Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the Deputy VP of testing for Dormakaba. It’s one of the world’s leading companies in entry and exit control, including fingerprint recording terminals for banks, airport terminals, and more.


What challenge were you trying to address with Ronwell Digital?

We needed testing done.


What was the scope of their involvement?

They do various testing for us. It started purely on-site but has expanded to off-site testing.

They provide support for transition for test automation, test technologies that harmonize with one control framework, and assist with end testing, regression testing, and testing operations that include the ICE pipeline. They also assist with the testing of online Cloud-based services and are close to operation and production testing, as well.

They’re expanding into some smaller development projects for highly complex transition technologies. They analyze the existing technologies and find the right strategy to transfer the incomplete new framework, without any negative impact on business. For example, in a current project, they need to connect 6-7 automation technologies to one framework to achieve the desired end result.

What is the team composition?

There are 13–15 people working in the testing center. Project complexity varies, requiring 2–10 people to work on it.

How did you come to work with Ronwell Digital?

I had worked with them in the past, with a different company. We considered them for this project, and I was impressed with the way they took time to make sure they could take on the project’s demands, before agreeing to it.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around August 2017, and it’s ongoing.


What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We collaboratively built a common testing strategy to create a smoother working environment. They know our company, and understand our needs. Other departments approach them about issues; they’re highly regarded at our company. They are very successful and we are very pleased with their work.

How did Ronwell Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They work autonomously for the most part, working in the off-site testing center. They are integrated into our daily standups. When a new project begins, if it’s a new concept, they send someone here to deep dive and learn all about it, and take that knowledge back to the testing site. We visit their facility a couple of times each year to define the next steps in our strategy to strengthen the relationship.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have customer-driven flexibility. They work to facilitate custom solutions to support their customer in the most pragmatic and effective way. They pursue a trustworthy, reliable relationship with their customers, and we consider them a partner.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes they could put additional resources on a project to finish quicker. In their pursuit of perfection, it sometimes takes longer than we would like to finish a task.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t treat them as an external vendor, treat them as a trusted partner. They will solve your problems, and you’ll have a productive collaboration.
