Web & Software Development for Recruitment Agency
"They’ve definitely exceeded our expectations based on the costs and complexity of the coding of the site and software."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and founder of RecruitMe, a recruitment agency. We’re actually the first company to develop and implement video recruitment and job boards.
What challenge were you trying to address with PureLogics?
We needed someone to provide us with web and software development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We divided the project with PureLogics into four sectors. We have the web development aspect, the UI component, the data management, and the development of the product itself.
Their team has been helping us create the UI for account information, as well as the database that contains all the information for our background screenings. Furthermore, they provided us with API development to retrieve and report data for users. They use JavaScript for the development of the website, and C++ for the UI software.
We’re still working with them for website maintenance and software security updates.
What is the team composition?
Our main point of contact is the project manager, and we’re also working with about three developers, a database manager, and a security specialist.
How did you come to work with PureLogics?
They were a strong recommendation from several colleagues in Chicago.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested somewhere between $60,000–$100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The ongoing partnership started in November 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Since partnering with PureLogics, we were able to improve the performance of our site and software, resulting in an increase in user engagement and onboarding.
PureLogics has been very responsive in keeping the site up and running based on the different server sizes to make the customer experience more seamless.
How did PureLogics perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve definitely exceeded our expectations based on the costs and complexity of the coding of the site and software. We typically communicate through Zoom, emails, and Skype.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re impressed with their seamless project management expertise.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Maybe they could report the technical aspects of the project in layman’s, so I can easily understand the details and progress.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice is to provide PureLogics with the creative freedom to build their own designs. This is something that I should’ve done at the beginning of our project because I believe it would’ve saved us more time.

Wordpress Website Management for E-Learning Platform

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder and manager of a small company that offers assistance to students who are studying mathematics at the level of 16 to 19 years old. We run a website where these students can watch videos about mathematics, take quizzes, and connect with their tutor.
What challenge were you trying to address with PureLogics?
We needed someone to build our website and expand our services.
What was the scope of their involvement?
PureLogics helped develop our WordPress website. They came into the picture as we were expanding the services offered on the site. Their team is responsible for planning and executing services on the platform as well as QA. Our teams look into our visitors and how they interact with the site to find areas to improve.
What is the team composition?
Over the years, there have been maybe 8–10 people involved in my project. On a monthly basis, I typically have four people that I connect with and two on a day-to-day basis.
How did you come to work with PureLogics?
I connected with them through Upwork. I set up a task there and received a lot of applicants. From there, I looked at the qualifications. After a round of interviews, I chose PureLogics because I got a very good first impression.
How much have you invested in them?
Over the last year, it has been $2,000 to $3,000 monthly. It started with less but has gradually increased as we expanded the engagement.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them around January 2014, and it's ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Having worked with many people, I know that they are doing a very good job. I probably wouldn’t be able to find anyone who could do this job better.
How did PureLogics perform from a project management standpoint?
They are very good at project management. Our teams interact on a daily basis. We use Skype or Zoom to communicate.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are a good-sized firm and have quite a big pool of employees. If someone is looking for cost-efficient IT development, there are great benefits to companies that have many employees. Clients can move up and down their chain of command and get advice and assistance. Overall, the whole quality and competence increases.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, everything was great.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Communicate with them on Skype or Zoom because you can talk to them instead of writing, and their English is very good as well. Get in touch and establish a good relationship with face-to-face communication.

Custom Software Dev for Educational Platform
"Their team was able to explain to us what they needed from us to be successful."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a co-founder and board member of StudyEdge — an educational platform company.
What challenge were you trying to address with PureLogics?
We needed to build the platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
PureLogics helped us build the platform. When we started, we had requirements and a framework for the design. Their team executed the design process. We also had the architecture for how we wanted to structure the systems, but they wrote all of the code, which involved PHP. It was custom software development.
The platform was originally a Facebook application and then PureLogics moved it to a website with Facebook Connect. They also integrated the platform with a content delivery network, Akamai. Their team also built a way for us to automatically scale to prevent an overload of our server because, at the time, AWS didn’t have the ability to automatically scale.
After we received funding, we hired an onshore development team but also kept them for the night shift. Their team allowed us to perform continuous development.
What is the team composition?
My main point of contact at PureLogics was Muhammed (COO).
How did you come to work with PureLogics?
We went through a bunch of different companies before we found PureLogics. I figured out that it’s not so much about finding development talent but more so about finding a person who can be your champion at an offshore company. Muhammed fit that role.
How much have you invested with them?
We probably spent close to $350,000–$400,000 on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together between 2010–2014. We rolled PureLogics off because we had a mandate to bring an onshore team on board.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Today, the platform has about 30,000 students across the country using it on average every day. At the time, we didn’t know how many videos we would need to upload. They built a platform with the ability to upload and create a hosting environment on the fly that’s also interactive. We upload more videos than ESPN.com does every single day. That’s a lot of data.
How did PureLogics perform from a project management standpoint?
Early in the engagement, we flew by the seat of our pants. We then moved into an Agile process and had weekly calls. They made the meetings much more organized. As we matured, we had to keep track of the project from development and budget standpoints. We measured it on a quarterly basis, and they only went over budget one quarter primarily because we requested additional work.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their team was able to explain to us what they needed from us to be successful. That was important because this was my first time working with an offshore vendor.
Are there any areas they could improve?
When requirements aren’t clear, they should ask questions as opposed to assuming they know the answer. There were only a couple of times when that happened.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
As with any offshore company, it’s important to be clear with your requirements. You can’t leave it up to the imagination.

Full Stack Dev for Shopify App Development Company
“It’s their end-to-end service that’s most appealing about them.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of a company that makes Shopify apps for e-commerce companies.
What challenge were you trying to address with PureLogics?
We started the app ourselves but soon realized that we needed a lot of staff augmentation. There was a gap in our founding team’s technical skill set, so we worked with PureLogics to fill those in.
What was the scope of their involvement?
PureLogics handles full stack development for our Shopify web apps, from building the frontend JavaScript UI to coding the backend database services. They even support our AWS infrastructure.
Our projects are structured around an agile methodology. It’s divided into two-week sprints where we define our specs and wireframes, and then we have daily stand-ups with their team to stay on track.
What is the team composition?
We have a project manager, a lead developer, and two additional developers. Every once in a while, they’ll bring in a UI specialist to implement all of the frontend work. Finally, there’s their COO who referred us to Clutch. He was our initial point of contact when we first started working with them.
How did you come to work with PureLogics?
We have a very long relationship that goes back over ten years ago. At my first startup, I reached out to them for outsourced development work. Then, when I went back into corporate jobs at world-renown tech companies, I brought them in for web development. That’s why I came back to them again for this project.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $250,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together on this project in July 2017, and the work is ongoing. It’s always a constant work-in-progress. They’ll still work on bug fixes or address simple requests on live apps that we’ve built back in 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve had about 10,000 customers (e-commerce stores) who’ve used our app, which speaks to the scale of the development and the infrastructure that goes along with it.
As with any application, there are going to be bugs and crashes, but PureLogic has been good about being very responsive to address those issues. For example, there have been instances when we’ve had server outages during US daylight hours. I’ve had to call them at their 2 a.m. to wake them up and get our servers working. We try to prevent those cases so that I don’t have to do that, but I still appreciate how reliable they’ve been for me.
How did PureLogics perform from a project management standpoint?
PureLogics uses project management practices that engineers here in Silicon Valley follow. They actually introduced me to a Scrum/agile framework, which has helped me with project management. As for communication, we use the typical channels: email, Skype, Zoom, and Slack. They use Jira to facilitate a lot of our project check-ins.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Speaking more anecdotally, the fact that I’ve been working on and off with them for over 10 years is a testimonial in and of itself. It just goes to show how much trust I have in them and the quality of their work.
They have a full stack development shop. I don’t need to find someone who specializes in AWS or database administration (DBA) because they have those resources in-house. It’s their end-to-end service that’s most appealing about them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
If I were to nitpick on something, it would be to make sure that they properly vet the developers that they bring on. Every once in a while, they’ll throw in a new engineer for us as our team grows, and it ends up being a bit of a mess because they aren’t the right fit. That’s par for the course for any firm — there will always be really good engineers and not so great ones.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
The client needs to know exactly what they want to implement, have their specs clear and crisp, and then communicate them.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a women’s healthcare company.
What challenge were you trying to address with PureLogics?
We needed an app built that could tell women when to take a test, as well as read the test for them.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We needed the initial Android and iOS wireframe. They programmed it and worked on image analysis, camera functions, UI, and other related processes. The initial development took about six months, but PureLogics continues to work on and improve our app.
What is the team composition?
We have a project manager, iOS developer, Android developer, QA person, and a backend developer.
How did you come to work with PureLogics?
I received an email from them. I talked with some local companies and the one that I felt was the most competent was PureLogics.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested about $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a marketing technology platform that generates leads for the financial services industry.
What challenge were you trying to address with PureLogics?
We needed help building our platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They built our platform from scratch. We started with a bare-bone lead generation process and started to add features and processes as our business grew. They used Linux, MySQL, and PHP.
What is the team composition?
We worked with 5–10 people from their team.
How much have you invested with them?
I found them on a freelancer platform. I felt comfortable with their team and it’s been great to watch them grow from four people to over 200. Their firm is definitely a success story and I’ve become friends with their owner.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2010, and our work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The platform they built was successful and our business is definitely growing. Without the platform they built, we wouldn’t have our business.
How did PureLogics perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is certainly a strength of theirs. We’re also instant messaging and we Skype regularly. They always adapt their schedule to my hours and are always available. We share documents on Google Drive and
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were particularly strong with guiding the project and not just doing what I asked. They made me realize that, in some cases, I wasn’t designing products in an optimal way.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they’ve always done what they said they would do. Sometimes they would underestimate timelines in the early days, but they improved that pretty early on. The team I worked with has always been consistent.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It falls on the business owner to articulate as clearly as they can what they want from their tech team. It’s a lot easier said than done. If you give them clear input, you’ll get clear output. Be as clear as you can and always make sure that they understand what your vision is.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Our company provides cloud-based external communication solutions for companies at the project level. I am the co-founder and CEO of the company.
For what projects/services did your company hire PureLogics, and what were your goals?
Our enterprise clients needed more robust functionality built on top of our existing solution and it needed to be launched in an expedited manner. Our goal was to release the updated solution in 90 days and the PureLogics team delivered as promised.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We had established a previous working relationship with the owner and he and his team had performed some work with us before in the past and we were pleased with their responsiveness and results.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The technologies used were Angular, Node.js, and Postgres. Some of the additional features that the team helped build and launch included project-based chat functionality, intelligent tracking, and meta-tagging of data. They helped us design the UX/UI and test several mockups of the newly built features.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We had anywhere between 4-7 team members depending on the scope of the sprints. These included a PM, 1 or 2 backend developers, 1 or 2 frontend developers, a designer and a QC member.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
After launching the revamped functionalities we saw or enterprise client base grow 40% in just a few weeks. The team's work was effective and it helped us deliver a product that was rapidly scalable.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We communicated mainly via Slack and Jira, which helped keep everything in order. We used InVision to review mockups and UX/UI. The team was timely in their execution and met the deliverables on time.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They are very responsive. Any critical bug fixing was managed swiftly and successfully. Also, when we were behind schedule the team was able to quickly assemble additional team members to pick up the slack and meet the deadlines.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Overall the team did a great job and were really responsive. They can improve their QC process, which at times seemed to be lacking, but with careful planning and under the direction of the PM we were able to make up for this resource.
