Projects and Data Organizing Solution

Composite Solution for Project Management and Data Structuring was developed by Rozdoum to organize, structure, and schedule enterprise business processes.

The composite solution provides a way to start a new typed project comprised of several Jira projects. Set of tools aims to map the company business processes and move them into the management tools. This set comprises several tools for every activity. The

tools integrate with each other. They allow to start customer-specific projects, manage and schedule tasks, synchronize data structures, analyze the data, and build status reports.

The developed solution extends the standard Atlassian products functionality to fit client business processes.

Technologies used: Jira API, Confluence API, User Macro in Confluence, REST, Atlassian SDK

Confluence Data Extractor

Confluence Data Extractor transfers the selected content from the dedicated Confluence pages to the web pages of the CRM according to preset transformation rules and allows saving efforts for double publishing of content.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, Confluence API, Java, JavaScript, jQuery

Confluence to Jira Connector

The Connector allows standard actions with Jira issues within Confluence. Users can create, edit, view, make a transition and list Jira tickets right from the Confluence page without switching to Jira.

The app uses REST API to allow users to do all actions with Jira issues in Confluence as they do in Jira. The following operations with the Jira issues are available right from a Confluence page: view, create, edit,

transition, list, and search issues.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, Confluence API, Java, JavaScript, jQuery

WatchTower for Jira

WatchTower is an app to consolidate issues from several distributed Jira instances into a single agile board. The app is preventing a user from a constant switching between multiple environments.

The app gathers data from both Cloud and Server Jiras, updated issues directly from WatchTower, allows board sharing (permission to view only, report time, and comment or edit issues). WatchTower uses all

common practices of an agile board: drag-n-drop to change issue status, log work, adjust estimates.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, REST API, Apache Velocity Templates, Atlassian AJS, Angular JS

Requirements Clarity Map for Confluence

Requirements Clarity Map for Confluence is the app that builds a tree graph of project requirements. It structures the scope in a visual way and reflects uncertainty, size, and status of requirements.

RCM helps to configure each graph element to answer the uncertainty in project demands. Users can set the color identifying the clarity of the requirement, define its size and parent/child relationship. Besides the Jira

issue can be linked to the graph element, so that a user can track the task status and priority.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, REST API

Cards Coloring app

Cards coloring app was developed to fill with the color the whole body of Jira cards. Filling colors help to distinguish different parameters of issues visually right at agile boards. Cards may be colored separately by assignees, issue type, priorities, or queries.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, REST API

Range Estimate for Jira

Range Estimate app for Jira helps to expand an original estimate with a pessimistic one, create an estimation range and monitor the progress of issues by matching the estimation values with the time reports.

In combination with the original estimate, two estimation values create an estimation range which is visualized on the issue view panel. The app highlights with colors how the reported time correlates the time

plans on the same panel. JQL functions are available to filter the issues by estimation parameters.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, REST API

HP ALM to Jira Migration

Rozdoum made the custom development of a tool for migration from HP ALM to Jira. The migration process consisted of two parts. The first one was a migration of projects and defects from HP ALM to Jira. The second one was a movement of test management data into a third-party add-on for Jira.

A third-party Jira add-on was used to store migrated test management data since Jira does not have native test management

support. For this purpose, the third-party add-on with a rich API was chosen.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, REST API, Spring MVC, Spring, Angular, jQuery

VersionOne to Jira Merge

Rozdoum has made a custom migration of items and repositories from VersionOne to Jira and Git consequently with a development of automation scripts.

The migration requires a lot of manual work, so our experts wrote two automation scripts to decrease manual activities.

Technologies used: Atlassian SDK, Jira API, Jira REST API, Git API, VersionOne API

Reopening Counter for Jira

Reopening Counter is an app that shows how many times a resolved Jira issue was reopened. A Dashboard Gadget provides a report on selected reopened issues and makes critical points of the development process visible.

Internal stakeholders commended Rozdoum for their project management skills and technical ability. The team established clear expectations and stuck to them. In the end, they delivered a functional app that fulfilled all the requirements.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the CTO of a factoring and financial technologies company called BAM worldwide. We service the entire U.S. as well as a handful of foreign clients in transportation, staffing, construction, and oil and gas.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Rozdoum?

Most of our development team works out of Asia where iOS is not as commonly used. Thus, no one on our team had experience making iOS apps. As a result, we needed resources to develop our transportation app.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a transportation app that allowed truck drivers across the U.S. to directly submit bills of landing (BOL) on goods for immediate payment. With the app, our transportation customers could have their drivers automatically link their BOLs’ direct to orders to our system.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I met their CEO at a conference in Lisbon. From our conversations, we decided to work together.

Describe the project in detail.

I sat down with the project manager and outlined a process for the flow of the application. We then discussed what data they would need from us and pulled it for them. While we designed the API, they created the wireframes for the look, feel, and layout. Once we approved their designs and completed the API, they developed the app according to our specs.

What was the team composition?

We worked with a project manager, a frontend developer, and a native developer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We’re currently using the app with only one of our customers, and it works as designed. We’re planning to do a slow rollout.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very effective. They followed directions and did what they said they would do.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

When outsourcing a project, it can be difficult to find anyone with actual planning, scoping, or project management skills. They did a great job on all fronts.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Nothing comes to mind in terms of mobile development. However, we wish they would offer more services. We could use the same level of work for web applications.

Feedback summary:

Early prototypes have performed well and impressed audiences. Rozdoum’s specialized skills for Atlassian tools made them the perfect choice for the highly complex project. Their strong knowledge of models allows them to iterate when specific requirements can’t be defined for them in advance.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of MID, a company that develops systems for standardized modeling notations.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Rozdoum?

We’re working with a certain technology called OSLC, Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration. It was originally invented by IBM but is now open source. We want to leverage that technology to promote interoperability between Atlassian tools and other modeling tools. Our challenge is developing bidirectional traceability between Jira issues. That means traceability between artifacts like requirements, test cases, or tasks, across both tools and vendors. We’re also working against different versions of Atlassian tools and with very large customers, which means we have to make our products work in their scenarios.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rozdoum is helping us develop the Jira-related bidirectional traceability. We have developed an OSLC provider for Jira that allows us to handle this bidirectional traceability of artifacts. We do all the requirements, mockups, drawings and so on. They work on the integration using JavaScript to customize for Jira and Confluence.

The technology is pretty complex. It’s an ongoing process of figuring out how it works, how it should work, and how to implement. We don’t work to precise requirements and timelines. It’s a longer process that requires a lot of engagement to understand the technology, test, and verify—and sometimes start from scratch after we’ve built the first version.

What is the team composition?

We work with a full-time developer and a part-time architect.

How did you come to work with Rozdoum?

I’ve known the founder for 15 years. He’s well known for his knowledge in the modeling space. Around a decade ago, he developed a pretty well-known modeling tool. When I saw that his firm now specializes in Atlassian customization, I thought that could be a good combination because the company has knowledge of models, what they require, how they work, and the special challenges related to working on them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about 20,000€ ($24,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2017 and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We're doing something very challenging. This problem has existed for 30 years but nobody has solved it. We're trying to do that right now. It's an absolutely unique and huge challenge. We're about to finish our work but I don’t have metrics or results because we don’t have a final product.

They have provided me with some very good demo versions of the future product. They’ve delivered very good integrations and prototypes that I could show at exhibitions and conferences. Those were perceived extremely well by the audience. The overall quality—stability, performance, and that kind of thing—was very good.

How did Rozdoum perform from a project management standpoint?

It's important to us that we have a very safe work environment so we used an end-to-end encrypted collaboration platform. We also communicate via Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It's their knowledge of the whole Atlassian ecosystem. They know very well the differences between the versions. Customizing in one version is something really different than customizing in a later version. They know that very well and they are extremely engaged.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. Right now, I wouldn't have a reason to look for somebody else. They really do a good job. I'm glad to have them on the project.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I think they’re a good choice. They do a very good job. They have high standards and strong knowledge. They know how to work in large company environments like we are right now so they know how to behave in that scenario. I can only recommend to work with them.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the founder and CEO of a mobile app and web development company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Rozdoum?

Rozdoum handled development for a Jira instance, specifically release notes functionality.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to reduce the time and resources allocated to manually writing release notes.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We met Rozdoum at an event in Ukraine. Their leadership was extremely knowledgeable and receptive to our management principles.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

Rozdoum developed an automated process of creating release notes documents. They built an add-on that tracks ticket statuses and requires developers to fill out several obligatory fields during the release stage.

Rozdoum also made sure that every update in Jira’s release notes seamlessly integrates with the relevant Confluence page. They implemented a Confluence add-on that allows the export of release notes pages in various formats, including .csv, .pdf, and .doc.

After Rozdoum completed the release notes project, they started helping us support a Jira service desk environment. Together, we review and resolve emerging Jira system issues.

What was the team composition?

We worked with a team leader and a developer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our first project helped expedite the product release process and increase our productivity.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Rozdoum’s team leader facilitates development.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are highly effective communicators and priority setters. They are always clear about when they would be able to work on tasks. In most cases, they’ve delivered ahead of schedule.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

Having more resources would help in scaling for additional business. However, Rozdoum provides accurate time estimates, which has eliminated this issue.

Rozdoum delivered a stable product in a short period of time. They tried to understand the financial logic associated with the application to avoid any issues and provide the client with quality work.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am an entrepreneur working on several websites and apps. This has been more of a personal project for me.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Rozdoum?

I was making an advanced real estate calculator for investments. I have worked in this field and have a master’s degree in real estate from Columbia University. It was a tool I needed on a personal level and it would be based on my knowledge. The tool is aimed at more advanced users in the real estate space for investment purposes.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rozdoum provided development for Android and iOS. I made the designs using a different party. Rozdoum also developed an informational web page for the app. I have worked with a 5-person team including developers and QA people as well as a 6th sales person who was in charge of the contract.

How did you come to work with Rozdoum?

I evaluated several companies using Extract.co and eventually chose Rozdoum. They were the most professional option and had the most competitive price.

How much have you invested with Rozdoum?

The cost of their work has been between $10,000 and $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Rozdoum in May or June 2017. The app is live on the Apple store and Google Play store. We are continuing to work on a new version.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The calculator is very advanced in terms of financial logic. Rozdoum easily understood the logic I provided, which I give them kudos for. The whole project was completed in 40 days, excluding the design portion. The app has been stable.

How did Rozdoum perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through Slack and had no barriers. The messaging was instant and their team was responsive. I am based in Kuwait so I never met the team personally.

What did you find most impressive about Rozdoum?

The delivery time was quick and Rozdoum stuck to the schedule given to me. They also took the time to understand the financial logic of the app, which was crucial. They asked questions and made sure the concept was completely understood before moving forward. The communication was good; they’re very professional, polite and respectful people.

Are there any areas Rozdoum could improve?

They could offer a more diversified set of in-house programming languages. Other than this, Rozdoum is extremely good in terms of skills, timing, and reliability.

Brooklyn Berkeley Bridge LLC is company me and my wife started. I’m a managing member.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Rozdoum?

I wanted them to assist me with developing a prototype for an idea I had for an app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a prototype of an Android app. The app is designed to make people aware of how much time they spend on their phone and creates an interactive way for them to make a decision based on those results.

How many resources were assigned to your project?

Tatiana was the facilitator. I worked with one developer who was very thorough. He answered all my questions and did a good job.

How did you come to work with Rozdoum?

I was looking for companies in India, but then decided I wanted a company from Europe to give me a good price point. I searched online and based on their reviews and location, I chose them. They had good reviews and they were based in an area that I was looking for. I called one other company and they were a little overpriced for what I was looking for. I was considering three other companies along with Rozdoum.

How much have you invested with Rozdoum?

We spent between $4,000 and $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in June 2016 and it was completed in September.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The impact that the project had was I got to see what it was like working with someone overseas using Skype. I communicated what I wanted to do and they translated that to code. Then I gave them feedback and told them any changes I wanted. They would change it and we would share ideas. It was a good learning experience and I learned a lot.

They just did a prototype so the app hasn’t launched yet. My goal was to develop a working prototype that I could play with. I can now gauge what I want to create.

How did Rozdoum perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very responsive which is key. They were great at responding to my emails and translating my idea into an app. They also had the ability to test it.

What did you find most impressive about Rozdoum?

I’ve never dealt with anyone overseas, but they were very responsive. They understood what I was trying to accomplish and were able to take my idea and put it into an app, which I think is impressive.

Are there any areas Rozdoum could improve?

Maybe in a larger project, I could answer that better. Tatiana follows up and checks in. Their customer service was great. There was a very quick turnaround. The price was great. I tried to do the prototype with someone else and they wanted $100,000.

Since the app’s launch on both iOS and Android, many of its features now support integral parts of the business logic for both clients and suppliers. Rozdoum’s high-quality deliverables, transparent communication, and eagerness to meet objectives continue to encourage success.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the operations manager of a local yacht club in the New York area. We have around 15 employees.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Rozdoum?

The overall goal was introducing entertainment for our participants. We thought that it would be interesting to bring social aspects to the sailing process. Typically, we would plan routes and follow them, but we wanted to give people the opportunity to share these routes, track what they’re doing, and generally introduce a social aspect into their experience. Specific tracking software is available, but we wanted to give additional opportunities to our clients. We looked at the market in order to see which companies had experience with these types of solutions and found Rozdoum.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app was built for iOS and Android. We had an initial idea of giving people the ability to plan, track, and share their sailing routes. Rozdoum worked proactively in discussing the whole concept and came up with mockups and a design flow with us. They contributed based on their previous experience with the tracking and positioning capabilities of mobile phones.

We made the first version of the software in order to prove that it could be delivered. Once Rozdoum completed this prototype, we moved forward.

Rozdoum was responsible for the design and development of the app, and they also contributed to the business logic, providing us with the best choices for user-expected actions. The route-planning feature allows users to pick points to visit. There is also a logbook on which users can enter details about their current position such as wind speed and direction, boat speed, and so on. Often, this is done on paper.

How did you come to work with Rozdoum?

I was looking online for companies who had experience in making mobile apps with tracking functionalities. I came across a use case for a previous project of Rozdoum’s that was related to tracking user positions on mobile phones and creating maps of popular places where people run or walk their dogs.

How much have you invested with Rozdoum?

The cost of their work has been between $95,000 and $105,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Rozdoum around 2013. We had a few initial milestones and determined that we were interested in extending the platform. We came up with more milestones within the next year and finished almost everything in 2015. We mainly have support activities with Rozdoum now. They fix any bugs we encounter.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

We received user feedback and requests after launching the app. Rozdoum was willing to fixing those items. Overall, we’ve been satisfied with their performance and attitude towards the work.

The app is functional and stable. We really depend on many of its features in relation to our external suppliers and weather updates. If a third-party component changes, it can also affect us and break something in our app. Once these integrations are fixed, we’re stable.

How did Rozdoum perform from a project management standpoint?

Sometimes, we needed to know how to work together and what to expect. Rozdoum took the time to explain issues to us, and, once we passed the getting-to-know-them phase, their project management was foreseeable and reliable. They mapped our expectations and the promises they made. We usually had conversations over Skype once per week or so during development, and we had more extensive talks during planning. They handle support through email. For immediate communication, we use channels like Skype or Slack.

What did you find most impressive about Rozdoum?

I appreciate their openness to contributing knowledge in specific domains. Rozdoum suggested that we use the Couchbase database software, which we didn’t know about before. This gave us seamless synchronizations between platforms, as we can share data between Android and iOS phones, which was quite valuable and new at the time.

Are there any areas Rozdoum could improve?

Rozdoum has good English skills, but our communication with the developers themselves could have been improved. All in all, it was understandable.

Rozdoum is complimented for creating a strong system that can easily scale up. Rozdoum is recommended for difficult development challenges.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am an independent consultant working with clients in the US. I manage the collaboration between clients and the development team.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Rozdoum?

I've worked on a number of projects with Rozdoum. A specific one was for an auctions portal. The client wanted to develop a platform similar to eBay using non-standard methods like closed auctions, penny auctions, and 6-7 other variations.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rozdoum developed my client's platform using Liferay. The project was started completely from scratch. Rozdoum created mockups of the core functionalities and design and provided coding. The team consisted of a project manager, 1-2 testers, and 3 developers.

Rozdoum was involved in the setup for the platform but the deployment was handled by another company.

How did you come to work with Rozdoum?

I commute to Ukraine quite often. One year before starting the work with Rozdoum, I was looking for collaborators and contacted around 10 companies.

I wouldn't approach Rozdoum for smaller projects given that they're too formalized, but they're ideal for larger scopes of work.

How much have you invested with Rozdoum?

The total cost of Rozdoum's services for the current project was between $300,000 and $400,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with Rozdoum in 2010, and use them on an ongoing basis. We have worked on 3 projects together so far.

The platform was launched in 2013 after a one-year development cycle, but it was taken down because of a business decision. I was contacted again 3-4 months ago in order to readjust the project and upgrade it. We plan to relaunch it in another 3 months.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

As far as the client was concerned, the platform was successful. They received everything that they wanted. All issues were related to operating logistics, not Rozdoum's development.

We went through performance testing for the system, and it was able to handle 2,000 concurrent users at the time. It was capable of being scaled up, but it never went further than that at the time.

How did Rozdoum perform from a project management standpoint?

Everything required of Rozdoum was delivered on time in 95% of cases. Any delays were usually due to specification changes. We used Jira for our collaboration, which was provided by Rozdoum. I mainly kept in touch with our project manager, but I did have communications with the development team as well, for particular tasks.

What did you find most impressive about Rozdoum?

I find Rozdoum to have an organizational structure more akin to what is found in the US.

Are there any areas Rozdoum could improve?

At times, when we wanted to accelerate certain portions of the project, Rozdoum couldn't provide additional staff. It would be nice to have this, but I can understand that keeping people on staff without assigned work doesn't make much sense from a business perspective.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Rozdoum?

Rozdoum typically keeps to the specified requirements. They do make suggestions in the initial phases, but clients should understand that the work will be done precisely as instructed, which can differ from their actual vision. We've had some delays after the client realized the result wasn't quite what they meant to develop.

Customers are satisfied with the software, which leads its industry. Rozdoum’s team has a deep foundation of technical expertise, and their CEO provides additional drive and support. Their successful contributions have earned them more responsibilities.

BACKGROUND

We are a software company in Germany that specializes in modeling software for business clients. I am the founder and CEO.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

We needed to find an offshore development team with a deep set of developers. Our goals are to cut costs and augment our German development group.

SOLUTION

Rozdoum provides software development for our core software products. My team provides all the training, consulting and support for the products. I selected Rozdoum because their CEO [Andrey Dekhtyar] used to work for our firm.

He moved back to the Ukraine after completing his studies. Their company has grown a lot in the past decade, and I liked their stability and expertise. They also offered great pricing for our needs. They give us the ability to scale between three main resources up to 20 in busy times. We scale up and down based on our business, which fluctuates wildly at times.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

I am very satisfied with the work delivered by Rozdoum. Their CEO is a smart guy, and the team has barely changed during the past 11 years. Their mobile application for iOS is industry leading here in Germany, and they have produced several popular, industry-leading complicated software tools.

My customers are satisfied with the work they have delivered. They report on their work very well and have strong developers. I often give them more work and responsibility as time goes on. The engagement will probably grow because of the success and history of strong cooperation.
