The goals of the project is to continue to collect massive amounts of structured and unstructured data to develop actionable intelligence and indicators of compromise (IOC).

We were referred to Open Tangerine via a long standing partnership with a mutual third party.

The project was to create a threat intelligence platform based on the functional requirements of the highly technical team. The vendor was responsible for the architecture and development of the platform throughout the development lifecycle. My role in the project was to provide technical and subject matter expertise in order for the vendor to develop the platform with the exacting specifications.

What was the team composition?

There were approximately 5-7 team members involved from the vendor. The vendor was able to meet our exacting needs as we surged to complete various milestones of the project. The vendor was also able to identify and source very specialized resources to meet our requirements.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As our project and platform is ongoing, we have successfully implemented our platform into the market place. We are currently monetizing the platform based on the feedback and rapid development modifications provided by our vendor. The vendor has met our expectations as to the development, response and implementation of our platform in the industry.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow was streamlined to create designated points of contact to ensure Agile and rapid development throughout the lifecycle.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to meet our demands on time and on budget. The vendor is very transparent about issues and challenges that may have come up during the project. They are industrious and hard working and will find the solution to a problem if they do not have it readily on hand.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Communications on both sides can always be improved.

We needed extra development resources for several projects.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked with Open Tangerine Software House for a number of projects, which include DevOps and QA testing. They executed software development for our cloud-based infrastructure using AWS, working with Java for backend development, and JavaScript and React Native frameworks for frontend development. Additionally, they’ve provided QA resources, such as manual and automated testing.

They are currently working on two development and QA projects with us. One is more backend development focused, while the second includes setting up our entire infrastructure.

What is the team composition?

My primary contact was our software developer, but I also interacted with the company's two founders.

We had an immediate need for development resources, and a business associate recommended Open Tangerine Software House. They brought an excellent development team and had an immediate, positive impact on our productivity.

They have an excellent work ethic, and it shows through the quality of their products. As opposed to previous offshore companies I have worked with, Open Tangerine Software House brings both technical resources and innovative ideas on how to improve the project.

How did Open Tangerine Software House perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Jira and Confluence as management tools to track the project. We also schedule daily standups with the software developers to get feedback on progress and any issues.

There will always be challenges when working with an offshore team, specifically with the time difference. However, Open Tangerine Software House has been responsive after hours and during the evenings. They’ve been very good about communicating on tickets and writing comments.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They add value beyond what I have found with other offshore development organizations. They don’t mindlessly follow the requirements but contribute ideas to the project on how to best solve problems.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I would love to see them offer more off-hour support. They are responsive and receptive to our questions or any issues regardless of time, but it would help our team feel less guilty about reaching out during the middle of the night—their time—if there were resources dedicated solely to working in alignment with our time zone.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

With the time difference, their team will be doing most of the development during your off-hours or while you’re asleep, so be sure to have specific user stories that they can use. I would also recommend always having a daily standup, that way there is an effective hand-off and any issues can be addressed immediately.

Their pairing of incredible technical proficiency with self-direction is a unique strength for an outsourced team.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We developed this website for a business launch and have received positive feedback. It's efficient. For now, it's our digital business card. We use the assessment with our French clients.

Project management was effective, and occurred through ZOOM or phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed with their pricing. 

Are there any areas where they can improve?

They could improve their communication, especially during onboarding. That's often the case with culture and language differences. We could have saved time at the beginning if Open Tangerine had checked with us rather than making assumptions about our expectations. However, this changed after a thorough meeting about our shared work process. Communication is a two-way street, so I take half the responsibility.

The Platform has been launched about one month ago, but right now we have positive feedback about dynamic and customer is absolutely sure with further investments.
