What challenge were you trying to address with Moweb Technologies Private Limited?

I wanted to find a vendor who could help develop my idea into an app which was to create a game where players can challenge each other to a virtual soccer match.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a native app for iOS and Android. They created multiple playing modes where players can either compete individually or invite friends to join their team. The app also has the ability to keep track of rankings and player’s statistics.  

How did you come to work with Moweb Technologies Private Limited?

I initially looked for an app developer in Switzerland, where I currently live, but it was too expensive seeing as this was a side project. I decided to look for offshore developers in India since my parents and family live there.

I posted about the project on PeoplePerHour and they reached out to me. Out of the other companies that I considered, they seemed like the best fit for my needs. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about €25,000 (approximately $30,000). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in March 2018, and the work is ongoing.

I haven’t tracked any specific KPIs, but the quality of their work is good. 

How did Moweb Technologies Private Limited perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very engaged. I was hesitant about working with an offshore company because I thought communication might be difficult. However, they’re always easy to reach and they typically respond to my inquiries between 1-2 hours. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re always willing to put in more effort and have an excellent work ethic. Rather than trying to charge me for every small request, they were accommodating to my requests. They cared about the quality of the project overall. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be helpful if they had a team member that is more client-facing and can handle regulatory and administrative questions.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

It’s beneficial to have a clear plan from the beginning of the engagement so you can track milestones, especially when working remotely.

I have used a few different dev companies over the years but Moweb is in a completely different league with customer service, support and helping structure a smoother platform. They understood our goals.

We sent over full guidelines and designs for them to mirror in code, but that being said, there support/ideas, and contribution in making the platform more seamless has been second to none.

Out of their team of 30, we had 4 dedicated members of Moweb plus project manager Jainam who is a great point of contact.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Their speed in getting things done is great! To-date the project cost is very cost-effective for the type of work we have. They have helped us build a better platform.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The communication is 10/10, as a tech company we face many issues, that is always quickly resolved by Moweb, perfect English spoken and time difference from the UK to India doesn't affect us, they are always working around the clock and you can always contact, whatever the time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their problem solving and communication skills stand out.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is very little to improve, they have never faulted us.

My company is called Dealsy. We are a mobile app, which aggregates sale items from retailers like H&M, Top Shop, Zara, and other big U.K. retailers. We take all their sale products, and we put them in the app for people to buy, and to have a map that shows you what current in-store retail deals are surrounding our users as well.

I am the founder and CEO.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Moweb Technologies?

[It was slightly less than] two years ago, when I first came up with the idea [for the app], and I was looking around for developers because I'm not a programmer myself. I was meeting with different companies and developers, and Moweb came up. We had about four or five meetings, and the whole objective was for someone to build the first prototype of the app.

They developed everything from scratch, iOS and Android as well, both platforms with the back-end. They've pretty much built everything from the ground up.

How did you come to work with Moweb Technologies?

At that time, it was my first project, and they made me feel like things were in good hands. They put me at ease. At the time, I was working in the city for a couple of years, and starting an app was obviously quite daunting. They did make me feel quite secure in their method, and their approach for how we were going to build this product. I was introduced to a designer who was good – someone who I'm still working with today. I guess the reason why I went with them rather than others was the kind of handholding approach [they had], really helping someone like me understand how to build it and then actually doing it.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was around £18,500 [approximately $29,000] for iOS, Android, and back-end altogether.

What is the status of this engagement?

The first bit of code was written in November 2013, and we submitted to Google Play and Apple in April 2014, so roughly five or six months. That wasn't exactly what we had planned for. When it comes to these kinds of things, nothing is ever according to plan. When he told me how long it was going to take, I think it was around four or five months, but it was my fault as well because I wanted a lot of changing, I had new ideas I wanted to put in. In terms of whether I'm satisfied with the actual timeframe that he gave, it was perfectly reasonable, considering that I was being a quite difficult customer and always adding things. He definitely came through and stuck with it.

Could you share any results from this engagement?

It was definitely everything I asked for, in version one. That was a year ago, and we have two different versions after that. For the version that they built, it was clean, good, and did exactly what I envisioned it to do at the time. In terms of our beta users, they thought it was a very slick platform. In terms of quality of work, they definitely did a good job.

What distinguishes Moweb Technologies from other providers?

When I met them nearly two years ago, their company was small. They had around 12 or 13 people on board. Now they've grown to about 40 people, and they're doing design as well, which they didn't do before. I guess, in that retrospect, they're unique in terms of how fast they're growing. I can't really compare because I haven't really used another mobile app provider.

From what I know and what I have experienced, Moweb Technologies is very professional – very on-call. I think that's quite special. Usually, you're just handed a project manager, but they were very hands-on. I've actually recommended them to one of my buddies a year ago who wanted to do an app as well. Even though they have grown, their approach is still the same. I think that's a massive plus.

In hindsight, are there areas in which they could improve, or things you might do differently?

I guess there are a few things. At the start, I was a bit skeptical, working with someone who is based in India. I was skeptical in terms of the fact that they're so far away. You wonder if the time difference is going to affect communication or the quality of work. But, those doubts were quickly squashed by how quickly they respond to you and the quality of the results.

There is some negative feedback, and this actually contradicts a little bit what I said with communication. That might be my fault as well, when trying to explain something, and they didn't do exactly how I wanted the first time, or the second time, but they always do pull through at the end. The truth is, it is tough communicating with people who are so far away, and then obviously it's a product that you care so much about, and they care about it, too. When you want things changed, and they're not changed your way, you have to go back and forth. But, it never got to a point where there's an aspect of the finished product that I wasn't happy with.

What was your goal for working with Moweb Technologies?

It's a complex app. I worked with some other guys on the app, and it was hard to get my point across. I did the design.

There's two applications they've helped us develop. It's a way for business to generate instant clients around them from their mobile device and generate target statistics. They developed a website, which will be live tomorrow [June 2015] – Wizl.it. They developed an iOS app, Android app, and the back-end system that we can work from. They did a lot of work.

What was your process for selecting Moweb Technologies?

I was feeling stretched out with who I was using. I had spent a lot of money. I sent Moweb an email, and it went from there. He was in London a couple of weeks after that. So, I met with him.

It was between $10,000 and $50,000

When was the work completed?

It's ongoing. I have been working with them for more than a year.

Do you have any statistics or metrics on the project?

I went to a company in London, and they quoted me about $350,000. Moweb did the same quality of work for 85 percent cheaper [$297,500]. 

Are you satisfied with their performance?

They understand so much. You only need to tell them what you want once, and they actually know exactly what to do. I was a happy man working with them. They don't do average work. They do what big companies do. I wouldn't change them, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'm completely comfortable with handing over money before they even start the project.

Is there anything unique or special about Moweb Technologies that makes them stand out? 

They deliver high-quality work at a great value. When I heard their quote, I was skeptical at first. Generally, you hear people say you get what you pay for but, in this case, I got more than what I paid for.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

No. Not really. We worked constantly every day. We had our days where things would go slightly wrong. It was just standard things. In the end, everything went to plan.
