Sentidant AG engaged Otrofy to develop both the mobile app UX/UI and the backend infrastructure for Sentidant ONE, our Swiss-engineered emotionally intelligent smartwatch.

The scope included:

UX/UI (Anna): Designing a premium, intuitive and emotionally engaging mobile app experience, reflecting our brand’s vision and ensuring seamless user flows.

Backend (Serge): Architecting and implementing secure, scalable backend services that integrate real-time biometric data from our smartwatch, manage user accounts, store encrypted emotional state data and connect with cloud services for analytics and backup.

The work required close collaboration with our hardware/firmware engineers and brand team to ensure all technical and user-facing components worked flawlessly together.

What was the scope of Otrofy's involvement, they handled the end-to-end design and backend development for our app:

Design: Created detailed UI screens, design systems and interaction flows. Conducted iterative design reviews to refine aesthetics and usability.

Backend Development: Built APIs, managed database architecture, implemented Bluetooth/BLE integration handling multi-sensor data streams (heart rate, GSR, EDA, movement),and ensured GDPR-compliant encryption and privacy-by-design principles.

They will also coordinate sprints, provide technical documentation and supported our internal QA process.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We now have a fully designed app interface that excites both potential investors and our test users.

The backend integration has enabled seamless data transfer from smartwatch to app to cloud, supporting our real-time emotion recognition and feedback features.

Internal and external stakeholders consistently praise the product’s polish and performance, which has directly contributed to building credibility with partners, media and potential Kickstarter backers.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Otrofy’s project management has been excellent. They set clear timelines, organized deliverables into well-defined sprints and consistently met or beat agreed deadlines, even when our requirements evolved mid-project. Communication was transparent and proactive, with regular progress updates and quick responses to questions or feedback, often within hours.

They showed flexibility when priorities shifted, adapting schedules and resources without compromising quality. Importantly, they maintained close coordination between the design (Anna) and backend (Serge) workstreams, ensuring a smooth flow from concept to implementation.

Overall, their responsiveness and reliability gave us complete confidence that critical milestones would be met in time for our November 2025 launch.

Given our project complexity, occasional alignment meetings between Otrofy and our other engineers could have been even more frequent but this is a minor note and they always responded quickly to bridge any gaps.
