A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I was the CMO of a restaurant business.
What challenge were you trying to address with OH Partners?
OH Partners was the agency of record, so brand activation was the goal.
What was the scope of their involvement?
OH Partners worked on creative that extended into our marketing mix, which included TV, radio, digital, and social. Their team managed marketing campaigns for us. They ran several campaigns throughout the year. They essentially did the creative execution, media placement, and analysis.
What is the team composition?
I worked with 6–7 people from OH Partners, including the CEO, a creative director, a project manager, and an account manager.
How did you come to work with OH Partners?
OH Partners was a large, local agency. It was easy to find them, and their team had a reputation for delivering great work.
How much have you invested with them?
We had a retainer with them. A monthly project cost $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The partnership began before I started at the company.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Quantitatively, we looked at sales and traffic in our restaurants. We also looked at social media engagement. We also compared one year’s results to another year's results. There were slight increases across our metrics.
How did OH Partners perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management was strong. Their communication was typically great. They also did a good job of giving themselves plenty of time to hid deadlines. If there was a risk of not hitting a deadline, they communicated it to us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
OH Partners gave our account a lot of attention. Typically, a company would dedicate 1–2 people to work on an account of our size. We had probably 8 people from OH Partners who touched our business in some way. That level of attention was nice to have.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They weren’t as efficient as I would’ve liked them to have been. It was nice to have many people caring about your account. However, it took longer to complete tasks, and aspects of the engagement cost more than we wanted to spend. The efficiencies granted by a smaller team weren’t there.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure the shoe fits. They’re a big agency, employing hundreds of people. There’s a pace for that. Given that level of overhead, it’s important to be successful. As a smaller brand, we didn’t roll into the engagement with a $50,000 a month retainer. We didn’t get the best of the best, so the creative and efficiencies didn’t meet our expectations. We didn’t get what we paid for.
OH Partners implemented campaigns that yielded slight increases in metrics but failed to generate significant value. To support transparency, they proactively communicated potential delays. By dedicating several resources to the engagement, they provided the client with a high level of attention.
