Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a nurse at a private medical practice. Our doctors specialize in internal medicine and cardiology.

What challenge were you trying to address with PanonIT?

Our clinic needed help with software development. We wanted to have a modern medical system for keeping patient information including personal data, electronic health records, diagnosis, appointment schedules, and other documentation. We hired PanonIT for the task.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, after contacting PanonIT, we found out that they had a healthcare software. They were able to implement it within our practice and customized it according to our needs. We wanted it to be very user-friendly so that our doctors and nurses could be trained quickly on its use. We also wanted to be able to print directly from our web application, which we didn’t think would be possible, but PanonIT was built that function for us.

PanonIT implemented some features that included specific documentation records for doctors of different specialties. They were also able to implement a feature to save records locally while the data was gathered over longer periods.

Following the software implementation, we’ve been working with one remote developer from their team who provides maintenance.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three developers and one was the team lead.

How did you come to work with PanonIT?

A few of our doctors knew about PanonIT because they had seen one of their products. After we did some more research, we saw that PanonIT had past experience in creating healthcare software and chose them for the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2018 and the collaboration is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are very satisfied with their cooperation and the quality of their results. It’s easy to work with them and overall, we are very happy.

How did PanonIT perform from a project management standpoint?

They met all the set deadlines, and we communicated by email and phone. From time to time, we had some meetings with them just so they could keep us up to date on the progress of the project and help us understand some of the technical stuff.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our overall impression is that they have very strong knowledge when it comes to working with medical technologies. The developers we worked with were highly skilled and talented. They provided us with their own suggestions when it came to the customization of the software and addressing our needs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. We’re satisfied with the collaboration.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the director of development for an IT company that develops software solutions for the government sector. We have been operating for over 25 years and employee around 40 people.

For what projects/services did your company hire PanonIT?

PanonIT supplements our in-house software development staff.

What were your goals for this project?

The primary goal has been to migrate our existing technology stack from an older web-based framework (Struts v1) to a more modern Angular architecture. 

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

An employee with contacts in Serbia recommended PanonIT to us. Of the four Serbian offshore development companies we reviewed, PanonIT stood out for a number of reasons. They were competitively priced and had in-house knowledge of both the technology stack we currently use and the frameworks we wanted to move to. They were the type of people we were looking for; when we spoke directly to the company’s principals, they demonstrated genuine interest in our goals.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

PanonIT was recruited specifically to complete the migration and upgrade of one of our core product’s underlying technology stack. Because it affects all aspects of our product, this project is extremely challenging and still ongoing. Their work involves rewriting much of the existing functionality and integrating it into our existing services, such as page navigation and security.

In addition, they assist with smaller software development projects—such as fixing bugs and implementing minor change requests—that we would be unable to complete due to staffing shortages, time limitations, other contractual obligations with higher priority, or inherently complex technical requirements.

What was the team composition?

Since the initial contract, one developer has been added to the team of two original developers, who remain on the project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Work is ongoing and not yet released. However, the ability to task this type of development to PanonIT has been invaluable, enabling us to keep our in-house staff focused on contractual deliverables.  

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The PanonIT developers are managed, directed, and supervised by an in-house architect. Communication tools include Jira, conference calls, and Slack. There has been little to no language barrier, despite PanonIT’s Serbian location; they speak English very well and are incredibly responsive to issues. The absence of staff turnover and unnecessary administrative overhead has been critical to the complexity of our domain. 

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have very skilled developers, with access to an even larger talent pool. 

Are there any areas where they can improve?

Although they can navigate the time zone difference more effectively, we have been extremely happy with PanonIT’s overall performance.
