A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the CEO and founder of a marketing platform.
What challenge were you trying to address with Red Horn Digital?
My company wanted to update and polish our platform’s UI/UX. We needed to bring it out of the beta version and make it market-ready.
We built the app from the ground up, so our initial designs were mostly just for development purposes. They may look great to me and my developer, but they were a little rough around the edges. One of the things that our platform lacked was appeal.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Red Horn Digital updated the aesthetics and graphics of our web-based application. They redesigned our onboarding funnel for new accounts and also worked on our inactive pages, giving them a new color scheme and adjusting the font to be aesthetically pleasing.
My developers sent Jenn (Founder & CEO) all of the site’s pages, and she reviewed them. She then made a basic wireframe in Figma and laid out each page in sequence. We were able to have a bird’s eye view of the whole project, as well as zoom in on each page and look at the specifics of different buttons, colored fonts, and stuff like that.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Jenn.
How did you come to work with Red Horn Digital?
They were referred by my developer who worked with Jenn on another business.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $3,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from January–March 2021. There are a couple of other things that we want to do, but those are on hold for now. We are going to take what we have to the market, and we'll reconsider the other projects later if needed.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Red Horn Digital had done a really good job. Their work will significantly impact the reception of our products. They gave our site a more coherent look and feel.
The app has not yet been launched, but Jenn did a great job of making it pop and look more appealing.
How did Red Horn Digital perform from a project management standpoint?
They were decent at project management. Jenn's located in Austin, and they experienced an ice storm while we were working together. Despite that, our workflow was pretty good, and she delivered within the budget. We communicated through email and Zoom.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Jenn has some executive experience, which gives her an extra edge as a designer. I appreciated that she’s not just designing from an artistic standpoint, but that she’s considering the business as well.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have all of your screens and deliverables ready upfront. We rushed in the initial stage of development as we hadn’t prepared the screens. Send all of your files at once so that you can also give notes on the whole project, instead of little notes here and there.
Thanks to Red Horn Digital, the site improved its aesthetic and gained a more coherent look and feel. They displayed good project management by delivering despite a heavy ice storm. Customers can expect a creative team with executive experience that can balance creative design and business needs.
