Founded in 2017, Ozzmata is an independent branding and graphic design studio located in Denver, Colorado.

At Ozzmata we build comprehensive, insightful, and strategy-driven identities and designs equipped to elevate and empower organizations large and small. Co-founder Nick Heckman drives all aspects of the company’s creative strategy, from developing and detailing Ozzmata's approach for high-level service offerings to establishing and realizing the company’s culture of positivity and imagination. Co-founder Kevin Gollehon is responsible for designing and implementing diverse business strategies, plans, and procedures. I am the publisher and editor of Mile High Sports Magazine. We produce a monthly sports magazine in Colorado.

We engaged Ozzmata to design our publication and lead our art direction.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create a local publication with design elements equal to the national level.

How did you select this vendor?

Both partners in Ozzmata have worked for Mile High Sports—both as employees and contractors—before Ozzmata formed.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

Ozzmata handles the entire design and art direction of the magazine. They work with me at the beginning of every new publishing year and on every new magazine. It's a collaborative process, but they truly drive the process.

What was the team composition?

I work with both Nick (Partner, Creative Director, Ozzmata) and Kevin (Partner, Business Operations, Ozzmata). Each person handles various aspects of the business and artistic parts.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The magazine is widely considered one of the best publications in the region. In my opinion, that has more to do with Ozzmata’s design than our content.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Ozzmata gets work done on a wide range of deadlines and conditions. We trust their team completely; they have never let us down.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It's rare to find a creative entity that's proficient with business interests. Nothing could be further than the truth with Nick and Kevin.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, I can’t think of anything. Ozzmata generally discovers and fixes problems before they ever reach my desk.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the co-president of CAP Logistics, a third-party logistics company that provides customized freight transportation solutions to downtime-sensitive industries. I’m primarily responsible for compliance and vendor relationships.

For what projects/services did your company hire Ozzmata?

We hired Ozzmata to revise our branding and messaging and then incorporate the revised branding into various marketing materials including sales literature, presentation templates, promotional items, business cards, and a letterhead.

What were your goals for this project?

Our main goal was to evolve our current brand into something cleaner and more professional. It was also important to reduce the number of versions of sales literature we had and make them more visually appealing.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

A mutual acquaintance referred us to Ozzmata. After meeting with their team, reviewing some of their work for other clients, and discussing our objectives with them, it was clear they were a good fit for the project.

Ozzmata created extensive brand guidelines for three of our companies. They developed new icons, wordmarks, service icons, business cards, sales literature pieces, PowerPoint templates, and letterheads.

What was the team composition?

We worked very closely with their lead designer and project manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After having the same logo and branding for over two decades, the true test for our rebranding was feedback from our employees. We rolled everything out on the same day and received nothing but positive feedback. I expected to see at least some pushback, but there was nothing of the sort.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between our teams was great. They never over-promised and were always on target for project milestones. The suggestions and alternatives they presented were very helpful, and they did a great job of following up if they needed feedback or information from us. They really drove the project forward.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was most impressed by how detailed they were. They thought through everything, even things that would seem minor to the average person. Everything was designed a certain way for a reason, and the individual components came together into a cohesive whole.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I can't think of any areas in which they could improve. We’ll definitely continue to use them for our branding and marketing projects.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We’ve received large financial commitments from private equity investors, due in part to how well we developed the brand. Our investors believe in us and are excited to see what else we can accomplish.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was quite effective. We had regular calls and meetings. Ozzmata met all of our deadlines and was often early.

I was impressed with their creativity. Ozzmata combined out-of-the-box thinking and professionalism into a great customer experience.
