We hired Prismetric to create a social networking mobile application.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to enable people to able to connect with each other easily and quickly, through the use of a mobile app. The goal for us was to create our social networking application natively on both IOS and Android.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

As we are bootstrapped start up from Australia, local developers were out of the question as they were too expensive.Therefore, out only option was to outsource to a reasonable company overseas. I researched many companies, through looking at their prices, previous work and reputation. I ended up choosing Prismetric due to the factors above.

Describe the project in detail.

We had developed detailed functional requirements and wireframes for Prismetric to analyse. They had come back with a really reasonable quote. They were also flexible in allowing us to the do graphics component of the User Interface, thus reducing our costs. Once the agreements were made, it was full speed ahead and they had done a great job at implementing the solution.

What was the team composition?

I was speaking Hardik who was the project manager. He was awesome in delivering a good product. It was also great to see that they were flexible in delivering minor changes to the application at no added cost (this is rare with development companies). Hardik was always available for calls and messages over Skype and is really good to deal with. Its essential to have a good project manager running your project, and you project is in safe hands with Hardik.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We had a working prototype of the application which is ready to go. We are currently in the phase of the beta test which is going well.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was really good and stress-free. They would always address our feedback and would suggest better solutions than what we had.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The quality of the application was quite good and their implementation of the UI was outstanding. They also offered me 6 months of free bug support which is really good!

Are there any areas for improvement?

The project did run a little overtime than what we were initially told. But they delivered the project at no extra cost.

Though we had a good presence in the market, I felt that our brand name would get better identification and notation among our prospective clients if we had a better ERP system. The scope was to build an ERP and CRM system that would help our employees track, maintain, and update the organization’s resources. It also had to manage our data more efficiently. Additionally, they’ve given us a few ideas on how we can use the CRM to effectively market our services.

I met the managing director and CEO of Prismetric at a business conference. When discussing my ideas, growth, and business augmentation for UniversalStainless, they shared their insights about active ways they could make my endeavors more achievable.

Yes, the project is an ongoing one. The estimated timeline for the completion was 18 weeks.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the results of the project? Are there any success stories or metrics you can share?

The project just reached the half-way point, and the CRM they developed is incredible. We’ve already started using it, and our processes are much more seamless than they were. We’re saving a lot of man-hours and reaching out to customers in a timelier manner. Once the entire system is complete, we’re sure it will provide us with a refined business system.

Communication is one of the factors that sets them apart from the rest. The project manager was available whenever we needed an explanation or project progression details. They have a good team, and every aspect of my requirement has been taken care of. On the whole, our partnership with them has been smooth so far.

Within just a few weeks, they created an admin panel for the products, and we received screenshots and a flowchart of the customer app. After about a month, we were able to download the first version of our customer app and see the progress in real time. 

In two more months, the app was nearly completed, but then we decided to change our business model and develop an app for drivers and a progressive e-commerce website. That work is currently in progress.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager that we were assigned is easy to communicate with. We have Skype calls every two weeks on average (sometimes more often when needed), and we communicate every 2–3 days via messages. The responses have always been quick and productive.

Compared to the bad experience I had, Prismetric is top-notch. The team provides weekly development updates. They test new releases over the weekend, report their performance the following Monday, and then adjust based on our feedback. This approach has been consistent and precise. We switched from Basecamp to Excel in the runup to going live because the latter was more conducive to our needs. Although we still use Basecamp for updates, we now utilize Google Drive to prioritize action items.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Prismetric fosters understanding between teams, which we haven’t experienced with other offshore vendors. The team’s prioritization of relationship management enhances their impressive designs. The team’s insight and guidance reflect their expertise.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The project manager role experienced turnover about midway through development. The handover could have been tighter. Some information slipped through the cracks, but given the personal circumstances for the departure, there wasn’t much more Prismetric could have done. Having a backup structure in place would make future coordination smoother.

Make sure both sides are clear about workflows because it’s important to be on the same page. They have a great way of working, and I found myself aligning with their approach, even though it wasn’t my necessarily my style. Be flexible and adaptable, as they are open to change as well.

We just launched our platform last week. Slowly but surely, our product is increasing in popularity and brand recognition as we gain more followers on social media. We generally use email, Basecamp, and on the rare occasion, Google Hangouts. I’m pleased with how rapidly they respond.  We’ve spoken on the phone twice in the past year.

Prismetric offers a much higher level of service than the Australian company we used beforehand. Despite the team’s offshore location, communication has been excellent. It’s been a good experience working together. If I had to do it again, I’d go back and build my entire product from scratch with Prismetric.

They’re much nicer to work with; they’re very accommodating and have never been arrogant. Prismetric has built everything they said they would at a much more competitive price. They've created twice as many features as the Australian developer completed for the same cost.
