The Project: This location was losing 40k a month, so they weren’t just not making a profit they were going into the negative. In a 2 year period this location lost $2 million. In just 3 months our team turned their negative trend around and made them profitable again, netting $40k a month and were bringing in 800 leads a month at 13.7% closing ratio.

The Project: To increase profitability for this dealership, we initiated an integrated marketing and operations overhaul and restructure from the parts and service department to the sales dept. We identified all key issues by running an audit which revealed that the underlying issues to us that the minimal profits were due to more than marketing it was also operational. We oversaw staffing, from hiring employees to providing structure to the BDC team as well as sales training.

They’re executing a targeted marketing strategy. They redesigned our website to make it more user friendly and to feature additional discounts for customers. They also created a strategy for targeting customers using mailers and email.

We knew that another local dealership used their services. We gave them a call and found them to be affordable compared to a lot of other agencies.

We started working together in June 2018 and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our close ratio from the website has increased by 40%. Overall floor traffic has also increased 40%. We’re getting 14 customers on the floor every day where we were getting only 10 before. That number includes walk-ins who got a mailer or saw our signage or other advertisements, all which were done based on Nuro Marketing's recommendation. We're selling an average of 200 cars a month, up from 120–130.

Thanks to Nuro Marketing, we can also monitor how many people are visiting our website. Last month, we had 20,000 visitors. We also now have a way to track lead sources and referrals. For example, we can see what automotive website (e.g., Autotrader) is serving as a lead source to our site.

How did Nuro Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Felix is very organized. He comes in 3–4 times a week to check in with us and see how he can help us achieve our goals.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They've saved us a lot of money. Even though it cost money to follow their recommendations, they’re saving us more money than we're spending.

Not really. I'm pretty pleased with the steady growth that we've seen so far.

What challenge were you trying to address with Nuro Marketing?

We were working with another marketing agency that did not provide value for cost. Nuro were our consultants at the time, but we determined that their PPC services for Google, Yahoo, and Bing would generate more growth for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They audited our $45,000 monthly marketing budget and argued they could provide greater value. We agreed to have them optimize our website on its existing platform. Felix, the CEO and founder, used testing ad search navigation metrics to guide UX improvements.

Since, their primary focus has been lead generation. We have weekly meetings to discuss the 6 - 8 email blasts they send each month. While they also help maximize traffic and conversion rates, our industry values lead generation the most.

Key services include PPC and CRM optimization. They do all our online advertising. We also meet every month to review web analytics.

We request proposals every year to renegotiate and ensure competitive pricing. There hasn’t been reason to change vendors.

What is the team composition?

Eddy, the graphic designer, took over project management when his predecessor left the company. He’s our one point of contact. We also have an in-house project manager that oversees our 3 – 4 person team.

How did you come to work with Nuro Marketing?

Felix has been in the industry for nearly 10 years and we’ve always kept in contact. One day, he pitched a project we could work on and I gave him a chance. The referrals I had from corporate and other companies impelled me to refer him to our general manager. He liked Felix and decided to hire his company.

We spend approximately $200,000 per year but our budget changes on an annual basis.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re very happy because they offer and do more than most other agencies. PPC represents their strongest service. Click through rates average 6% – 7%, which is unheard of in the car industry. Our 2017 sales increased 35% over 2016, which beat corporate benchmarks by 20%. We had over 1,000 new and used car sales in that time period. We sold 20 new cars last month and 90 new cars this month. Traffic has also gone up 300% while bounce rates have decreased from high 70s to low 30s.

How did Nuro Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

They always deliver prior to the deadline. For example, they deliver graphics on the 25th of every month prior to the new lease offers that go live on the 1st.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a one-stop shop. That set-up is an improvement over our previous model to split advertising between different vendors that didn’t coordinate with one another. Nuro has brought a new level of consistency to our graphic design and messaging.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should be aware of growth and customer service as they attract new business.

It’s pretty self-explanatory. Be honest about scope and they’ll be able to help.
