Oneture was referred by ex-Colleagues who had worked with them in previously in a BFSI work environment and had provided good reviews about their technical capability and reliability as a trusted partner.

The work involved building a Financial Transaction platform using a serverless microservices based architecture , over a cloud environment. The cloud environment used was AWS and its components such as API Gateway, Lambda ..etc

The product was developed using the Agile methodology with regular Sprints and Show-n-Tell sessions with functional teams, to develop the desired product features.

There were multiple developers and a cloud architect who worked with our teams to develop the product. The Senior Management and founder were involved in periodic review and assessment of the development efforts.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The desired product was delivered on time and the entire team was very professional in their interactions with various stakeholders. The Architect and Founder were very accommodative to accept certain architecture and security requirements that came up in the middle of the project development.

Overall, it was a great experience working with the entire team.

The project was developed using the SCRUM framework with regular feedback and review sessions, that kept the delivery aligned with the user expectations.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They came up with right Architecture and development framework and were open to ideas and feedback through the duration of the project. They partnered well with the internal business users and product managers.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The team have been very helpful and accommodative. This sometimes has the potential to derail the project and timelines. I would recommend them to be cautious with accepting change requests with caution.

The project got complete on time. The data collection and sorting used to take 30 minutes per requirement which has reduced to 12 minutes.

I’m the head of data science for a fintech company. We’re one of the first fintech startups out of India.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oneture Technologies?

Accessing data was difficult, and different product teams weren’t getting streamline or historical data access.

We needed an infrastructure revamp. Our size and volume of data was so much and growing fast, so we decided to go with Hadoop stored files. We were bringing in multiple different sources of data all together in one place. We didn’t have data engineers in-house, and we wanted to roll it out quickly.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with the structure data set, which are in different databases. They also had to archive databases. We had around 800+ tables in one of our main databases. We needed an understanding of what would make sense because this was organically grown over 20 years.

We wanted to put it all in one place. A lot of heart went into how we could pull it from these differently structured databases. We were very keen on using a lot of opensource products. They helped us build our regular updates on my side, and they wrote a script that would partition our data.

We had to use Power BI and integrate all of that together. It wasn’t the normal or standard thing to do, but they’re very open to customization.

We spent the first two weeks just looking at the data and different pipelines and finalizing the architecture. They brought in the AWS team to finalize the architecture with us.

What is the team composition?

Initially, we started with one architect, an engineer, and a project manager. We had one data engineer from my side.

After two months, we slightly changed the team because I felt comfortable doing project management myself. In the last month, we just had the data engineer and not the architect.

How did you come to work with Oneture Technologies?

We asked for RFPs, and six different companies responded. We shortlisted Oneture Technologies and chose to work with them to build a good architecture. They came with a very strong recommendation from a friend who worked with them previously.

During the initial talks, they really engaged closely with us and spent a lot of time understanding our concerns and unique challenges. They felt like an extension of our team. Their cost was also very competitive, which was a huge selling point.

We found them to be more responsive and honest about what would work or not work.

We invested $32,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Oneture Technologies from October 2019–February 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I was satisfied. We started off wanting to deliver four things, but we delivered three things because it was a very strict timeline project. We couldn’t start on the fourth thing because, as we started building, we realized there were different challenges that come along the way.

The biggest one was our query time was significantly higher with more than 15 minutes on MySQL databased. Those queries that were more than 15 minutes; it reduced to 3.8 seconds. We benchmarked some of those queries so that we see how much progress we’re making. That was significant for us.

The way people are looking at data has changed because of them.

How did Oneture Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Oneture Technologies listens to my concerns. They’re also willing to customize.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I liked working with them. We still talk about other possible projects with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I still call them about possible future engagements.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be upfront about what your budget is and what you expect out of it. They’re very honest when they can’t do something or if there’s something we don’t need. Have very open communication.

I’m the co-founder of Driefcase, a health tech startup that digitizes personal medical records.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oneture Technologies?

When we launched the product, we had a CTO who was in charge of everything tech-related. In March 2017, we had a falling out and he walked out and refused to serve his notice. He effectively left us high and dry, so we needed an interim CTO and IT consulting.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

At that time, Mahesh (Founder and CEO) and Yatish (CTO) really helped us out. The work they did for us can be split into two parts. One part was finding a new CTO for us. They studied everything we had to do as well as our business plan. They helped us come to the conclusion that we didn’t need to hire a CTO for the next few years because the tech pipeline was laid out for the next 12–15 months. We just needed to hire a few senior employees and not spend money on a CTO. That piece of advice is something we will be eternally grateful for because we were able to hire a few senior engineers. Even today, we don’t have a CTO and we have been perfectly fine.

We also needed someone who understood the architecture as we didn’t have an in-house tech team at the time. The app was developed with a vendor and through most of 2017, we had a maintenance arrangement with that vendor, but we knew it was going to end soon. Our CTO left us at a time when we were supposed to be hiring an in-house team and move most of the tech work in-house. In the interim, Mahesh and Yatish took control of the code. They helped us find the tech team and interviewed people, and over a period of six months. Neither myself nor the other co-founder are technical people, so effectively, they took over as our tech department for a period of those six months. 

We weren’t making new software, but they took 10 to 15 days to understand what we already had. We had some development ongoing that third-party developers were doing, but Mahesh and his team took charge of the interaction with them. They weren’t coding themselves, but they guided the vendor to develop and implement any changes that were needed.

We were mostly in contact with Mahesh and Yatish directly.

I was introduced to the team at Oneture Technologies, specifically Mahesh, through a mutual friend who recommended them to help us out in the interim.

How much have you invested in them?

We paid them a total of 200,000 rupees (approximately $2,671 USD) over a period of six months.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from March–September 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were very happy. In fact, when the formal arrangement ended, we kept in touch with them. We used them as a sounding board if we had ideas. I recently recommended two people to use them as advisors and developers. They were really good, and we are really happy.  

How did Oneture Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They were available to us 24/7. If anything was going wrong late at night, we would get a call back first thing in the morning if not that night.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were really prompt and responsive. I’m quite happy about that.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They had just started up themselves a year or two before us, so they had a very small team at that time. I believe they have hired more people since so I don’t really have any relevant comments when it comes to that.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Keep Mahesh involved because I think he was the real driving force behind it. Yatish was the real tech person, but he wasn’t as interested in the management. Mahesh was the person who did all the organization and project management. If you keep him in the loop, he will make sure everything gets done the way you want it to.

We’re a digital payment aggregator working with retailers. We offer an Android and iOS app, and we work with various large banks, OEM partners, and retailers.

 We enable payment acceptance from various retailer programs, such as cashback and buy-now-pay-later.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oneture Technologies?

We were starting the business, and we needed support across multiple niche areas. We had limited resources at the time, and Oneture helped us scale our team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The relationship had multiple layers. There were cases where they offered their domain expertise to come up with solutions, they offered development work, and they offered management services.

They had a high-level understanding of what we were trying to do. We were building a payment ecosystem with multiple modules. Some of those were developed by our internal team, and some were fully done by Oneture. In certain cases, they had some of their experts come in and work with our team.

We have modules for scan and pay, contactless pay, different bank cards, and so on.

What is the team composition?

We had 12–15 people from Oneture working with us at peak. They worked out of our office. Most of them were AngularJS and Java developers, along with some consultants who took part in our tech prioritization meetings. We also had a couple of testers.

How did you come to work with Oneture Technologies?

They were referred to us by one of the consultants we were using at the start of the company. Oneture had a conversation with me and my head of technology, looking to see if they could support us with the technologies where there was a gap on our end. 

We also found them not to be overly expensive, which contributed to the decision.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Oneture in early-2017. We’ve scaled down our team, and there’s very little participation from Oneture right now.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The overall experience has been pretty good. There’s a bit of angst at times when two organizations work together, in terms of delivery times and so on, but we’re quite happy with Oneture on the whole.

How did Oneture Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

One of the reasons we’ve been working with them for so long is that our teams’ styles match pretty well. Oneture pretty much worked as though they were our own team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We haven’t worked with too many other partners, so I can’t say what would make Oneture stand out.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Despite the fast that they’re quite economical compared to others, I’ve always pushed them to bring down the cost.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

It’s important to have a high degree of engagement with Oneture at the start, and to induct the whole team into the client’s organizational beliefs and goals. We’ve found them straying a bit when it wasn’t completely clear what was expected of them.

Orienting them toward our goals was very important, and we invested time into onboarding Oneture into the organization.

I’m the founder of Ubuntoo, an online platform connecting customers to sustainable technologies and materials.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oneture Technologies?

We needed to develop a platform with a host of features. We needed it to be hosted on AWS and scalable so that it could be upgraded with features in line with client feedback.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided them with graphics and web design, and they coded the website. The bulk of the work that they do is backend development using Ruby on Rails, database management, and searches and queries. The CMS is mostly on Ruby on Rails. They use a few Python scripts, plugins, and third-party software tools. We have a long-term, annual contract with them. 

What is the team composition?

We work with two full-time developers who are dedicated to our business, a UI/UX person, a product manager, and an AWS specialist. There’s also a person who does some AI and NL work on an ad hoc basis.

How did you come to work with Oneture Technologies?

They were referred to me by someone I knew socially in India who had worked with the founder. After a couple of meetings, I liked their team.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent over $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July or August of 2018, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality, speed, and cost have consistently been better than other companies I’ve worked with. Their work is the most reliable, and we get good value for our money. In the last two years, we only had one incident of the website going down and that was because someone hacked us. They were able to get it back up within 24 hours. 

Other than that, we’ve had nearly 100% uptime. The initial year, we probably had a couple of bugs, but since then, almost every release that they’ve done, other than some really minor UI/UX fixes, we’ve had no issues.

How did Oneture Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Jira to monitor their work. One of the developers has been with us for 18 months and the other has worked with us for about six months.  The rest of the team has been with us for almost two years. That gives us consistency of service. The developers are like extended members of my team. I can reach out and talk to them any time I want without having to go through layers of intermediaries. 

Their escalation system is pretty straightforward. Whenever I have a problem, if I feel their developers aren’t really tracking the problem, I just have to escalate it up to the founder and he immediately sends it out to his extended team and finds a solution. I get the advantage of having an extended team but at the same time have the advantage of having embedded team members in my organization.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a young startup. I’ve seen them grow and mature tremendously in the last two years. The thing that keeps me with them is their professional integrity. I get what I’m paying for and more.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve their frontend capabilities. That’s where they’ve been the weakest. Those are skills I’ve had to consistently go outside to get. They could be a one-stop-shop if they improved this.

They’re very good at translating your vision and executing on it.

I’m the CTO for CMS Info Systems. We are the number-one cash logistics company in India; number five worldwide. We replenish ATMs and do cash pickups for various businesses.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oneture Technologies?

We needed to develop a mobile app. There are a lot of challenges around dealing with cash and security.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Oneture Technologies developed a simple mobile app. They built a working prototype, from which we built the pilot app. It’s a one-time combination (OTC) app and automates the process of custodians replenishing ATM machines. The ATM is geo-fenced for security. There are two custodians with the right to open the lock, each receiving half of the password. They must be location-verified, taking a picture with a timestamp, and assigned from the backend for the ATM.

The app was built for iOS and Android, using React Native. It is secure, meaning users must register, and it has to be distributed manually. Each day, the app sends an encrypted SMS which can only be read using the app itself.

Oneture Technologies also did an automation app for us. It handles different pieces of information that come in various forms. For example, there were 90,000 tickets that had to be done manually, along with email attachments.

The team suggested email and ticket bots be built. Email attachments are copied to the Cloud. The emails are run through our rule engine, which generates a justification file, showing the error, previous and next cash transactions, and the liability of the ticket.

Based on that, the ticket is either accepted or rejected. We’re also able to modify the information as needed. Their team worked in Python and other technologies. They currently provide maintenance and additions to this app.

What is the team composition?

For the OTC project, there were two full-stack developers. For the automation project, there were 6–7 people, including a project manager.

How did you come to work with Oneture Technologies?

We liked their approach to solutions and decided to hire them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in July 2019, and our engagement is ongoing. The OTC app was finished in August 2019 and the automation one went live in March 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They built the OTC app in record time; it was just three weeks. It is live and has opened more than 30,000 ATMs around the country. The team suggested we sell the app as a service, which we just did last week for the first time with another interested party.

Oneture Technologies came up with solutions for the remote parts of the country where we were having issues. As a result of the solution, penalties and risks have reduced as well as the time it takes for authentication. Regarding the automation project, all the tickets are handled automatically now. We will also sell this as a service.

How did Oneture Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They work in an agile method. Their team members have great attitudes and are willing to work weekends to get the job done. We use Excel for project management. Communication goes through the project manager exclusively, saving time in meetings. If they finish a project ahead of schedule, they run testing before delivering it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are excellent in terms of being a partner that can develop quality products quickly. They’re very trustworthy with their coding, as well. If they can’t get something done, they communicate clearly with the customer. As a startup, they’re always hungry for more business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Although they go all out to help their customers, they don’t file as many change requests as they should. They should also charge for additional requirements during a project. Scalability to handle a large project would require 1–2 months for them to acquire resources.

I’ve referred them to a few colleagues. I don’t know what more someone would look for in a partner.
