Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work for a property management company that operates two student apartment communities in Greensboro, North Carolina.


What challenge were you trying to address with River Crab Marketing?

Our challenge was just in bringing more traffic to our website. We have a busy season for a couple of months before the start of the school year, and then everything kind of dies off once we fill up in August. Since we don’t have continual traffic coming in, we need a way to maintain our online presence so that more students can find us when the search starts again the next year.


What was the scope of their involvement?

I believe the website was developed on WordPress, so they worked within that to create a few new features like resident portal access where students can view and pay their balances or submit requests and things like that. It also has more standard information like floor plans, contacts, and application forms, but we’ve put it all in one place to help streamline the process.

The majority of what they do is marketing, primarily on Facebook and through videos, which is huge when you’re targeting college students. They help us manage our social media accounts, as well as running some paid ad campaigns to drive traffic at particular times of the year.

What is the team composition?

I work with one person directly, and I believe they have a couple of others working on the account, but I’m not completely sure. We’re pretty small, so we don’t really require a lot of manpower.

How did you come to work with River Crab Marketing?

They were referred to us by another person that we know, and we felt like it was a good fit for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $5,500 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2018 and the engagement is ongoing.


What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have a lot of specific numbers, but their work has benefited our online presence tremendously. This year, in particular, has been our biggest leap up so far, and we are gaining more and more traction all the time. They’re extremely accommodating to all our requests and get everything done quickly.

How did River Crab Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

We don’t need a lot out of them on a regular basis, but whenever we do, they are very quick to respond to whatever questions or requests we have and deliver exactly what it is we’re looking for. They go above and beyond when it comes to meeting deadlines, frequently delivering significantly ahead of time. It’s been a great experience all around.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a personal touch in their work that makes dealing with them really enjoyable. I’ve been dealing with one individual for most of the process, and not only are they very professional and accommodating, but they’re also personable and attentive.

They know you by name from the beginning, which just adds a level of value to your relationship as a customer that you don’t find with most bigger marketing companies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, I can’t think of anything I wish they would improve. We’ve never had any issues with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very open with them about exactly what you want, but also be open to suggestions and ideas, because, at the end of the day, it’s their profession. They can make your vision come to life but they can also tweak the idea or the implementation in just the right way to make it that much more successful.
