Barefoot Sound
The Challenge
Update the two existing products to be more modern, cut down manufacturing time and costs to allow for upgrading of components. Develop several new products using the new design language and broadening the product range.
The Solution
Rethink the entire assembly and manufacturing process, prototype over 10 designs per product, and create a design language anchored in its roots but more fitting for modern design.
The Results
A new design language, streamlined components for use across multiple products, and manufacturing time decrease. This was accomplished through use of new component suppliers, manufacturing floor redesign, tooling optimization, and the complete redesign of the inside of the cabinets. This allowed for the addition of several new products, all of this over a 3 year period.

OnRobot
The Challenge
Give a new look and feel to two different robotic grips, the Gecko and the Tactile grippers. This needed to be done quickly and without any adjustment to the internal engineering.
The Solution
We used company aesthetics and other inspiration to create several design options and walked their team through the concepting design process. Sketches, sketch renders, and then finally into CAD.
The Results
We created two unique designs that were eye catching, functional, manufacturable, and did not impact performance in any way. The final designs were put into CAD renders along with the sketch renders we had done through the process.

Kuvia Kayaksailor
The Challenge
The founders, David and Patricia Drabkin, came to us to turn their early hand-built versions into something that could be produced by a manufacturer to a higher quality level than they had been able to attain.
The Solution
We took the general concept, left the parts that worked great as is, and focused our energy on the components that could be improved on or needed to adjust for manufacturing by an outside vendor.
The Results
Through the conversion to production level design, improvements were made to the the product in weight and ease of use. This all resulted in a product that improved on their early versions and they still use today.

BugLab
The Challenge
BugLab came to Peterman Design Firm to design a new enclosure for a new electronics/sensor package. Our challenge was to create a new design that was easy to take a part and maintain while remaining splash proof and usable in the lab. Existing enclosured relied on RTV and other types of adhesive to remain sealed and functional, which made repairs and changing components difficult.
The Solution
We created a product that use gasketing and eliminated the need for any adhesives. We also created a form that protected the product from the most common liquid intrusion issues, sitting in puddles and having liquid poured on them.
The Results
Our design met all requirements and had the additional benefit of being a modular design allowing for part sharing between this product and future products in development.

Saber Forge
The Challenge
Saber Forge needed to re-engineer their product line to be more modular for manufacturing. Their product line needed expanding, including a curved saber they were having issues with. Also involved was a logo update and product photo shoot for several products we helped launch.
The Solution
The solution was modular system incorporating their newly developed in-house electronics. We also ensured shared hardware and easier to manufacture parts. We also created a geometric logo.
The Results
The results were a decrease in per-product cost in both parts and labor. The modular system is the basis of their entire current product line. They also received an updated logo, with all the files.

Beaux Brush
The Challenge
Anthony Oliver came to us with the question. How can you wash a vehicle more efficiently with both commercial and consumer use in mind?
The Solution
A powered, hand held device that could soap, scrub, and rinse a vehicle without changing tools.
The Results
A duel powered rotating scrubbers, a swiveling head, soap injection system and tank, adjustable length shaft, and all powered with a rechargeable battery system in the handle with optional corded version for longer sustained use. We also created the brand, website, and marketing collateral which allowed Beaux Brush to make a public early release to get more funding and interest with continued refinement on the product.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the CEO of an independent CBD manufacturing and retail company. The product has a priority essential oil blend that is designed to help comfort painful areas in the body.
For what projects/services did your company hire Peterman Design Firm?
I needed help to determine the cost of goods sold (COGS), along with the pricing of products and sizes.
What were your goals for this project?
My goals are to have my products out to the public via e-commerce and outside sales by early June 2019. By the end of 2019, I plan on my products being on Amazon as well as drop shipping to locations.
How did you select this vendor?
I knew Ian (CEO, Peterman Design Firm) from a previous project. I trust his judgment and insight.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
Peterman Design Firm is in charge of pricing and gathering information to keep my costs low and profits high. They also deal with labeling and securing the proper lawyers to oversee the labels before going to print. They created our wholesale contract along with spreadsheets and accompanying backup. They came up with names for the product line and individual products. They do many other things that I don’t have time to accomplish due to my full-time day job.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I’ve been working on this formula for over five years. Peterman Design Firm has the ability and knowledge to keep ahead of what’s needed. They also keep me on point with my input. I now have potential wholesalers within the area that are wanting to sell my products to their clients.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
There’s a good workflow between our teams. Deadlines are met and communication is open and shared.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I trust their creativity and design abilities. Peterman Design Firm has integrity in their work. The quality is at the level that I desire for this project and the large scale sales that I anticipate.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No, there’s nothing that I can think of at the moment.
Communicating clearly from the start, Peterman Design Firm’s expert team inspires confidence throughout the project. Creativity and design ability are hallmarks of their work. The team’s quality deliverables set them up for an ongoing engagement.
