My company purchased software focused on CRM capabilities that entailed lead creation, lead management, reporting marketing commissions to be paid to individuals, and onboarding individuals. I was one of the original architects of the design and feature sets behind our health insurance carriers' needs.

We initially hired PieSoft to customize our entire CRM, including UX/UI design.

What was the scope of their involvement?
PieSoft has been responsible for creating our fully customized platform from end to end. PieSoft created API to interact with other systems, negotiated information, and relayed information to our clients for background checks, licensure effective and expiration dates, and required certifications. The team also built a learning management system (LMS) so agents selling the product are knowledgeable and compliant in what they're doing.
Once users complete the onboarding through the LMS, they can create leads and enrollments through our system. When the leads call in, we can attach the dialed number identification service (DNIS) to the member, and the system will direct marketing efforts to that number specifically. With this feature, the system keeps track of the efforts making the most money and users can reevaluate the spending needed for each scenario.
PieSoft has also helped us create a feature to pay the agents completing the enrollments. Key technologies on the project included Azure DevOps, Java, and AWS. PieSoft was responsible for the UI/UX design, and one of the features they developed was the ability to change the color scheme and logos on the frontend for different users. The team also offers hosting.

Our team size changed, but we worked with 11 individuals at its most busy time. Some of the team members we worked with from PieSoft included lead and senior developers and QA individuals.

PieSoft has developed our software system from scratch, using AWS for cloud hosting. Their team is continuously working on it and adding new features because every EHR is different. Every time we connect to a new EHR system, PieSoft helps us develop the integration into our system. Additionally, they provide us with ongoing support and QA.

We’ve received great feedback about our platform, and we try to keep adding new customers daily. Our biggest challenge in adding new customers is connecting to their EHR systems because they’re all HIPAA-compliant, so it takes a while to get past all the bureaucracy and requirements. Other than that, PieSoft has developed an excellent software system for us.

PieSoft has met our deadlines and stayed on budget. I meet with the project managers on a weekly basis via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. We also use Trello and Jira for project management.

Firstly, PieSoft’s knowledge in our industry is outstanding. Not many people know the healthcare industry as well as they do, so they’re very helpful and understanding. Secondly, they work very fast. I didn't know Piesoft at all but I was looking for a reliable partner with a solid background in custom web development. They introduced me to their company during a visit to Belgium. Their approach was pragmatic and customer oriented. So I asked them for a quote based on a fairly complete set of specifications.
They differentiated themselves from others by proposing a multi-phase approach, an ultra-competitive and complete price where each functionality had been estimated. Their experience in large custom development projects was palpable and the support from the start was their major asset.

For StratFlag, our main app, the PieSoft team built an application that allows users to connect their Google accounts to identify your SEO/SEA on a single platform, to generate new keywords ideas, identify the keywords that are to be associated with or excluded from an SEO/SEA strategy, track website visibility, and optimize presence in the search results.
Once keyword strategy is defined, a user can write content using the trending keywords and monitor their content strategy, with main competitors working toward the same goal in a dedicated zone.
For Flag-IT, an extension of StratFlag, in order to create this system, Piesoft has developed an interface to manage templates and give the possibility to have a unique content each time thanks to the insertion of dynamic variables. The whole system works with the help of a reverse proxy that allows to directly generate pages on the client's site.

For all billing issues, an account manager is dedicated. In case of a blocking problem, the management is really listening to allocate additional resources to solve the problem.
(I'm thinking for example of devops in case of server side performance problems)
The project follow-up was done via the Jira tool (Rapid board, tasks and subtasks). We communicate mainly via Skype or Teams.
In 3 years, the indicated deadlines have always been respected. Their estimate is particularly accurate because they take the time to analyze before responding.
If some features were delayed, it was due to my requests for substantial improvements, but each time I was warned that this would have an impact on the timing.

I’m the director of technology for a healthcare tech company that sells pharmacy software. We’re a business process outsourcing company. We manage processes for pharmacies, mail order durable medical equipment companies, and even for an insurance company. We deal with compliance, finance, IT, operations, shipping, etc.

We needed development support for a custom software product.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed and designed a proprietary pharmacy software as well as a mail order durable medical equipment software that allowed us to manage and ship out almost 200,000 patients quarterly. It’s a suite of different software. Some of it is web-based, and some of it is backend services and applications. The main part is a web application.
The full-blown pharmacy software is the only web-based pharmacy software out there. There isn’t one that encompasses as much as ours does. It gives us a huge advantage in managing patients’ health and medications and working with doctors, patients, and insurance companies. They used Windows, IIS, MySQL, PHP (WIMP) and then it was moved to Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP(LAMP). Another project is Java-based. They’ve also helped us move to AWS.
We had a series of meetings, and they asked us what we wanted to accomplish and what our goals were. They wanted to piece together something that made sense. Asking people why they are doing something is way more important than asking what they want.
The original project is done, but because we’re in a healthcare field, the legal landscape is constantly shifting. There are constant updates we need to do to stay in compliance, so they proactively do a lot of our compliance-related research for us.
What is the team composition?
There are 10–15 projects that I directly oversee, but every team has a project manager, team lead, or business analyst that we interact with. We have a point of contact for each team.

We dealt with a lot of people in the past, but they didn’t understand us, they were too expensive, or they only did what we asked them to do without offering suggestions.

We started working together in January 2014, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We had an idea, and PieSoft made it a reality. Our business benefited greatly because there wasn’t a good, viable alternative on the market. We were able to make our environment exponentially more scalable and more reliable, and we save a lot of money by keeping an in-house server up.
We were able to double the productivity of our company, without adding a single employee, just by changing the processes and investing money into software. That is amazing for our business. We implemented an automatic system for a patient to confirm their shipment or request a shipment, which helps us make more money, and it helps the patient manage their healthcare. It helps the doctors interact with the patients and providers. We definitely had exponential growth that would be at least partially attributable to that.
How did PieSoft perform from a project management standpoint?
We developed a relationship where we explain the problem and give them the business rules, and they help us come up with the solution. They got to know our business so well that they can suggest workflows and solutions that we don’t think of. We brainstorm together. Developing software is a creative process, and they’re definitely a part of that. They’re honest in suggesting better ways of doing things.
We have our own proprietary in-house system, which is an HR/IT ticketing system/account management. It’s an all-in-one software that links into GitLab.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They propose solutions for you. I don’t want people to do exactly what I tell them to do; I want them to find out why I’m doing something and develop what I need.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Whenever we’ve had an issue or constructive criticism, they address it and fix it. They’ve helped us get more organized and keep us in check. They manage projects better than we do.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
IT departments shouldn’t be viewed as just a cost center. IT is what makes the company. When someone goes to an IT vendor, they should explain the goals they’re trying to accomplish. They shouldn’t have a preconceived notion of how something should be or how exactly to do it. A business should go to PieSoft with a problem and ask for help designing the perfect solution.
