I’m the operations director for Lucie Kaas, an interior design company. We sell primarily small home accessories through retailers.

What challenge were you trying to address with ONTRACK DIGITAL?

When we started two years ago, e-commerce was only about 5% of or business. We wanted it to be a new part of our business, but we didn’t have the resources in terms of time, knowledge, and skills. We needed an agency to build our e-commerce site and grow our conversion rate optimization.

What was the scope of their involvement?

ONTRACK DIGITAL provided conversion rate optimization services. We told them our challenges, and they audited our e-commerce site. They found many issues we had to approve, which took approximately three weeks. From there, ONTRACK DIGITAL tried a few experiments and let them run between 2–3 weeks with AB testing. We then implemented some of the things, and it took about 3–4 months to continue developing the site.

Initially, we provided them access to all of our data, including historical data about our customer service, emails, and more. They used Hotjar and Google Analytics to track the site and Google Optimize to do APIs. Additionally, ONTRACK DIGITIAL helped us implement some of the features.

We worked with three teammates: Andra (Founder), an e-commerce specialist, and a developer. Andra was our main point of contact.

How did you come to work with ONTRACK DIGITAL?

I found them through an event where they were a partner. Since we receive money from the Danish government, there was a database of agencies we could work with. ONTRACK DIGITAL specialized in conversion rate optimization and went to the point, while other agencies wanted to do other stuff and put a lot of time into the initial phase.

We invested about €16,000 (approximately $17,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from August–December 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our conversion rate grew by about 20% in that period. Moreover, the number of total orders improved by 114%, so we doubled our revenue when we worked with ONTRACK DIGITAL.

How did ONTRACK DIGITAL perform from a project management standpoint?

We primarily communicated through Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When we asked for something, they were great at implementing it quickly. The communication when we wrote to them was excellent. The team would get back to us quickly, which was helpful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In the beginning, the communication was clear, and we understood what had to be done. However, when they started running the AB tests, we didn’t get a response. We had to reach out to them and ask how everything was going rather than having ONTRACK DIGITAL set a weekly meeting or being proactive.

Additionally, they should’ve had clearer KPIs. Even though the conversion rate improved, we weren’t sure which things did it because they weren’t tracking the differences. We couldn’t point out what helped us, so we didn’t know how much credit went to them. In summary, they lacked transparency, and we couldn’t continue our engagement because we had no data other than the general improvements.

Be clear on what you want and avoid having a broad scope. Use ONTRACK DIGITAL for specific tasks; they’re excellent with things planned out.

We were having conversion optimization and tracking issues with our website, and we needed a company that could help us resolve those issues.

What was the scope of their involvement?

ONTRACK DIGITAL started the engagement by conducting an initial deep audit. They then worked with us to deliver best practices that were to increase the overall speed and efficiency of our website. After that, they implemented improvements and changes on the site and ran a series of A/B tests. They also installed proper conversion tracking attribution so we can correctly attribute all of our sales and have a clear view of our sales funnel.

Aside from that, ONTRACK DIGITAL built a Shopify microsite for us so we could A/B test basic conversions and messaging and get into a rapid conversion optimization iteration.

ONTRACK DIGITAL has performed well in terms of project management. They deliver on time and utilize Trello to manage the project. We primarily communicate through Zoom and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with ONTRACK DIGITAL’s competency. They deliver exactly what they say they’re going to deliver. I know I can always rely on them, which is why I continue to hire them.

No. They take constructive criticism really well, and I’ve never had the same issue twice.

We initially began working with ONTRACK on a conversion rate optimisation project. We wanted to provide our webshop visitors with a better overall experience, resulting in an increase in our overall conversion rate. We continued to work with them on additional projects, with a focus on modernising the the appearance and functionality of our site.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We received a recommendation from an acquaintance with a thriving webshop and were impressed with ONTRACK's portfolio and resume.

There were initial presentations of ONTRACK's evaluation of our webshop, then we discussed our larger goals and objectives. We would decide on a few points to prioritise and focus on during the coming week and continued to have weekly catch-up meetings to touch base. During these meetings, ONTRACK would provide wireframes of proposed features and also data on A/B tests that were set up previously. They used software to prove whether features would be beneficial or not. Their expertise with Shopify was a great advantage to us.

We worked with 3-4 members at any given time, ranging from those with more expertise in data, analytics tracking and web development. I'm not sure of exact positions but each was able to provide specific insight depending on the project at hand.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our conversion rate has increased 30% overall in the year following our initial project and we've received nothing but postive feedback on the thumbnail header that was added to our mobile-design.

There was always easy communication, outside of the weekly meetings. We use Slack to communicate as needed and Trello to present and organise tasks. There is always quick turnaround between our questions and their feedback.

I appreciated their expertise in Shopify and vast knowledge and competence of the world of e-commerce. They introduced us to many new concepts and provided a lot of great examples of what other successful stores are doing. Their management style was also great and easy to adapt to; they were very considerate and flexible when needed.

Nothing comes to mind.

The team has conducted detailed audit reports of our products, which have given us immediate fixes. The team provides suggestions, mock-ups, detailed reports, wireframes, master files for tracking timelines, and progress.

They worked very independently and were quite agile.

When we did minor tests it was hard to justifty the work going into them. So we should have focused more on big changes.
