Crypto Case Study- AXIA Coin
Project Overview
AXIA Coin is positioning itself to be the new reserve currency for the world. AXIA is the first hyper-deflationary and asset-supported digital currency of its kind that can be used globally with ease. The USD and other fiat currencies are inflationary, meaning that consumers lose their purchasing power over time. AXIA, on the other hand, has a supply that goes down over time through fee burning, making it hyper-deflationary by nature. The currency becomes more and more scarce over time, which means that participants increase their buying power over time, rather than lose it.

Project Overview
The Pool Punisher is the original and first ever giant inflatable tank pool toy with a built-in water cannon. The team came to us at the start of July with a time-sensitive request to run a fun and splashy (no pun intended!) short-term summer PR campaign to make the most of the hot weather. As well as hoping to maximize their potential for summer sales, they wanted to increase their online exposure and get in front of the right audiences.
The Problem
The Pool Punisher wanted to get into more niche markets that hadn’t been exposed to The Pool Punisher just yet. They were starting their summer sales push later than planned and wanted strong press coverage to boost their brand visibility and exposure during their peak sales potential months.
The Strategy
We devised a strategy that focused on sending samples to publications and blogs to secure summer pool toy product spotlights, reviews, and roundup pieces. Our focus was on reaching parenting publications and mom blogs that showcased and reviewed new toys.
We also explored other story verticals that best represented the Pool Punisher, pitching the product to military publications and new product outlets.
George Kramb and his five-year-old son came up with the idea together and shared a special bond behind the creation of the pool toy. We knew this was a great summer story to lean into and created a parallel pitching schedule that focused solely on this story, pitching it to mainstream news outlets in their local market of San Diego.

OtterPR seemed to immediately catch onto the tone of voice we wanted to portray. Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of the Global Digital Asset & Cryptocurrency Association, an emerging self-regulatory association. We represent about 80 small, medium, and large digital asset firms and focus on three core areas — standards and guidance, education and certification, and globally sensitive advocacy.
What challenge were you trying to address with Otter Public Relations?
The challenge was raising the visibility of our organization. We were founded in 2020, and although we had done excellent work, we had a lot of trouble gaining momentum and visibility. We felt that our work was going unnoticed.
As soon as I assumed the role of CEO, we looked for a PR firm that could meet our needs. We wanted a partner willing to work with us who understood the digital asset and cryptocurrency space very well. Moreover, we needed someone with deep experience in traditional journalism so that we could bridge both outlets, digital native ones and traditional ones of the financial sector.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Otter PR provides us with PR services. Initially, we interviewed them twice and spoke to some of their business development people. Then, we talked one-on-one with the points of contact they assigned and discussed our challenges, gaps, and expected outcomes. One of our requirements was getting Tier 1 media attention for people to recognize our name and for us to be more visible on search engines and become a well-known association and thought leader in our sector.
After providing our requirements, Otter PR looked at potentially providing media training for me. However, given that I do a lot of forward-facing presentational work, we decided it wouldn’t be necessary. Instead, we worked on putting together thought leadership pieces and started our PR efforts at the bottom tier of media outlets.
Now, Otter PR consistently brings me new media opportunities. As people come directly to me, they work heavily to take that burden off of me by vetting and identifying suitable opportunities themselves. They also double-check things.
We work with them on a monthly basis because, given the state of the cryptocurrency industry, we need maximum support. As part of this support, their team helps us draft the first frontrunners of articles. Moreover, before any big interviews, Otter PR provides me with assistants that help me warm up.
Throughout the project, I’ve provided them with background research and other pieces that I’ve done myself. Initially, I also provided them with recordings of webinars we had undertaken so that they knew my tone and focus. My input has helped them draft content pieces that seem as though I had written them.

I work with two people from Otter PR: David (Publicist) and Mark (Account Strategist).
How did you come to work with Otter Public Relations?
They were recommended by one of our members. We ultimately decided to work with them because they were scrappy and hardworking like us, and they had a startup-friendly mentality. They worked hard for their clients, and I worked hard for mine, so I appreciated our alignment of work ethic.
How much have you invested with them?
We pay them a monthly $5,000 flat fee, so we spend $60,000 per year.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Throughout our engagement with Otter PR, we’ve seen our trajectory going from the bottom-tier media outlets up. From the start, they told me to be very responsive and engaged, and I listened to their instructions. Because of that, I’ve been able to grow really fast as a representative of the industry, and the name of our organization has been able to grow equally fast.
Thanks to them, I was named the top women CEO in the cryptocurrency industry by CyptoCompare and Coinbase. Moreover, I was listed on Wirex’s Rising Women in Crypto Power List.
Before working with Otter PR, we had only appeared in 2–3 articles. Since then, we’ve had 912 pieces of coverage and hit major media outlets, including Forbes, Politico, Bloomberg, TechCrunch, TheStreet, Cointelegraph, The Block, and Blockworks. I was also featured on prime time for Fox Business News. Overall, we’ve been very successful.

We’ve recently had a lot of work, so I’ve been in constant contact with them daily. They use CoverageBook to manage our project, where I can see reports and real-time results of our media coverage.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Otter PR knows the cryptocurrency industry very well, including the suitability of outlets and the technology. Additionally, they care about my business as much as I do, and they go the extra mile to ensure that we get the coverage we need.

I am an executive at MOD Marketing Agency. We work with small to mid-size businesses by providing brand identity management, website development, graphic design, and business growth consulting.

Our agency has recently relaunched and we wanted to "come out with a bang". Otter PR helped us gain leverage on the national scale by publishing an article about us on NY Weekly's website. Our goal was to gain credibility and show our expertise through recognition on a reputable platform.

We were approached by multiple vendors but ultimately went with Otter because they made the process simple and effortless on our end. We do not currently have the resources to manage our public relations efforts in-house, and partnering with Otter was a really feasible solution.

Otter PR reached out to our executive team during a time when we were initiating our relaunch and looking to develop new sales prospects. They offered to write and publish an article for us to help jump-start the process of inbound marketing. They asked for basic information about our company, including what we would like the article to focus on and highlight about us, and sent us a draft for review within a few business days.

I worked with a designated account manager who was my point of contact throughout the entire campaign.

We have been published on a nationally-recognized digital publishing platform and have used the link to the article to share with our followers, expand our network, and ultimately build our credibility in an increasingly competitive market.

We corresponded via email and our account manager did a great job of laying out the process step-by-step and included all of the information they would need on our end before we even started. They have been transparent and helpful since the initial outreach.

I found it impressive that they reached out to my team at a time when we were in need of their services the most. Not only did they meet our budget restrictions, but they also made the entire process incredibly easy on our staff. The turnaround time was faster than expected, too!

It has honestly been a very enjoyable experience and I think Otter PR has proven its ability to make PR accessible and - dare I say - convenient!

Otter PR offers you a variety of subscription services, including The Essential, The Expert, The Executive, or a Custom Package (the “Packages”). Depending on the specific Package you select, Otter PR will provide you certain public relations and marketing services, on a monthly basis, which may include advertising, consultations, marketing, public relations writing and communications for public distribution, social media development and evaluations, website development and evaluations, and tutoring (our “Services”).
As part of entering this Agreement, you must select a Package that specifically details our Services to you and the Fee for our Services to You (“Your Package”), and the terms of Your Package are integrated as part of this Agreement. If any term or provision contained in Your Package conflicts with, or is inconsistent with, any term or provision in this Service Agreement, the provisions contained in this Service Agreement shall govern and control. You may modify Your Package at any time by notifying us in writing at Hello@OtterPR.com or by making the modification at our website by visiting your account at otterpr.com/my-account. For example, if you start this Agreement under the Essential Package and realize you would like to increase the Services we are providing you, you may upgrade your package to the Executive Plan.
As another example, if you find the Executive Package is slightly more than what you need, you are fully permitted to downgrade your Package to The Expert. Any modification to Your Package (including any modified services we provide you and any modified Fee you pay us) will take effect at the start of the month immediately following your requested modification.
If you modify your Package, all such modifications to your Package will be governed by this Agreement and will continue indefinitely until canceled or terminated in accordance with this Agreement. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding Package modification. 30/60/90 Day Plan – Once we start our Services to You, we may (but are not required to) provide you with a “30/60/90 Day” Plan. The 30/60/90 Day Plan we create for You is our initial proposed course of action for the initial ninety (90) days of our Services, which serves to outline our proposed initial Services and proposed completion dates for those initial Services.
