BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am a freelance branding director. I help companies find their visual aesthetic, which includes logo design, patterns, color schemes, photo identity, and packaging.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with On Purpose Projects?

I wanted a unique website that would establish my business as a professional and viable option in my field. I previously worked with a WordPress website, but anybody could have that. Having something custom-built for me was the next step in my business.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I wanted to be very involved in the process. I came to them with several designs and some UI/UX direction, and they talked me through which ideas were feasible with JavaScript. I started with a lot of ideas, but it was a collaborative effort to refine them. If some things weren’t possible, they were willing to determine a new solution. They sent me new options for designs that would function in the same way I had envisioned but also uphold my site’s professionalism and remain mobile-friendly.

My portfolio page was the most difficult to design because there are so many moving parts and the background colors change as visitors scroll through the different items. They also made it convenient for me to be able to add portfolio items without contacting them.

What is the team composition?

I worked with the Natasha, the lead project manager, and Diogo, a full-stack developer.

How did you come to work with On Purpose Projects?

I contacted several people through Fiverr, but they were hesitant to take the job because it required JavaScript.

I was familiar with Natasha’s ability from her time working on a project for my daytime employer. I contacted her separately to discuss terms, and she said JavaScript wouldn’t be an issue, so we came to an agreement.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent about $12,000 on this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from February until July 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My SEO has achieved strong results. I’ve had to upgrade my site hosting because I was experiencing so much traffic. My old site was bulky, had unorganized content, and was rarely visited. That is no longer the case.

I am so proud of this new site and how it represents my business. Once I get it more arranged how I’d like, I plan to submit it to a few website award competitions because I’ve been told that it’s inventive enough for that and deserving of that.

How did On Purpose Projects perform from a project management standpoint?

I will forever sing their praises. I was very hands-on and requested several minute changes. Diogo was responsive when we held Skype calls, and he listened to every idea and concern I voiced. It was refreshing to have that level of service. Natasha is an excellent communicator and was able to explain rich technology terms to me. As involved as I was, they worked well independently so that I didn’t have to oversee their every step.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. There was no point when I was unhappy or felt like my project wasn’t a priority.

Any advice for potential customers?

I would simply recommend hiring them. They’re versatile in the types of websites they can build, and they make them look beautiful.
