A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there
I’m the marketing coordinator at a regional-based law firm in Denver, Colorado.
What challenge were you trying to address with Proventus Consulting?
We wanted to get our name out on the national level. We approached Proventus in order to expand beyond the strict legal community and showcase ourselves as a community-based firm in Colorado and across the US.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They came out and took time meeting with our senior attorneys and partners to understand the ins-and-outs of our business. After they listened to our goals, they came up with a PR plan.
They’ve written press releases and have generated blog content for us. They’re also ghost-writing articles for our attorneys. If any of them are quoted in a new piece, they’ll write a summary recap for us to showcase on our website.
In one instance, I had five marketing events in one week, and our account rep flew out to Denver to help ensure its amazing success.
What is the team composition?
I work directly with one account representative, Taylor (Legal Marketing Professional). She and her team brainstorms with us on the best ways we can approach media interactions. There’s a whole team behind the scenes that helps us determine what to say and when to say it.
How did you come to work with Proventus Consulting?
A former owner of their company wrote an article for the Legal Marketing Association magazine that I subscribe to. My boss and I, who happened to be looking for a new PR firm at the time, were very impressed by the article.
We interviewed them and were very taken with them. They came out and met with me on their own dime, which left an amazing impression on us. While we were initially skeptical about a remote engagement, we took a leap of faith and hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent somewhere around $5,000 a month, so it’s been a little over $125,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership began in March 2018, and it’s very much ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’ve been absolutely fantastic. Thanks to their stellar work, we’ve achieved increased industry recognition. We’ve since ranked in Chambers and Partners as well as Benchmark Litigation, honors of which both hold incredible significance in the legal community. It’s also almost entirely unheard of for a firm to secure those rankings in the first submission, which highlights how incredible their work is.
They also significantly boosted our media coverage and presence. I couldn’t tell you how many local and trade publications they’ve secured for us. Their efforts have helped us double our awards in the area of “best lawyers”, as well.
How did Proventus Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?
It’s clear that they customize their project management approach to you as the client. Taylor and I talked every Monday. We’d discuss weekly projects and updates in our check-ins. From there on out, we utilize Google Docs to track our quote placements and article securements. We also hold a weekly recap on Friday.
I get an invoice every month and a report of everything they’ve accomplished, so I receive a lot of information from them on what they’re doing. It’s an efficient, transparent system.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They really feel like a true partner. They get us, since they’ve worked with law firms before. They’re able to take any challenge we throw at them and run with it. Finally, they’ve truly provided excellent results.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only thing that I can think of is that they could diversify their account management team. I work intensely with just one account rep, and it’s always a little concerning if that person goes on vacation or falls ill. That being said, Taylor has been great about prepping the rest of her team members with where she’s at, so if she does have to step aside for any reason, they can pick things up seamlessly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don’t hesitate to rely on them as a partner. Their team has a tremendous amount of experience working with various law firms across the country. They have great insight, and the value of having a neutral third-party opinion on media outreach truly shines through with them.
Proventus Consulting succeeded in acquiring national recognition for the client, who attained significant honors in major legal publications. Their strategic initiatives have secured countless media placements for the client. The team is organized, effective, and customer-oriented in their approach.
