Introduce your business and what you do there.
I teach Bagua, a martial arts style that has 2,300 techniques. I’ve gone to China to learn it, and after being there for 20 years, I’m now trying to get into the American market to teach it.
What challenge were you trying to address with Pullman Marketing?
When I returned to the US, I searched for a way to teach Bagua online. A lot of people wanted to know about it, but they didn’t know how. Given that, I needed a video format that people could easily access. I also wanted people to easily choose techniques they wanted to learn. Doing this in a simple, uncomplicated, and non-intimidating way was always a challenge because I wanted everyone to be a part of the program. To help me do that, I hired Pullman Marketing.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Pullman Marketing created a website that provided information about Bagua in an easy-to-understand format and allowed people to easily participate. The team asked me a lot of questions and showed me options on how the website would work and what platform we could use. In the end, we agreed to use Teachable. Then, they helped me write clear articles and essays on how each of our packages worked. On top of that, they created a video that highlighted the details of my program, including what it offered and how people would benefit from it.
To do all of these things, I initially gave Pullman Marketing access to everything that I had done so far on social media. I gave them my YouTube videos, along with the interviews I did, articles I wrote, and translations I provided. In other words, I opened up my social media world to them. After that, they worked to put these assets together in a cohesive, easily comprehensible manner.
What is the team composition?
I worked with four people from their team. One of them was in charge of producing the video, while the other three collaborated on putting together our website and marketing strategies. They compartmentalized the tasks and divided the work among themselves.
How did you come to work with Pullman Marketing?
I used to work with Adam (Agency Owner). He worked on the computers while I taught English at Washington State University (WSU). That was how we met. As soon as I came back from China, we saw each other and I began telling him about my marketing problems, though I didn’t know he was in the marketing business. Eventually, he introduced me to his team, and I was blown away by their ability to put things into a comprehensive format. As a result, I hired them.

We spent $5,000 on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started and finished in July 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Pullman Marketing was amazing as far as the help they provided. I couldn’t put that in any other way. They did a great job collaborating with me. It was extremely easy and didn’t take much of my time. Moreover, the way they put everything together showed that they truly understood the product at a deeper level. As a result, people who participated in the program better understood Bagua. I was truly grateful for that.
On top of that, they finished the project in a little less than two weeks. After that, I was already receiving money from students. In fact, I made around $500 on the first day of the website while attracting more interest from different sets of students. They helped me access a whole new market that I wouldn’t otherwise get. Moreover, those new audiences even shared my product with other people and associates. This was a huge deal for me.
Apart from the financial gains, I also acquired knowledge on how to market things by myself. As a result, I more clearly understood how I could attract more consumers to a product that they weren’t familiar with and push it ahead. After launch, all I had to do was to continue uploading new content. If I had any problem, I could contact them and they could show me how to fix it easily. They could also fix it themselves.
How did Pullman Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
I’d worked with different people in various programs, and while those people were helpful, the results weren’t worth all the effort. By contrast, Pullman Marketing surpassed my expectations in terms of results and management.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They could turn my simple ideas into something deeper; I could give them a dot, and they’d turn it into a sphere, so to speak. They gave me three-dimensional approaches on how my product should work. In a lot of ways, this allowed me to see possibilities around what I could do with my program from different angles.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there weren’t any.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Even though you’re highly familiar with the Internet, social platforms, and marketing videos, you’ll still need Pullman Marketing to explain these things. Getting their professional help to show you what everything is will set you up for life — you’ll use that knowledge for yourself in the future. In other words, you should work with them at least once so that you know what you’re doing online.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of Palouse Carpet Cleaning. We’re a carpet and flooring cleaning and installation company — we’re a small business.
What challenge were you trying to address with Pullman Marketing?
We hired Pullman Marketing to help us with customer acquisition.
What was the scope of their involvement?
As I came in with a blank slate, Pullman Marketing told me their thoughts. Once they gave me some preliminaries, we went back and forth with iterations.
Pullman Marketing has done our brand creation. Their in-house graphic design team has helped us quite a bit with logo generation. They’ve also helped us with our website design and implementation. We’ve provided the content for the website, and they’ve done the design and layout.
They’ve incorporated a form on our website for our customers to request a quote on our services. Additionally, we work together on keyword searches, and they come up with the keywords.
In addition to that, Pullman Marketing assists us with our Google listings, advertising, and Google Map location services. They also do advertising on different social media platforms, including Facebook. We run ads based on the season. This relationship has been an iterative back-and-forth process until we get what we want.

How did you come to work with Pullman Marketing?
I personally knew the owner of Pullman Marketing because we went to the same church — he’s a friend of mine. I knew his character and needed someone to guide me through a process that was completely unfamiliar to me.
I was a pretty easy target to take advantage of, and I trusted Adam and his team to not do that, which is what helped me chose them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in June 2018, and the partnership is ongoing. As my business grows, it needs to be represented in different ways online and on social media. Therefore, we have an ever-growing, evolving relationship.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
One of the best things they’ve done is the form that they’ve implemented — it has driven a lot of business my way. As our understanding of the industry has been growing, the keyword effectiveness has been growing, too.
It’s easy for us to ask our customers how they’ve found us because of the traffic we get from phone calls and emails. If the traffic is through a web search or social media, it’s because of Pullman Marketing’s work.
In addition to that, we get emails from the forms on our website. Every time one of those forms shows up, it’s directly attributable to Pullman Marketing. This morning, for instance, we saw three new forms.
I get around 5–15 solicitations for website development and social media management each day through emails. I get bombarded by Yelp to use various platforms, and I receive calls from people pretending to be from Google, trying to solicit services. I’ve been able to hand all of that confusion to Pullman Marketing, and they’ve managed it all.
How did Pullman Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
Pullman Marketing has done a great job. There have been times when they’ve outpaced me, which means that I’ve got going on something and lost track of it. However, they don’t lose track and they take it all the way to a finish line.
They’ve also helped me rethink what I’m asking for and whether it is going to be effective. Managing the project, they’ve really worked for me and have accomplished not just what I ask for, but also what is actually going to be most effective. I have Preston’s phone number, so I can just call him and we also communicate through email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re in a very confusing space because a lot of people are trying to take advantage of ignorance. I needed someone to trust in an area where I was really susceptible to being manipulated. To have someone that I can trust means the world to me and speaks volumes about the Pullman Marketing team. I’m very grateful.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think everyone can grow in their communication skills. I don’t know anything about the market — it’s such a black box for me. Therefore, Pullman Marketing has taken the time to explain what’s happening and what they’re doing, which must be a cumbersome process. A little more communication would be really helpful.
Any advice for potential customers?
Working with Pullman Marketing, not only do you have a marketing company, but you have a friend. That makes all the difference in the world. They’re more than a business partner, which has made a tremendous difference and has helped our social media and web presence be an effective tool for my company.
