What challenge were you trying to address with Oozle Media?

We needed to to find a more collaborative partner to help us update and revise our website. Our previous contractor had been difficult to work with—they weren’t open to suggestion and tried to apply a sort of cookie-cutter solution to our needs.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They completely redeveloped the site using WordPress. Once that was finished, they also began helping us with online marketing, which they still do. They also help create blog posts for our site.

Their team had seven or eight people in total.

How did you come to work with Oozle Media?

I reviewed other websites that had a look and feel similar to what we wanted and looked into who had developed them. Several of the ones we liked had been done by Oozle Media, so I researched them and looked up reviews of their work. After we had our initial meeting, we decided to move forward with the collaboration.

The initial web development project cost between $15,000–$20,000 and we spend about $12,000 per year on marketing.

We started the project in October 2014 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Not only has their work improved our business, that improvement has stayed consistent over the past four years. We’re more visible online, and our rankings and review ratings are higher. Our web traffic has also increased and we’ve hit maximum capacity as a business because we’ve picked up so many new customers.

How did Oozle Media perform from a project management standpoint?

We have monthly meetings to review the previous month’s marketing numbers and make decisions about how to proceed. They also work with us on quarterly and annual planning. Communication with them has always been fantastic. They’re diligent about responding to emails and sticking to deadlines when it comes to all of the marketing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re great listeners who can add a lot of value to your project via their expertise and insight. They come to the table with a lot of options in order to help us meet our goals. I really appreciate not only that they bring perspective to our discussions, but that they also hear what I need and take it into account.

We started seeing the results right away. I've been in business for 40 years and they're the first company that did things right from the beginning. The trust is usually the hardest part when you start working with a new vendor. It was less of a challenge for us because all of their recommendations were very logical and understandable. We trusted their system and the project was a success. My advice would be to trust their analysis and allow them to implement their plan. Then, you'll know whether it works or it doesn't.

I'm the executive director of marketing of a for–profit regional chain of cosmetology schools in Texas. We have eight locations: six in the Dallas Fort Worth market, one in the San Antonio market, and one in the Houston market.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oozle Media?

We needed a company that had the resources and bandwidth to maintain and grow our PPC campaigns. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?Our business has two different avenues for revenue generation: student recruitment and salon services. Upon taking over the marketing efforts of our company, paid search was a very small piece of our lead generation strategy, and we didn't have much of a social media presence either. We shifted a significant amount of time and resources to the development and growth of our PPC strategy which yielded significant increases in lead volume and increased enrollments. Eventually, the campaign grew to a point that required more bandwidth than was available internally and that's when we reached out to Oozle.
 
They began with an account audit and reorganization, building out the structure and campaigns that we had in place to generate more volume. Oozle transitioned the bid management functions into DoubleClick, which created efficiencies. They used bid strategies that aligned with our volume and cost per lead goals including refining ad copy, the campaign structure, and negative keywords. They grew the campaign from there and eventually we layered in landing pages.

Eventually, our relationship with Oozle on the PPC side evolved into bringing them on to manage our social media advertising component, mainly through Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat using them as a channel for student recruitment. 

We consistently A/B test new ad copy to increase clicks and drive more lead volume. Consistent refinement of our ad copy ensures we're appealing to the right demographic. 

What is the team composition? 

I work with an overall account manager, a social media account manager, and a paid search account manager.

How did you come to work with Oozle Media?

Our V.P. met Chris (CEO, Oozle Media) at an annual conference for the American Association of Cosmetology Schools. She passed along their contact information and relayed that she was impressed by them during her meeting. A few years later, when the PPC campaigns needed more attention than we were able to devote internally. We decided to reach out to Oozle. Oozle had done previous work for another well-known beauty school that has similar demographics and their success in that space made them stand out as the best option for us. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with Oozle July 2015 and are still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Oozle regularly offers recommendations for opportunities to expand campaigns to generate more volume. An early example recommendations for opportunities to expand campaigns to generate more volume. An early example of this was their recommendation to start building out landing pages and optimizing them to improve conversion rates and lead volume on PPC campaign. Internally, we were hesitant to take this approach because we thought that prospects would require a wider breadth of information in our vertical than the limited amount of information that landing pages typically provide. However, Oozle was correct and we saw nice lifts in conversion rate and lead volume as a result of utilizing landing pages on the PPC campaigns. 

We are consistently seeing 9–12% conversion of our PPC advertisements to a lead page, and then from lead pages to enrollments, which I think is extremely high for the industry. Paid search has such an effective ROI for us that some months we've found it very profitable to exceed our budget because of what it costs per enrollment in the paid search channel.

How did Oozle Media perform from a project management standpoint?

In terms of communication and responsiveness, they respond to emails within 24–hours and we have bi–weekly calls to discuss project details. At the beginning and middle of the month, we compare our current performance to past monthly and yearly averages. In these meetings, we also review key metrics such as cost per lead, lead volume increase, and performance by market. We discuss project budget and status including ad copy testing, landing page updates, new campaign build–outs, and any new offerings from Google. Additionally, we discuss initiatives that Oozle would like to initiate and the team sums up those deliverable in a recap email as well as provides updates on progress they progress to completion. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They've been very easy to work with, and we find them both responsive and collaborative. If I have a concern, they listen and address it quickly. They incorporate our feedback while also bringing their own ideas. Partially because of the nature of our business and how our systems are set up, Oozle only has visibility to front end lead information, meaning all the downstream conversion points are housed in our internal CRM. That often necessitates me to step in and dictate strategy and they are always willing to accommodate. 
 
Our social media account manager has helped us navigate all of the recent changes on Facebook that resulted from the well–known data issues. Facebook has been actively pausing audiences without notice, but we have actually been able to generate more leads because of his attention to the account and navigation of all the changes.

Oozle constantly brings new ideas from a paid search standpoint, which has helped to grow our lead volume. They have embraced our business goal of driving directly attributable lead volume, as well as testing various branding efforts such as provided search retargeting, display advertising, Snapchat advertising and YouTube InStream ads.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. A few months ago, I suggested they increase their bandwidth and they added a new PPC–focused employee for our account. That was the only improvement I had for them and they were very responsive to the feedback.

I've been very happy with Oozle Media's customer service. They took good care of us. There have been a few bumps in the road every so often, but whenever I have a complaint or concern, Oozle Media has been prompt in addressing it and showing me that I'm an important client.

Are there any areas Oozle Media could improve?

There was a time when we didn't have a direct person to work with from Oozle Media. They became busier, so it was difficult to get a hold of someone, but Oozle Media has changed this within the last year and a half. The representative who deals directly with us does a great job. We're happy with what she has done, and it has made all the difference.

I would advise clients to be vocal about what it is that they're looking for, and find out exactly what Oozle Media can do for them. Going in with the right expectations, and providing Oozle Media with proper content, will result in a good job for any client.
