We worked with OPKO Finance to assist us in our accounting, audits management and various administrative services in our countries of operations (Hong Kong, Philippines and Vietnam).

We started this project to be more effective in terms of time spent for those topics and to ensure being on time on the different regulatory tasks. Additionally, we needed some general advice (especially regarding tax purposes) as we operate in different jurisdictions.

We reached out to a few providers and decided to hire the firm for the following reasons: (i) capabilities to offer the services in the 3 countries where we operate (ii) very strong reactivity to respond to our request (iii) competitive pricing versus some other providers

For of all we did a general planning and onboarding on the various workstream to be managed by OPKO Finance on a regular basis in our three countries of operations. The company agreed to stick with our existing software and organizational tools.

Today the company handles all our bookkeeping, accounting review, tax declaration and relationship with tax authorities, payroll, company secretary services, audit preparation and management of our three entities in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Vietnam.

We are charged per scope of work and country on a quarterly basis for the accounting services for the regular operations and on a yearly basis for the yearly operations.

Around 5 people: accounting and admin manager per country, and everything is overseen by the General Manager of the firm.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the engagement or general feedback about the services?

I a few weeks, OPKO Finance managed to properly takeover the workload from us. So far everything has been done in order and on time. The firm has also helped us to correct and optimize a few elements.

The onboarding process was quite efficient and we have communication mostly through emails when it is needed or they have questions. The General Manager is always reactive and takes call easily when required.

They are very responsive and very helpful to advise on some aspects even beyond their mandate. They provide us the comfort to not worry about the accounting and admin-related requirements.

We could have delegated to them a few more things faster.

Many companies can do well with accounting and company secretary it's not such a big deal. But with Opko we got more. We have monthly advises about current legislation in the countries we are working with, we also talk IT and software (QuickBooks, Odoo) After 6 years of relationship we can say it works very well.

They handle all accounting operations, including preparing all payments, handling budgeting, and compare projected and actual value. They also provide assistance with legal issues such as writing contracts. We use a cloud ERP.

One person handles roughly 90% of the requests, and another handles technical issues with banks. We also are in contact with Marc-Olivier (Director) twice a month.

Our lawyer introduced us to Marc-Olivier. We didn’t begin working together immediately, but we did talk and later decided to hire his company.

We’ve spent roughly $50,000. Initially, we paid $1,000 per month, but now that they are handling more, the fee is $2,900 per month.

We hired them in January 2016, and the partnership is ongoing.

OPKO Finance has helped us make the right financial decisions. We now know our cost margins and the effect of each expense when trading. We also automatically sell anything we buy. I have more time to develop marketing and sales now as well.

I am a partner with CFO-mission in a Furniture design and trading company. We have 25 FTEs located in offices in China, HK and Europe. 90% of our production is from China and we sell to major retailers and importers all over the world.

We were able to reduce the delays to produce accounting end of year by 3 months. We reduced our outstanding customer accruals by 20%.

The team is always well scheduling intervention so we can organize to be on time on deadlines. When clarification is needed partner intervenes

What was the scope of their involvement?

They worked on several projects for me in varying scopes, as small as simple secretarial tasks to the large data analytics when I sold my business. For the latter project, they ran inventory on some of my subsidiaries in different locations.

 They organized the physical inventory; sorted through data analytics, argued the small claims made by the buyer in an attempt to reduce the price, and provided arguments in every point highlighted by the buyer. They also facilitated for communication purposes, reporting to me and being involved with the shareholder to answer questions.

They did a remarkable job, reducing all the deductions requested down to four. They closed all the accounts with no more claims or liability. Their work saved me a significant amount of money. I don’t think I could’ve done it without Opko. My shareholders were also impressed with them.

They were extremely disciplined and systematic. They gave clear summaries and reports, without too much detail. We spoke daily. Mark-Olivier was willing to fly to location when necessary.

They were a small company that over-delivered for me. They were affordable and performed tremendously well.

It was fragile due to my being dependent on such a small team. It was worth the risk. For simple administrative tasks, their price is a bit on the high side.
