding companies and are starting the app design process with Ruckus.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

Ruckus was chosen from a list of 10 companies which responded to our bid. We hadn't worked with another design company before them. Being a startup, our budget was limited, which knocked out several of the candidates. Ruckus stood out during our first meeting in their Manhattan office. We became certain that Ruckus would be our choice.

How much have you invested with Ruckus?

The cost of Ruckus' work has been around $70,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Ruckus in March 2016. The website portion of the project is complete. We are currently working on the app design.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The feedback we've gotten so far has been pretty much exclusively positive. People are very pleased with the design of Ruckus' website prototype. Donations are a big part of our company's operations. So far, some of the charities that we reached out to have been very positive.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

Ruckus performed as well as I could have hoped. We used Redbooth for project management, but the majority of the communication was done through emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings.

What did you find most impressive about Ruckus?

Ruckus has taken a personal interest in our company. Not only did we pick them, but Ruckus also picked us, which gave us a feeling of confidence. It's a good team of people that is not afraid to push back on the client when they think it's in the client's best interest. Especially for startups, this is important.

Are there any areas Ruckus could improve?

No. Ruckus has been as good as I could have possibly hoped, and I would highly recommend them. In fact, I have.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Ruckus?

I would tell clients to have a meeting with Ruckus' owner. It would be in their interest to have a consultation at the very least. The original vision that we brought to Ruckus has evolved a great deal during the past year of our collaboration. That is not only to our benefit but also Ruckus'.

""They treat every idea as if it was meant for their own business, spending the time to understand what exactly it is that I want as a client."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the founder and chief executive officer. We focus on helping mothers re-enter the workforce after they've had a career break for their children.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

As a startup company, we needed to create a logo, branding and a website. I was looking for an empowering look that could give a good message to mothers who'd had a break. Confidence is a big issue when someone has been out of the workforce for any reason, so whatever logo I chose needed to appear strong.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Ruckus has developed our logo and branding. They're currently helping develop and design my website. The logo and branding are key to the website and I've provided the content for what I wanted on it. Ruckus is designing it for me, taking my direction, message, and audience into consideration. The website will be built in phases in order for us to have a soft launch. It will be monitored by Ruckus afterward in order to make appropriate changes to the elements which aren't working. Ruckus also helped put together a color palette, letterheads, and a PowerPoint template which I can use for client presentations.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

Ruckus is the first agency I've actually worked with, but I did interview and speak to quite a few different companies prior to hiring them. I initially did a Google search in order to find out what design companies were on the market. I also spoke to freelancers and received some word of mouth referrals from successful business owners who'd gone through a similar process. A good friend had launched a mobile app using Ruckus. It was a different business model to mine, but I decided to check out the company. I was impressed by how clear and simple their website was, while also having an edgy look. I received clear and quick answers to my emails and had very good meetings with Ruckus' team. They understood what I was trying to do, rather than giving a run of the mill approach. I didn't find the same approach anywhere else, which is why I chose Ruckus.

How much have you invested with Ruckus?

The cost of Ruckus' work has been between $25,000 and $50,000 for our entire project. This is only a rough estimate, as the project is ongoing. Ruckus had a competitive rate compared to other companies I contacted.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Ruckus in November 2016. The website portion is ongoing; our branding and logo are done.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The website isn't out yet, so it's hard to quantify results, but the people who've seen my logo and landing page loved Ruckus' work. They've created a thoughtful design which is mostly their own conception. I gave Ruckus information about what my company did and they took it from there. Ruckus took my feedback around what the company stood for and came up with four amazing logo designs. It was actually hard to choose one, but we ultimately selected a logo which was bold and elegant at the same time. It featured white spaces as a discrete way of portraying the gaps which appear in a mother's life, and what our company does in order to fill those gaps.

How did Ruckus perform from a project management standpoint?

Ruckus provided clear timelines and completed in advance most of the time. Things fell behind during the holiday season, but it was communicated well to me. We've had in-person and phone meetings.

What did you find most impressive about Ruckus?

Ruckus' team is able to think of creative solutions and put in a personal touch. They treat every idea as if it was meant for their own business, spending the time to understand what exactly it is that I want as a client. The team is also very nice and friendly.

Are there any areas Ruckus could improve?

I can't think of anything. I've been happy with everything that Ruckus has done so far.

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus’s leadership was smart, accessible, and honest, helping to make important decisions that allowed the project to move forward when issues came up. The first email blast that they sent out after the site’s launch generated over $1 million in sales on day one.
""Ruckus hit all of our deadlines.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We're an online retailer, whose customer acquisition strategy is based on social and viral sharing, and we guarantee the lowest online price for everything in our store.

What is your position?

I’m the Chief Marketing Officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

The company had been around for about a year, and it was clear that our website was not working in a way that was accessible to me or our users. Our Chief Executive Officer and I decided that we were going to take the site down completely and rebuild our site from scratch. We hired Ruckus through a pitch process that I ran. We met with four or five different companies, and we hired Ruckus to help us, to be our agency partner that would provide the front-end design and architecture for the site and contract out a back-end development company to build the back end.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

The first phase was to build the site, and the second phase was to help us with marketing activities. The majority of what we’ve done has been email marketing. The next step will be Facebook and other forms of social media. Ruckus is handling all aspects of the marketing campaign.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

We had looked at four or five different agencies. One of our founders had worked with Ruckus at another company, where he had had a positive experience with them.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was in the $50,000 to $200,000 range.

What is the status of this engagement?

We had a very aggressive timeline on this project. It was one of the criteria that we used to choose an agency partner, and that we wanted to be live in time for holiday shopping. We started the project in August, so we had about an 11-week build from scratch, so it was a very quick timeline, and I must say Ruckus hit all of our deadlines.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The first email blast that we did with our guys from Ruckus was the day before Thanksgiving, and it generated us over $1 million in sales on day one with zero issues on the site. The site performed beautifully. People navigated through it. We had an incredible number of time on site; we averaged eight minutes per user time on our site, so we just had great metrics on our first foray with these guys.

What distinguishes Ruckus from other providers?

Prior to doing this, I worked on the agency side for 25 years. What impressed me the most about Ruckus was their leadership. They were very smart, accessible, and honest when issues came up. There’s always going to be issues and there’s always going to be changes, especially in a timeline this tight. When that happened, they helped me to make decisions that allowed us to move forward and not get behind.

Is there anything Ruckus could have improved or done differently?

I like the people in the company, but they could probably use a little bit of a deeper bench. Josh and Alex are fantastic, some of their creative people are very good, but as they scale they’re going to need other people that are of a really high caliber.

""Project management was an area where Ruckus Marketing definitely shined."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

MugClubs.com launched last September, we're a platform for bars to manage their mug clubs and encourage customer loyalty.

What is your position?

I'm the founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus Marketing?

The idea was to build a mobile app for iOS and Android that bar patrons could download and join the mug clubs of their favorite bars. It would be free for customers to download, and they could earn various rewards by checking in and making purchases at a particular bar.

That idea was all I had when I first approached Ruckus. From there, they helped with every aspect of the business to bring my idea to reality.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

Ruckus developed a business plan for me that sketched out how we could make the idea profitable. They also designed the app and handled finding a development agency that could actually code and build it. They also obviously coordinated the marketing and promotion efforts around the app.

How did you come to work with Ruckus Marketing?

I actually went to college with the CEO of Ruckus, Josh Wood. I went to josh with this idea, and he was immediately very excited about helping me, and getting the idea off the ground. I think what impressed me in those initial meetings with Ruckus was how diligent they were, they thought about everything.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was between $10,000 and $50,000.

What was the timeline of this engagement?

We formally started meeting around September 1, 2015. The development of the app concluded somewhere at the end of February [2016]. Launching the company with Ruckus was roughly a six-month time frame.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The app is still in beta testing so it's hard to talk about results at this point. However, I can say that we met all of our timelines and budget requirements, and we're even able to add a few features at the end that we didn't think we were going to be able to. Also, subjectively, the app looks great, we haven't had any negative feedback about its performance or anything like that. I'm excited about the possibilities moving forward.

How did Ruckus Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was an area where Ruckus Marketing definitely shined. We were on the same page throughout the whole project and especially when it comes to the development of the app, they were the ones who worked directly with the developers and made sure that everything was done correctly. I couldn't have asked for anything more from a project management standpoint.

What distinguishes Ruckus Marketing from other providers?

I've spent the last eight years working for Johnson & Johnson in corporate finance, so that's the world I come from. There are many great things about the corporate world, I think a focus on creating organized processes and minimizing overhead is often lost in the startup world. There's a certain creativity and focus on the customer that often gets overlooked in the corporate world. Ruckus was great because they had a grasp of both of those mentalities, and brought the best of both of worlds to this project.

Is there anything Ruckus Marketing could have improved or done differently?

No, I really don't. I think they really were a wonderful partner. I hope that they'll continue to grow and do well. I hope to work with them for any products I do in the future, including growing MugClubs.

**The Review** — Mar 28, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: The Ruckus team blends business acumen with creativity to achieve a very deep understanding of a wide range of marketing activities. Their enthusiasm for this project showed in the highly customized plan that they developed.
""They were very thorough and had a remarkable resistance to project fatigue.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

Davek Umbrellas makes uniquely strong and stylish umbrellas that are built to last.

What is your role at the company?

I'm the founder and CEO of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Ruckus?

Prior to working with Ruckus, our various marketing efforts were impulsive and lacked a well-thought out holistic strategy.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

The scope of the project touched every aspect of marketing for us – traditional, such as trade shows; digital, such as search engine optimization and pay per click; and social, such as Facebook and Twitter. Ruckus performed an audit of our past and current efforts, identified our current customers, developed a roadmap for each marketing channel, defined budgets for each vehicle, and realistic success and failure thresholds.

How did you come to work with Ruckus?

I searched and interviewed more than 40 marketing firms, from boutique to larger firms, before selecting Ruckus.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted around two months.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We were very satisfied with the results. We now have a cohesive marketing plan in place with a realistic budget and implementation plan.

What distinguishes Ruckus from other providers?

Ruckus was an excellent team to work with. There was an unusual blend of business acumen with creativity in their analysis. They had a very deep understanding in a wide range of marketing activities, which is critical when developing a cohesive marketing strategy whose parts all work together. I was surprised at the depth of detail that went into each analysis. These were not generic recommendations, but very specific and customized to our specific needs. They were very thorough and had a remarkable resistance to project fatigue. The depth and enthusiasm was consistent throughout the project.

In hindsight, are there areas in which they could improve or things you might do differently?

None. We plan to work with them regularly.

**The Review** — Jun 1, 2015

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus’s highly organized approach and strong communication allowed them to deliver a fully branded, functional company on a very tight schedule. They were thorough, creative, flexible, and a true partner on this project, and they provided beautiful work.
""They became our marketing team.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company.

Neota Logic is a software company that builds documentation systems that are designed to ease the compliance process on our clients.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I'm the chief operating officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for working with Ruckus?

We partnered with one of our clients to create a joint venture called ComplianceHR, using Neota Logic's technology. It's primarily designed for HR [human resources] departments in contract employment industry. This was a brand new business entity, so we went to Ruckus with a blank slate. We explained who we are, and where we envision the company going and asked them to build a brand from scratch based on that information.

Please describe the scope of their work.

We formed the business in February, and we had a major industry conference at the beginning of May where we wanted to launch the brand. So, we had two months to get together our logo, color scheme, branding, messaging, website, business cards, letterhead, and banners for a trade show – you name it, we had to get everything in two months, which was a real challenge. We went to Ruckus, and they said to us, "If you stick with this schedule, and if you're responsive with us, then we're going to be able to meet that deadline for you."

They laid it all out from the beginning. We knew the expectations they had for us, and they knew what our expectations were of them. As long as we hit our marks, they hit their marks. It was unbelievable. We started with Ruckus in late February or early March, and the trade show was the first week of May.

**SOLUTION**
What was your process for selecting Ruckus?

I was researching online. I wanted an agency near us in the New York area, and we wanted to be able to have face-to-face meetings. I called around, and I narrowed it down to my top three. I had them come in and meet the executive management team. One of our team members had met another firm that was based out of Los Angeles, and wanted to go that way, but I kept pushing because I really thought Ruckus had better creativity, and I really thought they were the one for us.

It was their edginess, but with a level of professionalism that I really liked the most. They were able to convey real business professionalism, but there was still a hint of humor, or a hint of self-deprecation in their work. It was fresh. You could tell that they were working hard, and there was a lot of creativity going on there. There were more interested in talking about the creative process than talking about money at the beginning. Of course, you have to talk about money eventually, but they were more interested in the creative process, and that was intriguing for us.

Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative?

It was between $40,000 and $60,000.

Can you speak to Ruckus's process, or what it was like working with them?

They're super-organized, which was great. They laid out the expectations from the beginning and stuck to their plan. They were always there, thinking of things, checking up on how we were receiving the work. They kept us on point, which was great. They didn't want to disappoint us, and they knew that sometimes they were saving us from ourselves. They were also very honest, saying, "We can't get that done in two months, but we'll put that on for version 2." So, they were very honest with what they could and couldn't do. They didn't over-promise. The delivery was fantastic. They were highly creative and highly available.

They used Teamwork, which is an online project management system, and they were always on that, making sure things were uploaded and where they should be. It's a really hands on, young team, but for as young as they are, their wisdom transcends their youth. They came up with some very creative ideas. I really enjoyed working with them, and I never felt like I was getting a hard sell. Everything was very open, honest, and transparent.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of the project?

The result was that they were able to get us from absolutely nothing to a fully branded functional company with an online presence in two months. Their work is beautiful. It conveys the exact message that we want to have. We've gotten so many compliments. It was so well done and so well received that we're planning to bring more business to them with our existing company [Neota Logic].

Do you have any stats or metrics on the project that support these results?

The result of the conference, which was less than a month ago, is that people know we exist now, and that was our primary goal more than selling our product. We got a lot of Twitter followers, and a lot of exposure. People are visiting the site. We're getting great engagement; their work has provided a good base, a place for us to launch from. The conference attendees included almost every single employment law firm in the country, so it was an important first impression.

Is there anything unique or special about Ruckus that really makes them stand out?

I liked how nimble and flexible they were. They're very organized, thorough, and creative. Also, they're just very human. I didn't feel uncomfortable saying I don't know how to do something, or that I'd never done that particular thing before. They would hold my hand and help me get through something, so they could get what they needed. They were a partner, and they guided us through the process. They became our marketing team.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

This project was so quick and so well done that I don't really think there were any areas of improvement.

**The Review** — May 29, 2015

**Feedback Summary**: Ruckus listened carefully and showed a great deal of enthusiasm for this project from the very beginning. Their team’s thorough research has increased the potential reach and impact of this campaign and opened doors to new markets for the product.
""Their responsiveness really impressed the hell out of me.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company.
Bentley Labs formulates and manufactures personal care products, primarily cosmetics, and over-the-counter drug products, for a variety of leading brand marketers as well as niche brand marketers who serve the industry.
What is your role and responsibilities?
I'm the owner and CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What was your goal for working with Ruckus?

We had a product that we were taking to market. While our take on the product is new, the product type has been in the marketplace for a long time, and we were looking for a new way to position it. Think of it as a technology that's been out there, it's been around, people have used it, but the company that launched the technology had a particular target audience, and they never evolved that. We were looking for a new audience, and obviously a new marketing strategy to attract them.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their work.

They provided a couple of services. One was to educate us on internet marketing, how it works, what has proven to be successful, what hasn't, what business models work really well, and why. So, that was one big portion of the services they provided. The other was conducting the market research, and coming back to us with a plan for a different way to market our product, to a different target audience, to give us that uniqueness. Everybody was marketing the product to 40-to-50-year-olds. Nobody was thinking of the younger generation who are much more in tune with appearance and personal care products.

We worked on this for about five months, and we were just blown away by what they did for us. The results of their research and their recommendations are just now coming to fruition, but they really exceeded our expectations.

Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative?

We've planned three phases for this project. The initial phase was probably less than $30,000. As we move forward through the project, this should run in the $200,000 to $500,000 range

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the results of the project?
We haven't yet executed the marketing model that they've built for us yet, but in the short term, their recommendations have caused us to go out and look for strategic marketing partners to team up with, particularly ones who concentrate on internet marketing to the younger generation. We had no meaningful experience with digital marketing, but we're really excited at the doors that are opening up, and the potential impact and reach of our campaign.
Do you have any statistics or metrics on the project?
It's too soon to talk metrics, but I feel good about what we're seeing.
Is there anything unique or special about Ruckus that really makes them stand out?
They listened really carefully to us, and that impressed me. They're a young group, and I thought they might come in and act like they knew it all. But, they didn't. They also showed a lot of enthusiasm for the product and the category, and that was really important. It wasn't just a project to them. You could feel that they were totally jazzed about going to work on this kind of a product in that kind of marketplace. What it said to me was, before we even were done with the initial meeting, they were already thinking about how this could be done. Even in those initial RFP [request for proposal] meetings, they were coming up with amazing ideas for us.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?
Honestly, I didn't. Their responsiveness really impressed the hell out of me. I recommend them to any of my customers that I deal with now. I really like their energy. As a young entrepreneurial firm trying to break in, these guys show a ton of promise. They're going places.
