Work directly with the Tech Lead to build a new web portal and mobile apps for patient management. Main responsibilities:

• DB and ORM data infrastructure to serve an API for web and mobile apps to consume (Django)
• Services for communication: chat functionality, reminders, scheduling (Django channels, push notifications, Twilio SMS and Verify
• services and dashboards for reporting and templates for assisting medical coding
• React Web App for collecting and displaying patient data, including medical histories, medications and visit notes
• Creation and maintenance of React Native Mobile app
• dashboard of medications and activities to log, reminders

• Weekly and often daily builds for fixes and new features

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

At first I worked with individual developers. The Django developer was responsible for the backend and REST API, and I was impressed by how independently he was able to work on this part of the project. Given a clear list of requirements, he was able to design and build a robust and scalable backend that met our needs with prompt delivery of new features and database changes.

The React and React Native front-end work was much more collaborative, and the developer reviewed and tested the apps together with me. He was able to incorporate my feedback and make changes as necessary, which helped to ensure that the final product met our requirements and was user-friendly.

Later, we added a project manager who was able to manage the development process effectively, coordinating tasks and deadlines for three developers. His excellent communication skills helped to keep everyone informed and coordinated, and allowed me to meet less frequently with the team while ensuring product quality and timely delivery.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were flexible in spinning up and down efforts on different projects, which helped stretch our budget and apply efforts where most needed. They had good communication skills, both in English fluency and time to respond to questions or issues. They were often able to complete sprints with little interaction from me, and they reached out for clarification when necessary.
