Showreel
A Showreel of our work to promote & support various sustainability initiatives & the people & organisations behind them.

A Quiet Evolution
CLIENT : The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is an independent statutory authority established to increase the supply and competitiveness of Australian renewable energy sources.
THE CLIENT'S BRIEF : ARENA wanted a story to show how renewable energy projects supported by ARENA were benefiting communities in regional Australia.
THE SCOPE OF WORK : REIMAGINE FILMS (RF) was tasked with finding a specific construction site for a Large Scale Solar farm. We settled on the Parkes Solar Farm in NSW. To prepare a script outline for client approval, we visited Parkes and established who could best represent the different stakeholder perspectives required. We also resolved how we could safely move around the 220 ha construction site over the 3 days of filming.
THE RESULTS : Our 3 minute video premiered in the Great Hall of the federal parliament to an audience including Government Ministers and industry leaders & was very well received. It subsequently was posted to facebook - attracting 20,000+ views.
"I couldn't be happier with REIMAGINE FILMS for perfectly delivering on the brief"

Deep Ocean Discoveries
CLIENT : Advances in digital camera technology have made possible the gathering of very detailed imagery. The Oceans and Atmosphere’s Engineering & Technology Program at CSIRO has the design and manufacturing capacity to integrate this technology within a custom built platform for the scientific study of the subsea environment.
THE CLIENT'S BRIEF : The Oceans and Atmosphere’s Engineering & Technology Program wanted to promote their rare capacity to provide complete solutions for scientists wanting to record data in a variety of extreme conditions.
THE STORY REIMAGINED : We worked with senior management to identify a single product that could demonstrate this capacity through interview comments from a cross section of CSIRO engineers and technicians involved in the project.
THE RESULTS :
“The prospect of working with a film producer to highlight our technical work was daunting however Steve had the skills and patience to direct a diverse cast whilst maintaining focus on the impact of our technology. The result is a strong and compelling narrative pitched perfectly for a broad audience.”

Developing the Blue Economy
CLIENT : CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere delivers world-class science that enables governments, industries and communities to make informed decisions about the sustainable management of the marine and atmospheric environments.
THE CLIENT'S BRIEF : CSIRO's Oceans and Atmosphere Communications Manager wanted a video summary of the incredible breadth of their Coasts Program work across both national and international partnerships.
THE SCOPE OF WORK : REIMAGINE FILMS worked with the Coasts Program Director to identify a key research area that would best represent the Program's overall methodologies and objectives.
THE RESULTS : The 3.5 mins short film we produced was welcomed as a quality addition to the Oceans and Atmosphere leadership team's quadrennial presentation to an external Business Review Panel.
"REIMAGINE FILMS worked hard and with good humour to draw out the key science."

Peter Cullen Trust's Leadership Programs
THE CLIENT : 2018 marked the 10th anniversary for the Peter Cullen Trust which maintains the respected influence of a visionary leader for water reform in Australia. Central to the Trust’s mission is the provision of transformative leadership programs for emerging leaders within the water & water-reliant industries.
THE CLIENT'S BRIEF : The Trust wanted to promote their Leadership courses to attract a broader range of applicants from across Australia and so further consolidate its fellowship of progressively minded leaders.
THE STORY REIMAGINED : Peter Cullen is always spoken of with great respect and so the foundation for this story clearly lay with who he was as much as what he did. By capturing how Peter’s work inspired previous course participants, the video seeks to inspire others to apply for their own transformational experience.
THE RESULTS : Amongst the Peter Cullen Trust community of Fellows, this video has been warmly received as a wonderful testimony to Peter and an inspiring introduction for those who have never previously heard of him.
“WORKING WITH REIMAGINE FILMS HAS DELIVERED AN EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT. STEVE TRANSLATED A COMPLEX BRIEF INTO A STORY DRAWN TOGETHER FROM A RANGE OF PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY THAT TELLS OF THE WIDESPREAD IMPACT PROFESSOR PETER CULLEN HAD. THIS FILM WILL PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN KEEPING THAT LEGACY ALIVE.”

Why environmental water when it's wet
CLIENT : The Victorian Environmental Water Holder (VEWH) is an independent statutory body responsible for holding and managing Victoria’s environmental water entitlements.
THE CLIENT'S BRIEF : Following a positive experience for VEWH with REIMAGINE FILMS in the previous year, we were asked to produce another summary video to support the release of their 2016-17 annual ‘Reflections’ report, this time with the central theme : 'Why environmental water flows remain important in ‘wet’ years'.
THE SCOPE OF WORK : REIMAGINE FILMS worked with VEWH to develop a script and shooting approach that could integrate a case study focused on the Barmah Wetlands with an overall commentary on the past year’s activities and achievements from VEWH’s co-Executive Officers.
Location filming on Barmah Lake with the Goulburn-Broken CMA's environmental water manager as well as with several community users of the lake (for both commercial & recreational purposes) helped communicate the full value of environmental water flows at this site.
THE RESULTS : This video delivered important recognition of VEWH’s regional partnerships with Catchment Management Authorities. It broadened the community’s appreciation for why environmental water flows are needed across all weather patterns and how they bring benefits to regional communities as well as fragile natural environments.
"Steve put in significant effort to research the topic prior to filming, which meant that he really understood the vision we had and was the driving force in making it a reality. Ultimately we got a very good video that balanced the necessary corporate information with an engaging story - never an easy task and done very well."

"They did very well, adjusting their processes to our needs, including talent and availability."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work with a national science agency as the communications manager for one of our business units.
What challenge were you trying to address with REIMAGINE FILMS
We had a review of our business, which happens every 5–8 years, and the review is quite high-profile; it involves international experts in certain research fields. We take these opportunities to profile areas of our research that we’ve had a significant impact on. Part of this round involved preparing a series of videos to highlight our research success stories, as well as a video that describes our overall portfolio.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They were involved from the conception stage all the way through the production and delivery of the final products. It was end-to-end service. In the beginning, they worked on the story development and script, and then it was post-production near the end.
The official use was with our panel of business reviewers. We've also used them on our websites to promote each of our teams’ work. Our videos are made to pass the test of time; they have relevance in the subsequent years.
What is the team composition?
Steve (Producer & Filmmaker) was our main point of contact.
How did you come to work with REIMAGINE FILMS
I knew them already and they were invited to tender for the project, along with other suppliers. We were looking for expertise in science communication and storytelling expertise. Their combination of end-to-end service and a storytelling focus made them stand out.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from April–November 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t use any hard metrics to measure the success, but we’ve received really positive feedback on the body of work from our panel of reviewers. The review was very successful, and a part of that was because of the delivery of the video project, as well as its professionalism. At an organizational level, our senior directors were very impressed with the final product.
How did REIMAGINE FILMS perform from a project management standpoint?
They did very well, adjusting their processes to our needs, including talent and availability. This project required them to travel to different locations, and they handled the logistics very well. Steve and I had a close working relationship — a central focus of the way they operate. We communicated over the phone and by email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their willingness to dive deep into the content and understand the science behind it stands out. They did the background work that was central to the project.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We had a large time window and were able to roll with the punches, but if it was a faster, more dynamic project then processes would have to be refined.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you’re looking for a deep-dive, scientific, long-form video, then they should be considered. That’s a specialty of theirs and they’ll deliver a good outcome.
The business review was exceptional, and internal stakeholders are pleased with REIMAGINE FILMS' investment. They dove into the scientific underpinnings of the content, proving themselves to be a dedicated partner. Beyond technical contributions, they excelled at managing logistics and schedules.
