Web Development for Data Analytics Platform
“They put themselves in our shoes and predict what our needs might be. It’s been helpful.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a data analytics platform that supports some of the largest events in the US. Our clients are at the top of their industries, whether that’s food, technology, materials, healthcare, or more.
What challenge were you trying to address with Pixetic?
We had a wealth of client data that was all over the place and needed help designing a scalable internal tool to process it.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Pixetic has helped develop a web platform that allowed our in-house team to easily clean, structure, and ultimately analyze our client data. The solution is based on a Microsoft stack, including Azure, Microsoft Data Factory, and SQL.
They've also made sure that both the front- and backend worked well with each other, using Figma to design the frontend.
What is the team composition?
Over the last two years, we’ve worked with 3–4 resources depending on the project needs.
How did you come to work with Pixetic?
Our technical advisor was using Pixetic and recommended them along with two other companies. After doing our due diligence, we ended up picking them.
How much have you invested with them?
To date, we’ve spent at least $200,000. Our first month was within the $5,000–$7,000 range, but we’ve ramped up to between $24,000–$25,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with them since August 2017, and there are still some unfinished pieces we need to work on. Currently, we’ve paused our engagement due to the coronavirus.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve been able to push out 25%–30% more work with the same headcount because of the work they’ve done with us. And that’s just the impact from our first phase of development — there are still two more phases left, so we expect our efficiency to continue to increase going forward.
How did Pixetic perform from a project management standpoint?
We have particularly great people on our project. The team is transparent, highly communicative, and good to work with.
In fact, their project management is so good that we’ve adopted their agile process into our own culture. We have morning and evening standups and communicate through JIRA and Confluence.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Pixetic is willing to dig down to really understand what our business is, the goal being to break things down from a utility standpoint. They put themselves in our shoes and predict what our needs might be. It’s been helpful, and we’ve seen their best work because of it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t have any critiques from my side. If anything comes up, I tell them directly, and they pivot quickly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you put enough time, effort, and energy into describing what you want to build, they’ll double it. They’re extremely good when they have a good understanding of the background. In the beginning, we didn’t explain what we wanted to be done or what the use cases were in detail.
As we’ve continued to work together, they’ve learned about our business and have been able to add more value to our business. They’ll recommend best practices that they’ve implemented with another client, which ends up being a gamechanger for our project.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the COO at a small healthcare information technology company.
For what projects/services did your company hire Pixetic?
We hired Pixetic to do the UI/UX for a new healthcare IT application (in development) with a mobile front-end.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals were to create a great user experience that would help promote actual behavior change by providing easy-to-understand data and feedback to users on a real-time basis.
How did you select this vendor?
We interviewed three design firms and selected Pixetic. Our senior engineer and product manager led the selection process. The deciding factor was the skill base that Pixetic offered at a really competitive price point.
Describe the project in detail.
The scope of the project was five feature sets that each had a specific user workflow and data that had to be displayed in an easy-to-understand way. In addition, there were two different sets of dashboards as well as a small messaging and notifications section within the app.
We did the engineering, and Pixetic did the QA. Pixetic also designed each mobile screen and workflow for three types of users on our application. My role in the project was to set the product direction and be the final arbiter on any design challenges.
What was the team composition?
There were three people involved from Pixetic—a QA lead, a project manager and a UI/UX senior designer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
It would have cost 3x as much to have the design and QA done locally, and the quality would have been inferior to what we received from Pixetic. Working with Pixetic totally exceeded my expectations.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow between our team and Pixetic was effective because we had daily calls where we did real work. We set achievable goals and saw progress every day. And, best of all, whenever anyone was stuck, we would just talk about the barriers and move past them.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
A team is only as good as the people on it. The team from Pixetic stood out because they are capable, talented, smart and great to work with. Our QA lead was detail oriented and effective in troubleshooting. Our designer, Nazar (Senior UI/UX Designer, Pixetic), consistently designed beautiful user interfaces that are simple and effective. He asked insightful questions and made great suggestions on feature functionality as well as user workflow. He was fast, detail oriented, and he delivered work within the timeframe that he estimated.
Are there any areas for improvement?
There are none that I can think of at this time.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m СЕО of a software development company. We’re experts in IoT, FinTech and Data Science. We provide innovative and quality solutions and services for our customers.
For what projects/services did your company hire Pixetic?
We needed to hire an external resource to perform a UX Audit for one of the biggest media companies in our country.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to get a fresh perspective on design from an expert not involved in the initial design process. Our main aims were to discover blind spots and identify areas to improve in order to deliver the best quality product to our customer.
How did you select this vendor?
We looked at several design agencies. We decided to go with Pixetic because we knew them to be experts in their field. We also needed a quick assessment and Pixetic was able to meet our deadline.
Describe the project in detail.
Pixetic team performed a review and heuristic evaluation of designs for an updated news portal. We gave them access to analytics of the live version of the portal in order to understand how people interacted with product. They presented us with an audit report, and then helped us to implement the changes.
What was the team composition?
We worked with one UX designer and one part-time design manager.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Pixetic delivered a UX audit report with solid assessment results and numerous recommendations on how to improve existing designs. The redesigned portal is now live and shows good results.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Pixetic led well-organized conversations in order to gather as much information as needed. We spoke a lot at key moments: at the beginning of joint work and at the end when we discussed their report.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their team was friendly, collaborative, and fast. Pixetic delivered exactly what we expected, which was the key point of our short collaboration. We received the promised outcomes of the audit, plus help with implementing their proposed improvements.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We used their services for only two months. Everything was quite smooth.

Branding and Website Dev for Theatre
"The balance they managed to achieve between our creative vision and theirs was outstanding."

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m an assistant manager of growth at a theater. Beginning in 2017, our team has been actively working on the theater’s growth, developing new projects for both children and adult visitors.
For what projects/services did your company hire Pixetic?
We chose Pixetic to work on the development of our new website. The previous version was outdated, and our visitors were more inclined to find us via theater catalogs. Quickly, however, we realized building a new website without creating a new visual language and identity was practically impossible.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted a completely refreshed website, logo, and auxiliary visuals to combine into an organic brand. These would help us makeover our theatre and shift how our visitors perceived us.
How did you select this vendor?
We were considering several design agencies, but after a workshop with Pixetic, we realized we wanted to work with them.
Describe the project in detail.
They worked on a new website design and markup, as well as a logo, fonts, and visuals for all our current plays. They began with the logo and then transitioned to branding details before building the actual website. Their team also designed new posters and delivered a repertoire of brochures.
What was the team composition?
We worked with a project manager, a visual designer, a UX designer, and a UI engineer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The logo, style, and posters all reflect our brand. Guests can now study the theater's offerings online, and, more importantly, learn about our new and future shows. In the past, there was no convenient way to tell our visitors about our new shows.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We had a workshop together, several one-on-one meetings, and an online correspondence throughout the project. Our communication was very effective. Pixetic's team asked us many specific questions to better understand what we needed and kept us updated on how the work was proceeding. We collaborated on most major decisions.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The balance they managed to achieve between our creative vision and theirs was outstanding. It was extremely important to us that the new logo was as close to how we envisioned it as possible.
Are there any areas for improvement?
At some stages of the project, we wouldn’t have minded involving more resources. At that time, however, the rest of Pixetic’s team was working on other projects.
