The Paid User Acquisition project kicked off with an extensive audit of each active app marketing channel, considering past and running campaigns. On a weekly basis, they presented their findings and suggested improvements for each channel. Along with the audit, they checked the correct technical setup with our MMP. Our goals included the improvement of the CPI as well as getting more valuable users.
Toward the end of the project, we analyzed the finished tests, that have been suggested by them, along with suggesting a new improved testing structure based on said analysis. The App Store Optimization’s main focus has been improving organic visibility. On a monthly basis, they analyzed performance, keywords, assets, and competitor ranking.
During a joined call, we talked over their findings as well as them giving suggestions to improve organic performance. Since our own knowledge of ASO has been very limited, they gave valuable insights into the workings of the different Stores and were quick to reply to any of our uncertainties.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work for Seen Dating, a dating app currently available for iOS. We provide transparent dating, so our users, called daters, can see, listen to, and watch any conversations between other users. If two daters have a chat or video call, another dater can read those chats or watch the video so they can get to know each other better and faster. Additionally, there’s a content creation and television side to our app where content created by daters can be used in different formats around the world.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with REPLUG?
We needed help with our retention and CRM efforts. We didn’t have anyone in-house to handle that, so we decided to outsource it to get better retention messaging out to our daters and viewers and engage them better in the app. At the time, we had minimal direct push notifications or in-app messages for our users.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we engaged with REPLUG to get our retention flow in place. They’ve helped us create more user journeys to tap into our user base so we can reach out to them with engaging messaging. They’ve pushed these messages to daters to make them come into the app and spend more time in it. We handle the branding and tone because we use Gen-Z slang, but we work collaboratively. REPLUG helps us refine it and ensure we’re on target with the goal. Additionally, they automate the messaging.
What is the team composition?
We currently have two people on the team: Lorenzo (Co-Founder & Head of Growth) and a retention and success manager. Lorenzo is our overall engagement manager; he oversees the work.
How did you come to work with REPLUG?
Our founder reached out to a larger CRM company, and they referred us to REPLUG. Since we were a smaller business, we felt they’d be a better fit because they could give us more hands-on experience.
How much have you invested with them?
We pay around $5,000 per month, so we’ve spent above $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in October 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We run many retention campaigns at the moment. Overall, we’ve seen a lift in engagement across all the campaigns since they started the project.
How did REPLUG perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is exemplary; they’re wonderful at communicating. We have weekly calls, and they turn in a statement of work from the previous week to run through how they spent their hours and what they worked on. They also update the entire team, even though I'm the only one working directly with them.
They're always easy to reach if there’s a bug in production. Moreover, REPLUG pauses anything in real-time just to be reactive; they just hop on and adjust whatever we might need. All in all, they couldn’t do better from a project management perspective. They have an excellent workflow pipeline; it feels like they’re right in the office with us.
Our video calls are every Wednesday through Google Meet; we typically share screens, run through documentation, and discuss the live campaigns to ensure we’re on target and on track with the project. They’ve never rescheduled; they’re very consistent.
Additionally, they use Trello to track all their tasks, and we use Miro boards to scope the user journeys. We occasionally use Slack and emails to communicate.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their biggest strength is their expertise in CRM and retention. They’ve worked with many clients, so they bring a lot of knowledge and meaningful insights on successfully building out campaigns and user journeys. We benefit from their previous work and can lean on them for insights into the dating community. They're a fantastic agency, and it’s been a great experience.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t have any areas of criticism at the moment. If anything, they’ve had to wait on us because we’ve had to build tech to catch up with what we’re trying to execute. They’ve been wonderfully patient despite that.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Tell them exactly what you’re looking for. They’re wonderful at figuring it out and opening your mind to different ways. Allowing them to provide their expertise and guide you is the best choice; they can help you look outside traditional channels and try something new.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the senior marketing manager at UPDAY, a leading tech and media company, that is operating in 34 European markets. We have four different products in the field of content aggregation and curation. Our main product is the news app “Upday”, that is available on all Android and iOS smartphones.
Upday provides clients with relevant news, both human-curated by professional journalists and personalized by algorithms. Additionally, our company runs an e-sports app, a podcast app and API solutions for various B2B partners.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with REPLUG?
Although we have been in the market for five years now, paid user acquisition was a new challenge for us. At the beginning of our partnership with REPLUG, we did not have a mobile measurement partner integrated into our apps, for example.
Therefore, we wanted to hire a performance marketing agency to support us in building user acquisition channels.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
REPLUG provided us with performance marketing campaign management and technical support. At the start of the project, they showed us detailed examples of what good performance marketing looks like, an in-depth look at user behavior, and tips for our design team to create performance ads. They provided us with a guideline and created a strategic plan to identify the user acquisition (UA )channels of our products.
Apart from that, they took their time to walk us through each campaign and send us detailed reports of the results. They also analyzed keywords and created content for the Play Store and were continually monitoring the aftermarket optimization of our products.
REPLUG recently helped us to integrate an API mobile measurement partner, to ensure the correct tracking of our UA campaign actions.
What is the team composition?
Our main point of contact was Lorenzo (Co-Founder & Head of Growth) as well as Luca (Co-Founder), but we also worked closely with different team members depending on the app.
How did you come to work with REPLUG?
One of our colleagues recommended REPLUG to us as a very experienced and knowledgeable company. They took over our performance campaigns and taught us to understand user acquisition. We felt from the beginning that they were rooting for our succcess, and they really wanted to make our product work.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing partnership started in November 2020.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
For our first project, REPLUG helped us with a UA campaign and achieved a significantly low consumer price index (CPI), so we were very satisfied with the results. Additionally, they also helped us with the app store optimization (ASO) for one of our additional apps and improved the ranking of 100 keywords within just six weeks.
It’s not common for an app to rank high on so many keywords with only a few downloads shortly after its release. By now this app achieved to rank Top five of its Play Store category.
How did REPLUG perform from a project management standpoint?
They performed great. REPLUG is proactive, transparent, detail-oriented, and they always respond to our feedback. We communicate via email, Slack, Zoom, and in some urgent cases, through WhatsApp.
What did you find most impressive about them?
REPLUG is a fairly small agency, so we were very impressed with their responsiveness and personal approach to the partnership. I trust them because they really focused on our goals and were highly creative in finding new solutions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It’s not necessarily something they need to improve, but if they incorporated design services into their company, they could provide complete all-in-one solutions. Otherwise no, I think they are doing a fantastic job.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It depends on the needs, but generally understanding your own goal first and then clearly communicating it does help REPLUG in creating a strategic plan for you.

I’m the founder and CEO of Winelivery, an alcohol delivery service. We have more than 200,000 active clients.

What challenge were you trying to address with REPLUG?
I was looking for support in setting up a new CRM for the company. I was looking for a team who could choose the right platform, to implement some automation, and work on specific KPIs on our userbase. My goal was to boost the number of repeat purchases. I also needed to improve the onboarding process from the download to their first purchase.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
REPLUG began by reviewing our processes. It was a very strict collaboration where they were at the disposal of our team at any time we needed them. We worked together on everything. The real goal was to improve the conversion rate from registration to first purchase and also to boost the number of purchases per active client. They helped do the automation implementation inside the CRM.
I since have given them another project on user acquisitions through Facebook. They’re restructuring our acquisition panel on Facebook and Instagram. They also work on our positioning on the app store. They continue to manage the CRM and APIs.
What is the team composition?
We work directly with the founder.
How did you come to work with REPLUG?
They sent me a cold email with a showcase of a friend of mine. I looked at the use cases and I called my friend asking them if they were good and if what they were telling me was true. My friend said they were good, reliable, and strong. I gave them a one-month contract to address the KPI on the CRM. They were really good and I’ve continued with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We have invested about €40,000 (approximately $48,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in July 2020 and it's ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’m really satisfied with their work. I’ve tried other consultancies in the last five years and REPLUG is the best one. The KPIs are the registration rate, the first purchase rate, etc. We measure their impact on the company.
How did REPLUG perform from a project management standpoint?
They work well with us. Managing the project primarily falls in their hands. They’re able to reach the goal and are compliable to what I ask them. We have a weekly call with my team and their team. We speak 2-3 times a week.
What did you find most impressive about them?
REPLUG is very proactive, flexible, and goal-oriented. If we define the scope and I have something else, they just work on it without any complaints. They aim to reach the goal. It’s not just profit for them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there’s nothing I’d have them improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Just take care of the hourly rate because they are very expensive especially if you compare their prices within the market. I’ve advised them to many intrapreneurs. I really like the way they do their job.

My name is Mirko De Feo. I’m the Head of Growth at Wetaxi. It is a major taxi app in this area.

What challenge were you trying to address with REPLUG?
We were looking for performance marketing campaigns for mobile devices during the expansion of our company. Our marketing team was small and unprepared to face all the campaigns and budgets that needed to be managed during expansion. So, we needed another team to handle budget management and marketing strategies.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They worked in collaboration with our marketing team to create a digital infrastructure that could sustain the expansion. The team also identified opportunities to improve our users’ experience.
They built a data-driven approach, helped optimize the cost of acquisition, and assisted with paid campaigns on Google, Facebook, and other common social media channels.
The architecture design was mainly made by Lorenzo (Co-Founder, REPLUG) and our CTO. Currently, they maintain a few activities for us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The infrastructure was built in order to measure the KPIs required to reach our project goals. The KPIs were on track, and our goals were met. The feedback from users has been mainly positive.

They did well — there were no issues. We mainly used Google Sheets and Slack.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re knowledgeable about mobile and performance marketing, along with how to transition to a digital platform. Their standards are high, and they are very hands-on.

Nothing comes to mind as things ran quite smoothly.

You should clearly communicate expectations and goals. They need training within the organization to better assist with performance and mobile marketing.
