Pixelbox is amazing! Matt and his team were very easygoing, flexible and did a great job connecting with the families. They went above and beyond to help us tell our story. They had a quick turnaround, very responsive, organized and produced a high impact quality video.

The video receives a lot of positive feedback and is amazing! The team is amazing, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with them and look forward to using them more in the future.

International trade association serving the construction/industrial channel. We have a large trade show and have created have gotten more aggressive with our visual marketing over the years.

For what projects/services did your company hire Pixelbox Visual Design?

We've worked with Pixelbox the past few years to create pre-convention teaser videos, develop our General Session visuals, and create a post-meeting convention recap video.

What were your goals for this project?

Brand awareness to association members who didn't attend in addition to using the video pieces as recruiting new members to our organization.

How did you select this vendor?

Pixelbox's office was across the hallway from our suite. We were friendly neighbors for years, but then I approached them with our business idea.

Describe the project in detail.

Create convention teasers that are short clips to promote our convention. We run one a few weeks before our convention registration opens and let that run for two months before reshooting another one to provide an update. Pixelbox also works with our a/v company to create dynamic and colorful visuals for our General Session. Lastly, they film every component of our 3-day meeting to create an attractive post-convention video which we put on our website.

What was the team composition?

For our internal team? That would involve one person (me), the CEO. The team I worked with at Pixelbox was Matt Nies (owner), Alex Hartmann, and Sam Drake.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Always great feedback from our members on the teaser videos, attractive General Session visuals, and post-convention wrap-up video.

Fantastic! We've developed a great business relationship over the years.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

How they take my black and white idea and throw color all over it to bring it to life in a way I could never imagine! Their creativity has made all the difference in how my association presents itself to the world!

I’m the owner at Crawford Evaluation Group, an office-based business that serves the insurance community. 

I’ve also worked with Pixelbox through a nonprofit organization that I serve on called the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). I’m one of the directors on the board for the Waukesha County chapter.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Pixelbox Visual Design?

At Crawford Evaluation Group, we work in a high-stress business environment, working with insurance companies, deadlines, and sometimes attorneys. So, I wanted to do a morale-boost in the office. We decided to create a lip-sync video of the song Land of 1,000 Dances in the office.

They’ve also created videos for NAMI, which is an organization that supports mental illness communities across the country. Mental illness can have a negative connotation to it. So, our goal is to overcome that stereotype and create awareness for the cause. For example, the videos NAMI creates can be sent to friends, family, and co-workers. That sphere of influence works a lot better when it’s uniquely packaged in a video.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

For the video at Crawford Evaluation Group, I mapped out the song and broke it down into a storyboard format, giving different lines to different employees. I wanted everyone to have an opportunity to lip-sync in a way that would flow naturally in our office. 

I gave a rough draft of that to Pixelbox Visual Design, and they explained what would and wouldn’t work. They also explained what would happen on video production day. Within three weeks, we had a finished plan. 

The team has also done three videos for the NAMI nonprofit organization. The videos are hosted on the NAMI website. Each year we pick a different topic within mental illness to highlight such as suicide, anxiety, and depression. For example, they’ve created 3-4 minute videos about specific families who were impacted by mental illness. 

What is the team composition?

The team was different depending on the project. But, I believe Matt (Owner) had at least an assistant working with him each time.

How did you come to work with Pixelbox Visual Design?

Matt and Sam (Digital Artist, Animator, & Video Editor) are part of my church congregation. We’re in a bible study together. A lot of times, someone’s character is the first consideration for me to make the decision on working with them.

Also, about five years ago Matt offered to let me come into his office, learn about video production, and take one of his cameras with me to a trade show in Los Angeles. It was selfless of him to give up his morning to train someone. At that time, I also got to meet his employees and saw their work, which was exceptional. It’s hard to argue with great results and good people.

How much have you invested with them?

They’ve offered extremely good value from a nonprofit and business perspective.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on the first project for NAMI about three years ago at the beginning of 2017. We’ll be working with the team annually with NAMI, and it’s an ongoing relationship.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I hosted the lip-sync video online for our customers to see. It had a wonderful reaction that lasted for about two weeks, and I still hear from people about it when I see them in person. It’s full of unique, real-time, funny moments that are priceless in the long-run. I’ll enjoy that for the rest of my life.

The NAMI video has continued to provide value well beyond its initial production intent. It helps the organization provide help and treatment for the people who need it, which has ongoing, immense impact.

If someone that’s considering reaching out to NAMI is able to see a 2-3 minute video that resonates with their situation, it’s going to encourage them to come in. Other than that, the videos have helped us raise funds, which is important.

How did Pixelbox Visual Design perform from a project management standpoint?

Referring to the lip-sync video, the team made good, important decisions about the time and scale of the content. These were smart diversions from the initial plan, which required the knowledge of their crew. I put my trust in them to do the best job that they could, and it was rewarded.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I enjoy the team personally and professionally, and I plan to continue working with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything that could have made their videos better. My experience with them was really positive and uplifting.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Future customers should take the time to discuss their needs and budgets using open, transparent communication. Whether you end up working with them or not, you’ll get a healthy conversation about if the partnership will be a match for your needs. They’re good communicators, so that’s a great first step.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Waukesha County is a nonprofit organization that provides support, education and advocacy for those impacted by mental health conditions and their loved ones at no cost. I have been with NAMI Waukesha for over seven years and am currently the Director of Development and Marketing and am a member of the Leadership Team of the organization.

Our goal through the production of the video was to share information about our mission and programs to help those impacted by mental health conditions and ultimately raise funds to support our efforts. The goal of our virtual event was to raise $50,000 to support our mission.

Pixelbox Visual Design is a partner with the NAMI Waukesha mission and they have supported our efforts through production the last several years.

The talented team at Pixelbox Visual Design has been creating beautiful mission focused videos for us for the last several years. This year in response to the COVID-19 crisis, their team was able to help us quickly shift our video focus to be timely and was able to conduct interviews remotely at the height of the health crisis.

They created 2 beautiful videos for us as a result. Additionally, they helped facilitate our actual virtual event. From helping craft the vision of the event, to creating scrolling graphics, virtual backgrounds and broadcasting the event from their studio; Pixelbox thought of everything to elevate our virtual event.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

We worked closely with Matt and Alex for the filming and creation of the videos as well as the details of the virtual event. They are very responsive and incredibly easy to work with.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I have been working with Pixelbox Visual Design for the last three years at NAMI of Waukesha Co. to produce high quality videos and I cannot say enough about this phenomenally talented team.

Matt, Alex and Scott go above and beyond to take your vision into reality. Every video they have produced for us has exceeded our expectations. The end result has always been extremely high quality and able to capture the stories of the individuals who we serve to show the impact of our mission in a way that we had never been able to before.

This year, in response to the COVID-19 Crisis, Pixelbox Visual Design worked with us to pivot our event to a virtual platform. From changing the entire focus of our video including interviews completed virtually at the height of the health crisis to facilitating our actual virtual event, they ensured the event was a success.

Their creative vision moved our event to a fun and engaging event at helped us reach more than 3,500 individuals on social media. The use of their beautiful studio and equipment made our event visually engaging and seamless and truly elevated our event to the next level.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They communicated clearly and responded quickly to any messages. Matt and Alex spent a large amount of time helping brainstorm new ides and were able to move their creative vision into reality with ease. Truly our virtual event would have one-dimensional and unexciting without their time and expertise.

Pixelbox edited and produced the videos I used for my campaign. We couldn't of been more impressed with the team, efficiency & final product. We won a district that otherwise went Democrat and I am a Republican so the messaging must have been spot on.

They also did work for other 3rd parties I know and I am also using them now for some private sector work. They continuously outperform expectations.
