Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of applepie Berlin, an e-commerce full-service agency. We develop web pages and prepare marketing strategies and advertising campaigns for clients.
What challenge were you trying to address with notallbad.?
We book freelancer or partner agencies to support us in our projects for some of our clients. Sometimes we need qualified UX researchers, and that’s how we met notallbad.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our general branch is e-commerce, and the clients we worked for with notallbad. are from the food industry. The main thing that we needed from them for this project was a backlog with concrete recommendations to optimize conversion rates.
We had a kickoff to understand the project needs, and we prepared and evaluated the research. We’ve used the double diamond model, which is a design thinking process and they provide research for us. They helped us understand the needs of users around specific websites and web shops, and they created backlogs with recommendations for optimizing conversion rates.
They did interviews and surveys with the target groups, to make sure that we understand all their needs when modifying a web shop. notallbad. put together development strategies for us, but they didn’t do the actual coding.
What is the team composition?
I worked directly with Myrto (Head of User Experience) and Nikos (Co-Founder & Senior Service, Business and UX Design Lead).
How did you come to work with notallbad.?
I found them through recommendations from our internal network, since we were both based in Berlin. I also checked their profile on Clutch.
How much have you invested with them?
The total cost was between €15,000–€20,000 (approximately $17,800–$23,700 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
Though we started working together a long time ago, we took a break and our most recent project ran between January–February 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were really happy with their service, however, we’re still integrating everything put forth by notallbad. so I can’t talk about KPIs yet. We’ve done user testing and saw an increase of 15%–20% in engagement based on notallbad.’s recommendations.
Though the new web shop isn’t online and the figures aren’t confirmed yet, I’m sure they’ll prove to be accurate because the data is based on actual users. The key steps were the first two parts of the double diamond process to optimize the conversion rate, and that’s the result they gave us. notallbad. analyzed everything and gave the recommendations the client asked for.
How did notallbad. perform from a project management standpoint?
Since we only used notallbad. for one part of a bigger project, we handled all the project management on our side. notallbad. was always on time and we never had any issues. They always got back to us if they had a question, and all the organizational parts of the project were well-managed from their side.
Myrto and Nikos worked so well together that we had the feeling that their heads were connected. When I talked with one of them, they already knew everything I’d spoken to the other person about — it was interesting to see how connected they were.
notallbad. was flexible in adopting our tool setup. We communicated via Slack and used ClickUp for project management. We used Adobe XD to visualize notallbad.’s UX recommendations. Some other tools we used were OneDrive, PowerPoint, and Office365.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The most impressive feature was how they conducted interviews with target groups and stakeholders. They got a lot of insight on things we never would have thought about.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s nothing they could have improved; I was really happy, and I’d book them again if the project had the budget for it.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
If the client wants to understand what their users really need, I recommend working with notallbad. There also needs to be a connection point with the users for interviews. Outside of that, they can do the work using analytics, but notallbad.’s main proficiency is in doing interviews and getting insights from users directly.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Momedica delivers software solutions in the healthcare industry. So, most of our work helps with surgery planning, scheduling, and medication.
What challenge were you trying to address with notallbad.?
I reached out to them because I was looking for graphic designers for the UI of an iPad app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I told them the requirements, and we started to work out features from scratch. We worked to identify the problems and requirements with users in mind, and we started to build wireframes. We had a lot of value proposition tests during, both for wireframes and pencil tests, to make sure we’re on the right track. We wanted to ensure that we delivered the right solution for what the users really need. In the end, they finished the project with a final design for the iOS iPad.
What is the team composition?
I worked with Nikos and Myrto (Co-Founder & Senior UX Designer, notallbad.).
How did you come to work with notallbad.?
I was looking for someone who also had a solid base of UX knowledge, and notallbad. was a perfect fit. I’ve worked with Nikos and Myrto before and my project manager recommended them. From my perspective, it’s much easier to work with them than other companies. They make the whole process easier.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with notallbad. in August 2012, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re getting more clients and have more opportunities. We’ve used them for several projects, and have had a really good experience. They had a full understanding of all the iterations, and Nikos (Senior Service and Business & UX Designer, notallbad.) had interviews with users, and I really appreciated the way they approached obstacles. They have a user-centric way of thinking about features, which was really useful.
How did notallbad. perform from a project management standpoint?
We sometimes meet them in person or use video calls and Google Hangouts to communicate. They know exactly what to do within the agile working style, in terms of working with our Trello Kanban board and skills matrix. Unlike some of their competitors, they’re efficient with these systems, which is a big advantage.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve always delivered on time, working weekends and nights to address our client’s needs and present a finished product. It’s amazing that they’ve maintained a positive atmosphere through everything. Even when we call them 5–6 weekends in a row, they completely understand that it has to be done, and they just do it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Occasionally a UX/UI designer can lag behind understanding the business plans. I understand there are some features we just can’t develop, creating some tension. However, they’re very nice and often do more than what they were tasked to do. I don’t expect them to become experts at writing business plans for venture capitals, but they could use better insights on where this comes from. I could really see with them partnering with startups in the ideation space.
Though not all recommendations have been integrated yet, the notallbad. team helped earn a potential 15% increase in engagement and produced exactly what the end-client was looking for. The collaboration was productive and well-managed by the flexible partner.
