I’m a manager for an international development organization.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Multisistemas?

We needed help developing e-learning platforms and apps for training electoral staff.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The project was to develop a sustainable beta classroom. Multisistemas helped train the staff of the electoral institutions by organizing the structure of the electronic classroom and the access and registry of the users. They also helped us contract a cloud service to upload all the content because we didn’t have the servers at the institution.

Parallel to that, we developed three mobile applications. The first was a voting simulator. The country we were working in had a very complex electoral system. Citizens weren’t used to it because it had suffered a lot of changes, so it was important that they could practice before casting their official ballot. It was made for both iOS and Android.

The second app was a compilation of all the electoral laws. The third app was a tutorial for the managing of the vote reception boards (tables where people go to cast their ballots). It was important for us to provide them with an app that could be taught easily and managed easily on election day. Electoral staff could check any process they didn’t remember, and the application included animated videos.

What is the team composition?

There were four people—one supporting the beta classroom and one specifically for each of the applications.

How did you come to work with Multisistemas?

We looked at different international and national vendors. After the selection process, we chose Multisistemas.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $125,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from June 2017 until March 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It was a hard process because we had a very short timeframe to work in, but Multisistemas as able to achieve all the goals we had in the contract. I’m satisfied with their service. They understood our requirements.

In the first version, we found some issues, but it was because we required them to do it in a very short time. They were responsive in making the changes.

How did Multisistemas perform from a project management standpoint?

I don’t have any complaints with project management. We had direct contact with the person responsible for every one of the apps. We could ask them for help, and they responded very well. They were always available and everything was done on time. Communication was good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was a really good experience. They were always quick to respond.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could have managed their time better in achieving some of the goals. At first, they struggled to understand what we wanted, and their delivery was lower than we expected.  

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear on what it is you want to achieve, and have them show you how it might look because you may be thinking something very different than what they’re thinking.
