BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the owner of HVAC Utah. Our company provides residential and light commercial heating, air conditioning, and ventilation services.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Performance Driven Marketing?

We were a startup business, entering a very competitive industry. Our website wasn't coming up in Google searches, so our primary goal was to become organically found in Google and Yelp. We were looking for a company to do digital marketing for us. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, they built a user friendly website for us, geared towards the residential market, and provided SEO services for it. We were rebranding ourselves, so our website had to reflect that. They added a feature that lets consumers apply for financing (we finance a lot of our work), different logos and images, and a section on various markets within our industry (for example, fireplace repair and service). After that, we tracked Google Analytics each month to see how things were improving. We track the calls that are coming from our website, so we have an idea of how many people find us online. 

They also post on our social media once a week and regularly update our blog and our website. We have monthly meetings where we discuss the topics for social media posts that I think our customers might be interested in, analytics, and the keywords that we need to target. 

They got us involved with a review program, making it easy for our customers to review us and share feedback about our services. They go beyond the scope of their work, helping us with networking and other aspects of our business. For example, they created print media, such as backdrop banners and handouts, for our home shows. 

What is the team composition? 

I work directly with Dave [Wade, co-owner, Performance Driven Marketing] and he delegates various tasks to other members of his team.

How did you come to work with them?

I met them a long time ago at another business venture and liked their work (they helped us increase our revenue and grow our business dramatically when we were working on that project). So I already trusted them and knew they could do what I needed.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend about $13,000 a year with them.

What is the status of this engagement? 

We started working with them in March 2013 and the relationship is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We used to have zero reviews on Google, and they took us to 97 reviews in one year. We were not found in Google search before, but now 90% of the calls we get come from our website (10% of our calls come from repeat callers). When our customers call us, we always ask them how they found us.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint? 

They're extremely responsive. We have meetings once a week and they update me on the progress we've made. Also, they give me a realistic timeframe, even if it's not as quick as I want it to be. They deliver what they promise, so we haven't had any issues with them not keeping a commitment. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They don't give us false hopes. They told us from the beginning that it was going to take some time and it did take a couple of years before we started seeing the results. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don't think so. I get offers every day, but I don't ever consider leaving them.
