What challenge were you trying to address with Rock Candy Media?

One of our regions has five brands that had completely different logos and branding presences within their markets. We were looking for a vendor that could help us with brand unity and establish an online presence, including a website and social media accounts.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rock Candy designed and built a website and setup social media feeds for each brand. In the process, they helped us create videos, print advertisements, and marketing collateral.

I worked with a project lead primarily as well as a few others on their team depending on the project.

How did you come to work with Rock Candy Media?

I found them through an online search of local firms in Austin and was impressed by their reviews and the style of their work. Once I brought them in to meet with my boss, he decided to hire them on.

We've invested in the range of $50,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2016 and they're on a retainer with us to continue working on our website, social media feeds, and advertisements as needed.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Having an online presence has significantly increased business leads and raised awareness of our company in the local area. We're starting to rank organically and continue to see improvements in our search rankings.

The recruitment ads Rock Candy created for us have also been extremely effective, especially in attracting more Spanish-speaking potential employees. 

How did Rock Candy Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They're organized and very communicative, providing weekly updates on projects and staying on top of priorities as needed. By communicating with one main project lead, expectations are kept very clear and projects are kept on schedule.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're good about prioritizing work and delivering on time, unlike other vendors we've worked with in the past. The best creative is only so helpful when it's late, so we really appreciate their timely approach to their work. They're also good about providing creative input and helping us push the envelop with our branding. They go the extra mile without us even having to ask them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The fact that I'm in a communications role at my company has been very helpful, so I can translate a lot of the type of work Rock Candy is doing and why it's important within our various departments. For others, I'd recommend asking a lot of questions so you fully understand their suggestions and why certain elements of their work are important.

I’m the owner of Kirk Root Designs. We create high-end custom jewelry, provide design consultation, and handle gemstone sales.

We decided to move away from a typical retail sales model and offer more exclusive, appointment-only services, so we needed to rebrand.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided strategic services for our branding and marketing and then implemented those strategies for us. One of their biggest contributions was redesigning our logo and creating a new slogan for us, which then served as the foundation for the website redesign they performed. They also handled all of our SEO and social media management, which included everything from designing content for us to posting it and managing our profiles on Facebook and LinkedIn. Finally, they made us new business cards and created some additional designs for us to use if we want to launch a print media campaign.

We worked with five or six people, including developers, content strategists, and the executive team.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website runs more efficiently than it used to. We also get compliments on the design work and the new logo, both online and on our business cards. The rebranding really helped to legitimize our services in the eyes of potential customers now that we’ve shifted into a new market.

How did Rock Candy Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was flawless. Anytime we’d ask them for something, they’d deliver a result that went well beyond our expectations without us having to push for it. They met or exceeded every deadline and completed everything they promised us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The amount of effort they invest in their clients is really unique. I’ve met with a few other marketing companies in Austin and they all had a perfunctory, industrialized approach that focused on making your business fit into their pre-designed templates. Rock Candy Media interviewed me, figured out what we needed to accomplish, and achieved all those goals in the way that was best suited to our unique needs. The most striking part was that their CEO was in every meeting, looped into every email, and involved in our project every step of the way. I felt like they invested all of their resources into our project and treated us like we were their only customer, even though I know we weren’t.
