I am the founder of the Perfect Cravings bakery and patisserie. We have been selling the best-in-class baked goods since 2017.

Our business started as a small home bakery and operated without any digital presence. We eventually created an Instagram account and other social accounts but we felt the need for a full-fledged e-commerce site. We had two reasons to build a website:

1. Establish our credibility with a beautiful site that brings out the aesthetics of our products.
2. Provide customers with a way to view our entire product lineup and place orders online.

I learned about Opel from an acquaintance that had worked with them before. They promised to deliver a site within our budget. They also had plenty of examples of other websites in the food and beverage space. After looking at their past work, I felt they could deliver the aesthetic I was looking for.

After settling on the project costs, the next important thing was choosing the site designs. They recommended a theme on the Shopify platform. I agreed to use Shopify as it seemed easy to operate. A designer from the Opel team worked closely with me to select and edit the imagery that we would use on the site.

Meanwhile, the development team built the entire site to our specifications within three weeks. There was some back and forth regarding small edits to the menu and site design and the site was finished with payment gateways enabled.

I was told that there were two Shopify developers on our project, but I never spoke with them. I initially spoke with their sales manager and afterward, I was regularly speaking with their project manager. I also discussed the site design and images with their UX and design expert. So four to five people.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

My bakery did not have a website or online sales before this. They enabled online sales for us by creating this website. The look of the site is exactly what I needed. I saw an overall growth of 20% in my monthly sales, though most of this was offline business.

The site gave me a link to share with new customers who couldn’t visit my physical store.

This feature enables consumers to adjust product settings and create their perfect setups. The new website now allows you to upload PDF documents and movies, which greatly improves the user experience.

The new website has been hugely successful. Although our traffic isn't particularly high, our performance and usability have been exceptional in our niche market. Customers have given great comments, mentioning how easy it is to navigate and discover specific product pages. We currently have around 800 visits each day, a huge increase from our prior levels.
