What challenge were you trying to address with RoughRider Digital?

We’ve been in business for 56 years, and while we were on the cutting edge in terms of launching a website 20 years ago, our digital presence has since lagged. We needed to improve our SEO rankings and had unsatisfactory results with two previous vendors.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our existing site was done by a company that specialized in buildings chiropractic sites. As a result, our page was very cookie-cutter. RoughRider asked what made us distinctive, what we wanted to emphasize, and used that information to build a brand new website that accurately reflects our brand. The site highlights our unique position as a kid-friendly clinic and includes our own photos and original blog content.

They also maintain our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. We coordinate a number of community workshops which they now advertise through social media.

They provide ongoing SEO work and send us monthly reports with suggestions for new blog content.

What is the team composition?

We work primarily with Julie [Emilio, Co-Owner, RoughRider Digital] and Andy [Emilio, Co-Owner, RoughRider Digital]. We met with Julie initially to discuss our goals, while Andy handles the tech side, so they make a great team.

How did you come to work with RoughRider Digital?

They approached us. They sent us a video in which they analyzed our website and described the changes they would make. Because we were frustrated with our previous vendors, we set up a meeting and were very impressed with their suggestions.

How much have you invested with them?

Around $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2016 and our relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our digital presence has certainly improved, no question. Before hiring RoughRider, our website appeared on the sixth page of Google searches. We didn’t even appear on the first page of results when searching our name verbatim. We’re now on the first page for every search parameter we set. They’ve repaired the damage done by previous vendors, ensuring we stay relevant.

How did RoughRider Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We typically communicate through email, though we also set up a phone call every couple of months, as well as an in-person meeting every six months. They’re highly responsive, even if feedback is slow on my end.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They did their homework thoroughly. They knew exactly who we were as a company and understood that we were in the unique position of being a family-oriented chiropractic clinic. This allowed them to really customize our brand.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’ve been a huge improvement over our previous vendors, so I don’t have many complaints. We occasionally find minor, industry-related typos in the content they provide, but this is to be expected since they don’t specialize in our field.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They take time to understand your company, so be sure to convey your priorities. If you have a crystal-clear conception of your brand in mind, they’ll be able to present that identity digitally. If you know what you want, this is a great company to work with.
