Our team originally hired Rock The Rankings to assist with a minor CMS website migration for one of our web properties. Post-migration, we brought on their team to help with multiple projects and services for our primary business at Bigge.com.
The primary projects included Technical SEO analysis, Local SEO optimization, On-Page optimization, Reporting/Metrics Analysis, as well as Search Reputation Management.
What were your goals for this project?
The primary goal for the web migration project was to ensure that we were able to sustain our traffic and rankings post-migration. We wanted to ensure a smooth migration over to the new CMS, and at the same time, make sure that we were checking all of the SEO boxes when it came to setting up the new pages from the old website.
The goals for the technical side of the project were to improve website crawling issues, site speed, as well as canonicalization issues that were occurring across multiple pages. For Local SEO, we wanted to focus on boosting the local rankings in the Google three-pack for our primary listings, and start to build momentum behind our secondary listings in cities across the country.
How did you select Rock The Rankings?
I found Justin on Upwork, and upon conducting several interviews with other candidates, it was clear that Rock the Rankings were best for the job
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
From the website migration side of the project, we touched on an array of different topics including 301 re-direct mapping, sitemap generation, and setup, Google Search Console crawling of sitemaps, data back-up, testing, and analysis, as well as other topics.
For the technical SEO items, we worked primarily on site speed, no-indexing, Google Search Console error resolution, schema setup, duplicate content, broken links, indexation, and canonicalization. Finally, for the Local SEO optimization piece, we covered GMB profile optimization, local landing page edits, as well as citation and local link building efforts.
What was the team composition?
The team composition from our side included the Associate Director of Marketing, a developer, as well as another member of our marketing department. From Rock The Ranking’s side, we primarily worked with Justin as the head point of contact for all deliverables and project-related tasks.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Regarding the website migration, we were able to successfully migrate over to the new CMS without any loss in traffic. This was extremely important to us, as we wanted to avoid the dreaded drop in rankings that many run into when migrating a website.
From the technical side, we were able to drop our site speed load times from the double-digits down to under the 3-second mark, which was another great accomplishment.
We also were able to ensure that all of our pages were properly being indexed in Google, including our key product pages. From the Local SEO standpoint, we were able to push up key properties into the Google three-pack, driving more calls and inbound visits to the website.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Collaboration and workflows have always been seamless when working with the team at Rock The Rankings. They’ve always provided a clear statement of work as well as project timelines upfront and have always stuck to those.
We managed the workflow process primarily using the help of Google Drive, as well as Trello to ensure we were on track between our two teams. We can always rely on their team to be available for any questions that might arise, and they’re always flexible to jump on a call and walk us through where needed.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
What we found most impressive was their deep knowledge around technical SEO, the ability to help us execute the website migration piece without traffic loss, as well as their ability to help us optimize and improve rankings for multiple locations that we have set up for our businesses.

Rock The Rankings was responsible for delivering in-depth outlines related to the on-page optimizations and changes on a page-by-page level. Their responsibilities included gap analysis and keyword/topical analysis, SERP analysis, and review of our Google Search Console to find and attribute the correct primary and secondary keyword usage to our content.
Additionally, they were also responsible for delivering new topic ideas for informational content, as well as structured outlines and analysis for those pages as well.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked closely with their founder, Justin, throughout the project for all client calls and updates.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
With the completion of this project, we were able to make progress working through a large amount of our content property to optimize and ensure we’re doing everything possible to drive visibility and targeted traffic at the top of the funnel.
Upon review of the performance of these individual pages, we do see positive movements and new terms being gained which is giving our content additional traction when it comes to search traffic.
We plan to continue to monitor performance after completion of the project, so we can more clearly map back movement of our users through the funnel from these starting pages.

The workflow was seamless between our teams - we found a great balance of using our own internal tracking and spreadsheets, and mixing those with the internal processes used by Rock The Rankings. Overall, their process for on-page optimization and structured outlines was very close to ours, so it was a great fit from the get-go.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The outlines that Justin created were thorough, showed his technical SEO savvy, and gave specific guidance so that we could pass the outlines on to our writers, who could then easily implement his recommendations. We learned a ton from his approach.

We see a lot of seasonality with our business, and also had the issues arise of the coronavirus pandemic which heavily impacted most businesses within the travel and tourism industry. With that being said, we still were able to see impressive results, especially from the local markets and Local SEO efforts we worked on together.
Looking at the metrics, for one primary location, we saw a respective increase of 650%+ increase in organic traffic and 100%+ for inbound phone calls coming from customers. For another location, we saw an over 1100%+ increase in organic traffic and 180%+ increase of inbound phone calls. Overall, we massively increased both our local market presence and inbound leads with their help.

Justin and I have built a close relationship after working together on this project. We always had a very communicative and collaborative relationship.
What did you find most impressive about this company?

Rock The Rankings successfully migrated the new CMS without dropping any traffic. They were able to boost the client's key properties in Google's three-pack which resulted in more calls and site visits. Both collaboration and workflow were seamless. Projects were on track thanks to Trello.
