I’m the assistant VP of acquisition marketing at a national drug and alcohol rehab services provider.
What challenge were you trying to address with Operad?
We were trying to augment our internal team with an agency specializing in topic clusters from an SEO perspective, so we hired Operad.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Operad’s scope in our project is pretty narrow. Firstly, they’re providing us with a strategy and a detailed roadmap on how to approach topic clusters in our particular site. Secondly, they’re in charge of helping us execute that work, collaborating closely with our team and integrating themselves into our internal processes. Currently, they’re creating SEO content briefs for our team to write the content.
Alcohol addiction is our biggest business driver, so we initially wanted Operad to focus on the alcohol rehab section of our site. For this part of the project, they defined a detailed roadmap of what would ideally be in that section. Then, they presented a detailed mind map of what that section would look like. From there, they worked with our medical editors to review the topics presented in that section and either approve them or not.
After that, Operad wrote the content briefs and outlined the pages that needed to be created on the site. Their input then went into our editorial and writing processes. Recently, we wrapped up that part of the project.

We’ve been working with three people from Operad.
How did you come to work with Operad?
We were originally referred to them. In their initial pitches, they showed a very strong understanding of topic clusters that really mimicked our internal strategy, so we decided to hire them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $60,000, but we’re looking to extend the agreement until the end of the year, so we will be spending around $120,000 in total.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Operad is working as part of our team in order for us to find success. The work that they’ve delivered is very detailed and in-depth, and they’ve never missed a beat. The hub pages that they’ve designed for us are very robust and link to all supportive pages.
Overall, we’ve been really impressed with how Operad approaches home page design and wireframing, as well as their level of detail regarding researching particular topics so that no stone is left unturned. However, we’ve recently wrapped up the alcohol rehab campaign, so the fruits of that effort are yet to be seen.
How did Operad perform from a project management standpoint?
Operad has met deadlines and stayed on budget. Their request for feedback is awesome; they’re constantly looking for our feedback through check-ins and weekly meetings. Additionally, we communicate on a daily basis via a Slack channel, email, and occasional phone calls, and we use our own project management software to keep track of the project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Operad’s strength is the level of detail they go into. They research deeply the topics we want to rank for, and they approach them in a very robust and all-encompassing manner.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Leverage the weekly meetings as they’re great check-in points. Given that Operad is based in Israel, there can be a time difference, so having a scheduled time in your calendar to discuss your project with them is very important.

I’m the digital marketing manager for a computer hardware company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Operad?
Operad is our agent for online marketing, mainly for Google Ads.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Operad helps us with PPC and manages our Google and Facebook accounts. They’ve been doing this for eight years.
Additionally, they create Google Ads campaigns and ads on Facebook and LinkedIn. The campaigns change depending on the market, which changes a lot in our industry. They also write the content for specific keywords.
What is the team composition?
We’ve had many people changing over the years, but we’ve been working with a personal manager for the last year. We enjoy working with him, and we also work with his manager, which is in business development. They’re the two main people, but we’ve had technical support from 2–3 other people. Also, we have some meetings regarding global planning and general campaigns.
How did you come to work with Operad?
It was before my time. We did a good setup with them and changed how we structured our workflow. Since then, things have been good.
How much have you invested in them?
Our average payment is around $7,000 a month, although this was a little less initially. In total, we’ve spent between $300,000–$500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started our engagement around December 2013, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve worked with them for eight years because we’re satisfied with their work. We’ve seen the growth over the years, and a big part of that is due to them. We’ve doubled our online sales for the last two years with their help. I have experience in other areas, and I’ve seen that what we get here is excellent.
Operad knows the business and the market, and they have experience. Our results in Google are fantastic and above the industry’s benchmark. They reach our KPIs, which is the main thing you want to get from an agency. Therefore, we’ve received what we expect from the campaign and investment.
How did Operad perform from a project management standpoint?
It’s hard to say anything about project management. We have a personal manager that works directly with us, and we’re in touch with him. We can contact him anytime, and we feel like he’s a part of our team.
For communication, we have physical meetings at the office and weekly meetings on Zoom.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re particular to the business; they try to meet the business needs. We have a unique B2B product, so it’s hard to explain it to customers. Nonetheless, they dug in and understood how to promote it and build the campaign. When we’ve worked with other agencies, they were never that close to the customer’s needs, unlike Operad. That’s the big benefit of working with them.
Also, I want to highlight that Operad follows trends. Digital marketing changes quickly, so companies need to be on top of everything. We try to follow along with them, and we can make decisions very fast.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It’s hard sometimes to say where they could improve. We work together and make mistakes together. Sometimes we need to be more flexible, but we usually are.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
We’re only working with one part of Operad, but they do multiple things. Going with the whole package might be better than with different companies, which might be our mistake. When you work with one team, they can communicate internally, which might bring you more benefits because it’s all connected.

They try to understand the project’s different aspects by asking several questions — they look at the bigger picture. We usually communicate through email, phone calls, and Slack.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Operad has helped us with our SEO and PPC campaigns, email marketing, Amazon wholesale activities, and social media efforts. The team works to identify and prioritize opportunities for us. Since our business involves multichannel marketing, we also have a lot of attribution problems. Their team helps us establish the accuracy of our attribution models and success metrics.
Moreover, they do research for us and provide specific recommendations. The team goes into the granular level of work while also letting us see the big picture. Apart from that, they’ve also given us recommendations on the structure of our landing pages, and we’re gradually implementing these suggestions.
Operad doesn’t create content for us, but they make recommendations about the kind of content we need to develop. They also help us decide how such content should be positioned and coordinated with our other marketing efforts. Then, we create posts consistent with their guidance. They evaluate the results we get, and then they make new recommendations — it’s a continuous loop.
For PPC, they’re involved in our Google, Facebook, and YouTube campaigns. For email marketing, they help us with big-picture strategies. They determine the right mailing frequency and audience segmentation for the campaigns, and they help us with tagging, analytics, and attribution of our campaigns. Overall, their approach to our partnership is unique. One may consider them as consultants, but they work much more like an internal management group.

We’ve seen significant gains in a number of areas. Every time Operad gives us recommendations in terms of our website and SEO, we achieve gains. We’ve also grown our conversion rates, and the team has been deeply involved in that. As a result, we’re expanding our engagement with them; we’re taking in more hours every month and getting in deeper into the relationship.
Overall, they’ve exceeded our expectations, and the team has done an outstanding job. They’re engaged with our brand and work hard to understand it. Everyone in their team is smart and hardworking. Moreover, they have a limited number of clients, so when they take us on, we know it’s because they believe in the upside of our business.
How did Operad perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is one of their strongest points. Typically, consultants don’t help us manage our work; they just give us advice and tell us what to do, and it’s up to us to implement their suggestions. However, everyone at Operad is a doer. In fact, we’re involving them further in managing our projects. The resources are much more integrated into the business — that’s the most unexpected part of our relationship.
Our communication has evolved. We’ve used Zoom meetings and emails before, and we’re currently in the process of adopting their internal communication system to make their integration with us deeper and more effective. At present, they’re using Slack and Monday.

Operad is composed of true marketing people; they’re not just tech people or consultants. The team has truly become part of the business.

I can count on them. They haven’t disappointed me. Even if I come with a big request or I’m short on time, they always find a way to do it.

Some of the communication and context between their internal departments can be improved. The solution would be to improve the account management part.
There might be something a team is working on but when we start working with another team, sometimes we have to onboard them halfway there.

Define what it is you want. It can be a granular plan of tasks or milestones or at least come with specific questions and let them lead the way. Have clear and direct communication.

We chose Operad after working with a different company before. After talking to a few of their clients and tailoring a suit for us we gave it a go.

We had a project manager from the Operad side that was in contact with our marketing team on a daily / weekly basis. In addition, we got a monthly detailed report on all the activities: What was done, what needs to be in the next month, etc.

Over the years, the revenue grew by more than 500%. When we started we sold about 2-3MIL USD a year and we got to 15MIL per year.

A supplier needs to be a professional. But this is not enough. The most important for me is to work with someone I can trust and I have a good relationship with. The relationship was so good they used to join us for company events and trips.
