Can you please provide a brief description of your company?

Our company is a property, casualty and life insurance company. We have about 4,100 employees, we write in 26 states, and have about 6,100 independent agents that represent us.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I’m the IT Manager in charge of our ECM projects.


What were your company’s business goals for this particular project?

We had purchased a new claim administration system and we needed to associate a document repository with that and we chose to use IBM’s FileMan and Datacap products. Pyramid Solutions helped us with the analysis, design and configuration to get that setup.

Why did you choose IBM for your ECM needs?

We evaluated several different companies.  What attracted us to IBM’s products was performance, scalability, reliability and then also the ease of use to interact with it through APIs and other means.


What was your process for selecting Pyramid Solutions?

We looked at a couple of business partners that were recommended to us by IBM.  Ultimately, we picked Pyramid based on references and their experience seem to be deeper than the other business partners that we had talked with locally. 

Can you please provide a dollar amount to give a sense of the size of the initiative?

It was probably between $100,000 and $200,000.


What were the results of that project?  Do you have any stats or metrics to track improvement?

We had a previous document management system that we were using.  This project wrapped up nicely because the new system integrated well with our claims administration system so that we didn’t have to have people working in the claims administration system and also working in the document management system. It is a little bit hard for us to measure productivity improvements that we saw, but we definitely got rave reviews from our associates that are now using it.

How did Pyramid perform during the project?

Good. We had a couple of people that were knowledgeable about the products and knowledgeable about our options and how we could integrate using the APIs to accomplish things that we wanted to accomplish with integrating with our claims system. Their team is very competent.

What is unique or special about Pyramid compared to some other IT vendors you may have encountered?

Pyramid Solutions seems to be very focused and interested in  what we’re doing and how we’re doing it, they wanted to be helpful at all levels.

Is there anything that you felt they could improve upon or done differently?

No, we had some issues with the IBM ECM suite but that was handled through IBM. That wasn’t related to Pyramid Solutions but it made that project more difficult.
