I am the President and CEO of Interwave Concepts. We have been developing Internet solutions for the Travel and Tourism Industry since 1994.

For what projects/services did your company hire My Virtual Teams, and what were your goals?

Interwave is one of two preferred web developers for the Signature Travel Network. Signature transitioned from how they delivered content to their members' web sites from a SQL data dump to an API. We contracted with My Virtual Teams to convert our Extension to use the new API.

How did you select My Virtual Teams and what were the deciding factors?

My Virtual Teams had been working with Interwave to implement updates to the SQL data dump and was very familiar with our needs. Even with the 12.5 hour time difference, their responsiveness was amazing.

We had been working with My Virtual Teams for several years prior and they consistently delivered more value for the price than other previous programmers had.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Interwave had developed a Joomla Component extension to integrate the Signature SQL data dump into the hosted websites of their members. After personal changes at Interwave, we needed a reliable solution for updating this extension.

After interviewing multiple candidates we connected with Vipin Goyal of My Virtual Teams. Vipin's team was able to update and improve our extension using the SQL data dump.

After being informed by Signature that they were moving to an API we contacted My Virtual Teams, provided them with the new specifications and they provided a reasonable cost and time estimate.

After updating the import routine they updated the core extension as well as additional modules allowing Interwave to provide more functionality to our customers. It was a pleasure to work with their team to develop the various landing page layouts.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Interwave was the first web developer to fully integrate the Signature API. As a result we have picked up several new accounts during Q2 and Q3 of 2020.

Remember these are "Travel and Tourism" accounts and no one is traveling! My Virtual Teams enabled us to become the go to solution for Signature Members!

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

Communication was key! They setup a third-party project management site exclusive to this project. Nightly progress was recorded and we implemented Skype calls/chats to answer questions and flush out solutions. All milestones were met!

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I personally feel that they care about my company's success...a genuine care that permeated every interaction and line of code.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No!

We are working on a project to link 150,000 coffee houses around the world so that a person who walks into these coffee houses can find meet new and fun loving people possibly ones soul-mate.

We have been working together for so many years honestly do not remember. We know friends I consider him family my brother.

We're currently working on the project to connect people.

The team consists of a designers and programmers who work together to create a beautiful symphony of musical code as to help people correspond meet date and find one's soulmate.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

It has removed the stress of having to pay for someone in house to code so that we can focus on other areas of the business. My Virtual team is an Independent well organized coding machine.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project is run by one person who manages the team and reports to me directly as the work Is completed or the manager of operations.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The ability to communicate and his enormous amount of patients. Linking 150,000 cafe's around the world to be not an easy task given what is happening around the world.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There are always room for improvements I would be a liar if I said none. We are as close to perfect as we can get given the circumstances. We face the same problems everyone is facing fear and not knowing what will happen next.

We’re a Toronto-based digital agency that serves medium-sized companies with digital strategy and execution. We’ve been in business for about 25 years, and I’m the president and founder of the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with My Virtual Teams?

We work with them as an external partner for web development, complicated back-end projects, and specialized digital services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our first project together was a WordPress site that required significant customization. Our in-house team was busy at the time, so we reached out to them for outsourced WordPress development. In this case, we provided them with general storyboards and creative, and they handled the front- and backend work. It also required them to build a custom theme and specialize that as well. 

Our client was concerned about the security and privacy of their content. They were managing a suite of investment portfolios, so users needed to be able to log in and view permission-based investment documents. The creative and UX were big priorities. Additionally, they needed to build out administrative processes that would allow people within their organization to manage and update content. The site was integrated with Mailchimp, so the internal team could market their content.

While the site has been launched, they’ve managed updates and the implementation of new features since then.   

What is the team composition?

We had one main point of contact. There were also two developers, one creative teammate, and another specialist. 

How did you come to work with My Virtual Teams?

We previously worked with them on an Upwork project, staying in contact after the end of the project. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $15,000–$25,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2018, and the project was completed in September 2018. Our relationship is ongoing, as we’ve taken on other projects with them since.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We work with many outside suppliers, and it’s difficult to find a team with strong skills and great customer service. Their team definitely has that. When our client indicated that they wanted to make an addition to the project midway through development, they were willing to take on the challenge and focus on fixing the problem first.

They didn’t have to redefine the scope and their billing before taking care of the issue at hand. Through this project, we impressed our client and secured some additional work with them.   

How did My Virtual Teams perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly Skype calls, and they were available to us as needed over email. They were also willing to accommodate our timezone differences if necessary. We set up a Google Sheet to track progress, and that’s all we needed on that front. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They genuinely care about the quality of the project and creating a strong customer experience. Their team went above and beyond with the requirements, especially with their creative work. I appreciated that. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. Their project management was excellent, their code was strong, and they were always responsive. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It helps to have very clear communications and requirements with any remote relationship. While their creative was amazing, they may have spent too much time on it. We could’ve provided a better creative brief, so they didn’t end up overdelivering.

I’m the CEO of Indur, which is a healthcare company that offers direct-access blood testing, nutritional supplements, and virtual healthcare consultations.

What challenge were you trying to address with My Virtual Teams?

We have our own backend PHP programmer for our ecommerce site, but we needed someone to build our frontend using the Magento platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Virtual Teams did all of the frontend design work using HTML coding and Javascript. They continue to work with us to develop any additional features we want.

What is the team composition?

We worked with developers. We had mainly one point-of-contact, but they brought people to our team when their expertise was needed.

How did you come to work with My Virtual Teams?

We found them on UpWork. Our chief technology officer interviewed them, focusing primarily on skill-based questions. We initially decided on another company, but that didn’t work out, so we enlisted My Virtual Teams for the project because they were most qualified.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on the website in July 2016. We did the beta launch in March 2017. Currently, we’re still working with them, and we anticipate continuing to do so for the next six months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Because they’re handling the frontend, the quality of their deliverables is very obvious. So far, the quality has been very good. Our chief technology officer periodically takes a look at the coding they’re doing in conjunction with the backend, and it's well done.

How did My Virtual Teams perform from a project management standpoint?

They did very well. Our communication was good — they spoke fluent English and remained responsive to our needs. They met our deadlines, often working into the weekend to ensure they did so.

We primarily use Basecamp to communicate, as well as email and Skype. We also have our project management tool we use to track their progress.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They respected that we are a new company that’s quickly growing. They met our needs efficiently and effectively.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. If we have any issues, we’re able to bring them up with the developer or supervisor, and it gets rectified immediately.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you have a good project management tool you can use to track the progress of your project.

We are an e-commerce and loyalty website, similar to Amazon and Groupon combined. I’m the manager and manage the whole process of the development of the project.

What challenge were you trying to address with My Virtual Teams?

I needed help in developing the platform. At first, I wanted to see if My Virtual Teams had the same vision I had for the business model that I wanted to build. I wanted to know if they had the ability to develop what I wanted, and to my surprise, they did. They have the same kind of vision, and we’ve been working together for over five years.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I explained to them what I wanted and My Virtual Teams designed mockups for the website. They built everything from start to finish including design and coding. We used JavaScript, PHP, and other languages to build the platform.

Everything our company has been built 100% by My Virtual Teams. They built a CMS first and two different websites as a loyalty page and e-commerce page. Then we put them together as one website. They also built an iOS and Android application. They have contributed to the ideas of the features as well. The original features and functionalities have shifted because the business grew so fast. They are currently redesigning the application based on our users’ feedback.

We have a loyalty page and an e-commerce page. On the e-commerce page, the whole design is not user-friendly. The users have complained that it’s hard to search for products. My Virtual Teams has helped us redesign the entire e-commerce page. Users have also complained about the checkout process, so they’ve also redesigned that to make it as simple as possible. We are currently in the process of integrating the new design that they built.

We have spent over $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in 2015, and the relationship is ongoing. I’ve worked with them since 2009 on other projects with other companies.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Their flexibility and the fact that they understood our vision, helped our company get to where we are today. We discuss any changes before we implement them, and they are very good at it. They have ways we can market the website and suggestions on how we can improve things.

How did My Virtual Teams perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate every day through phone calls. I have worked with other agencies before, but managing My Virtual Teams is really easy. They have a lead person that I communicate with, and the developers communicate with that person. The communication is very clear. If they don’t understand what I’m trying to say, we call and talk. We also type it out for the records so they can remember. We keep track of all the tasks in Kanban, assign tasks from there, and can see what has been completed.

Everything has been very smooth. We don't have any problems with communication. Because their work is so good, I’ve recommended them to friends.

What did you find most impressive about My Virtual Teams?

They’re reliable and they get things done when they tell you they will, if not before. They always make sure they test everything before presenting it to us. Whenever there are issues, they help us at any time, even in the middle of the night. I like that they’re available all the time.

Are there any areas My Virtual Teams could improve?

When I first started with them, one of the programmers they assigned was not getting the work done on time. I complained to them and they took action immediately by replacing him with somebody reliable. I haven’t had any other problems with them.
