Leveraging SmartOne’s expertise in AI and data solutions, the project began with a discovery phase. Osedea conducted extensive stakeholder interviews to refine our roadmap and ensure alignment with business goals. 
A proof-of-concept phase followed this, automating end-to-end workflows for a single client project, including cloud data ingestion, serverless ETL, AI-driven data transformation, and business intelligence dashboards. The final implementation phase delivered an MVP platform, incorporating advanced cloud architecture, intuitive user interfaces, secure access portals, and internal tools to streamline operations and position SmartOne.ai for scalable growth and customer impact.

The measurable outcomes of the project focused on demonstrating progress and success through qualitative and quantitative metrics. At SmartOne.ai, we prioritize velocity, emphasizing the delivery of small, functional "aha" moments, features, and demos to internal and external stakeholders. This approach allowed for continuous feedback and iterative improvements in an agile manner, ensuring alignment with user needs. 
Quantitative metrics included significant improvements in performance KPIs, such as faster data processing times and reduced manual intervention, which were easily achieved given the automation of previously manual processes. These outcomes underscored the platform's ability to efficiently deliver value while maintaining rapid development and iteration.

The project management approach was great, with all deliverables completed on time and often ahead of schedule. Osedea worked in a highly agile manner, leveraging tools like Miro and Figma for ideation alongside SmartOne’s internal project management stack, including Confluence and Jira. This integration ensured alignment with SmartOne's existing workflows, infrastructure, and stakeholders without introducing unnecessary complexity. 
By functioning as an agile extension of SmartOne’s team, Osedea improved velocity while maintaining consistency with established processes. Daily standups and weekly project syncs fostered continuous alignment and bidirectional feedback, ensuring the project stayed on track and responsive to evolving needs.

What stood out most about Osedea was its customer-centric approach, focusing on design, user experience, user stories, and practicality before diving into technical implementation. They prioritized simplicity and scalability, building architectures that were not overly complex but perfectly suited for SmartOne's current growth phase and maturity. 
Their philosophy of delivering functional, working systems—"a fully functional room rather than a half-built house," as their CTO puts it—resonated deeply with our mindset. This focus on creating practical MVPs and handing off easily manageable solutions was perfectly aligned with our needs and made them exceptional partners.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Osedea could have done differently?

The only area for improvement would be having more subject matter experts in our specific domain on their team. However, this is more of a shared responsibility, as we provided the domain expertise during the project. That said, Osedea mitigated this effectively by maintaining continuity in their team assignments across project phases. 
This approach ensured knowledge transfer and minimized the need to repeatedly onboard their team on our domain, making the collaboration smooth and efficient over time.

The platform is online, we're already working on upgrades, we're able to manage the content of our platform, and the response from our target users has been very positive.

given that we were taking our first steps in Azure, we would have liked more coaching on the various concepts. The start of the development project was a little slower, given that we had no previous experience with Azure.

First, the scope was to create a UX/UI that would be very intuitive for Dental Professionals to use on a daily basis. The software we aimed to develop clashed immensely with what Dental Prodessionnals have been using in the past. We aimed at presenting the right information, at the right place, at the right time, rather than having information all at once. this created a very seamless environment in wich they could work.

Our second objective was to present the information in a very digestable way for the patient. The software was to become a communication tool between the Dental Professionnals and the patients. Information was to be limited to what was beneficial for patient comprehention and is presented in a very visual and followable way.

"The came AI. We decided to explore many options in regards to Computer Image and ML. Since our software and hardware can be can controlled with voice commands (in a noisy environment), we also work for their team to optimized our system's NLP capabilities."

We needed assistance with UX design for our website development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, I provided Osedea with a full scope of work, including an overview of our current objectives and what we were looking to accomplish during the UX review phase. We also discussed some of the project considerations and the challenges we were facing to enhance the site's mobile experience. I also provided our company's target demographic.

Osedea conducted a competitive analysis and designed wireframes based on their findings. The team also analyzed our website and made recommendations on how to improve its UX. Osedea did user research and provided wireframe designs in Figma. The team was also responsible for project planning and conducting multiple workshops to ensure we were on the same page.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Osedea delivered the results I was looking for and delivered a thorough experience report. Osedea's competitive analysis and presentation were extremely thorough. We're still implementing Osedea's wireframe design, but their presentation, analysis, and UX design were amazing.

I was expecting the project to last three weeks, and Osedea delivered work exactly when they said they would, respecting the project's timelines. The team also delivered work on budget.

We were impressed by their ability to understand our relatively technical and customer-specific product. Osedea worked with eeva to design a high-fidelity clickable prototype of their application. The objective was to create a personal life management solution comparable to the best CRMs and ERPs, while respecting eeva's key functionalities and branding. The user interface was designed with simplicity, intuitiveness and visual consistency in mind. The prototype allowed potential users to navigate and interact with the application, providing a clear vision of its look and feel.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There were regular strategic workshops, followed by the delivery of low-fidelity wireframes, and finally high-fidelity wireframes, which made up the prototype.

The team was consistently on time, and they were always careful to point out wild cards that may delay their work (even if it didn't). They responded to every (annoying) question we had, and truly incorporated us into their project team.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We compared a few vendors and we decided to go with Osedea as they seemed to be the right fit with their expertise (UI/UX, frontend) and understood well our needs.

A bit more documentation and test plans for our team to facilitate transition to our tech team.

I’m the head of IT of a small alternative lender. We lend money to small businesses in Canada.

What challenge were you trying to address with Osedea?

We primarily needed help to develop new products and features within existing products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially approached Osedea with a business case for a new product; they helped us build a proof of concept. They walked us through the process, and we had a lot of strategy and brainstorming sessions.

Since then, we’ve partnered with Osedea for various initiatives. The most recent project was a new financing product for new and existing customers. They did some of the design and built it on the existing architecture because we didn’t want a product that couldn’t integrate into our ecosystem. Merchants can interact with it through the features on the merchant portal.

Osedea uses the technologies we tell them, so they work on JavaScript, Angular on the frontend, Spring Boot on the backend, and Kubernetes to manage the clusters. Additionally, they currently provide maintenance, fix bugs, and make enhancements to the features.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with about 10 teammates, including a project manager, a business analyst, an architect, a Scrum master, and several developers.

How did you come to work with Osedea?

Somebody within our network referred them. We were looking for potential service providers within our network, and Osedea’s name came up.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend around $30,000–$40,000 a month, so we’ve spent over $500,000 in a year and a half.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in June 2021, and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We primarily measure the time it takes to deliver the scope of work based on the initial evaluation. Within each sprint, we also measure the number of story points that the developers complete.

How did Osedea perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is excellent. They meet deadlines on time and deliver under budget. They use our existing tools, Atlassian, Confluence, and Jira, to document the requirements, capture the stories, plan the sprints, and measure against them. Overall, we work closely together.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We like them for many reasons, but they stand out for delivering quality work and being a fun team and great communicators.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t think so. Osedea has done everything we needed, and they’ve done it exceptionally well. We’re happy with them, which is why we still work with them.

I’d recommend other companies to seriously consider using Osedea.

I’m the CEO of a HealthTech company that offers a SaaS product to over 100 healthcare establishments.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Osedea?

Our company didn’t have technical expertise internally at the time, and we wanted to keep our project running and make our first sales. We needed a bridge before hiring an internal software development team. The goal was to build the MVP that would be our first sellable product to get our first customers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Osedea developed a web application for us from scratch using Java, Angular, and AWS. First, we provided them with a brief; I had already been working on the idea for a while, so our vision was pretty clear.

The app helps healthcare practitioners get clinical information on their patients before they see them so the consultation can be more efficient and complete. Osedea built the app's infrastructure. They also developed a custom CMS to ensure clinicians could enter the database and see the patient's chief complaints. 

Osedea also built a UI for the patient and one for the practitioners. The app also includes a dashboard where the practitioners can see consultations pre-analyzed with any red flag symptoms. The app also has functionality that sends smart forms to patients via SMS or with the help of an assistant. Osedea also offered maintenance and hosting.

What is the team composition?

About six teammates from Osedea contributed to our project at different points. We had a project owner, a junior backend engineer, a frontend engineer, and, occasionally, an AWS expert. Additionally, we worked with Martin (President). 

How did you come to work with Osedea?

I found them through a referral from a friend. Since we were looking for a software team, I met with Martin and pitched him my ideas. He understood my mission and vision quickly and better than most. I picked Osedea because they seemed to care about our success, and it seemed like the relationship would work. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $120,000 CAD (approximately $90,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from November 2019–June 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We successfully released the application, which was the main factor. Some software development teams will let the project linger and take a long time to get clients to pay more. Meanwhile, Osedea delivered on the milestones and the release dates we had in mind. As a result, we got our first clients, which was what we were going for. Overall, our engagement with Osedea went smoothly. 

How did Osedea perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered on time, responded to our needs, and stayed on budget. The team was always very quick to respond to emergencies, which we appreciated. If we had something important to deliver in a short time, they made themselves available to work extra hours so that we could be on time.

We mostly communicated via Slack and had Zoom meetings once a day. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Osedea provided us with valuable advice. Martin was really smart and there to help and give us suggestions to move forward. Since they understood our vision and scope, they could provide business advice. Overall, the team was hands-on and cared about our project. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have suggestions for improvement. For the amount of experience I had, I was overall very satisfied. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Like working with any software subcontractor, make sure you have a budget plan and that you share it. Ensure that your expectations are in line with what’s possible to achieve. To do this, you should keep your communication very clear to ensure they know your concerns, budget, and any changes you might have.
