Please describe your organization.
I work for the credit card company MasterCard Worldwide.
What are your role and responsibilities?
I’m a product manager for the MasterCard Biz website, which includes three separate websites in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. I oversee the development, production, and content distribution for these sites.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What was your goal for working with Movable Media?
When MasterCard Biz was originally conceived, the goal was to drive traffic to another site called MasterCard Business Network. However, recently we’ve changed our focus, and MasterCard Biz has taken on a life of its own. Working with Movable Media as a whole, we’ve been able to build up MasterCard Biz to be its own standalone site. Our goal moving forward with Movable Media is to keep creating content that engages customers so that we continue to increase our repeat business at MasterCard Biz.

Please describe the scope of their work.
Our partnership with Movable Media started at the end of 2012. We brought them on to develop content across many of our media channels including our social media feeds. We continue to partner with Movable Media for all of our content development needs.
What was your process for selecting Movable Media with which to work?
I wasn’t at the company when they were selected but from what I understand we explored multiple companies in this space and Movable Media best fit our needs.
Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?
Movable Media has been really good about working within our budget. While we’ve come nowhere near what an optimal program, they’re always willing and able to work with the numbers, and really optimize our budget to give us the most work they can. They’re great in that respect. During the last couple years our annual spend with Movable Media has varied. We have spent on average somewhere above $50,000 per year. We are looking to increase our marketing efforts for MasterCard Biz for 2015. We currently have about $100,000 budgeted for Movable Media’s services, but I would not be surprised if that goes up as we ramp up our efforts.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?
When I began work with MasterCard Biz, we didn’t have much content to present on our website. What content we did have was static and not really compelling. The MasterCard Biz website was only seeing about 200 to 300 hits a month. Once Movable Media started providing us with content, we saw an increase in traffic to the site. However, it wasn’t until later that year that Movable Media helped us to implement an Ad Campaign to increase traffic to the site. Movable Media helped us go from 200 or 300 hits a month to around 12,000 to 15,000 a month.
Is there anything unique about Movable Media that really makes them stand out, compared to other business partners you’ve had?
One thing that stands out to me is their work environment. Their office is very close to ours. I’ve been able to go down to their office on a regular basis and brainstorm ideas with their team. I think of Movable Media as less as a vendor and more of a colleague. They’re an integral part of our team.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?
That’s a difficult question for me to answer. They have done as much as they could with the budget that we provided them. They’ve always come back with great ideas for us to improve our site even further.

What was the business challenge or business goal you were hoping to accomplish through partnership with Movable Media?
When we brought on Movable Media, I had recently started a content marketing team and our goals were to drive engagement not only through traditional direct marketing but also through product marketing. We needed to market our company’s brand and value while also marketing our specific products.

Movable Media was brought in to influence our content marketing and they helped us find the influencers who would blog about various topics that were of extreme interest to our client base. Eventually, every business unit at the company got interest and has used Movable Media.
What was your process for selecting Movable Media with which to partner?
I heard about Movable Media through a previous employee who at one point partnered with Movable Media and was impressed by their work. In the search for a company to help us out with our blog, we interviewed other blogging companies, but Movable Media was the only company that came to the table with their own ideas based on things they had done well.
Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in terms of dollars or a personnel work hour figure?
We first partnered with Movable Media in 2007 and have had an ongoing partnership with them since. On an annual basis, we spend somewhere around $50,000 with Movable Media. The exact work and size of the projects through the years has varied. They have extended their influence and worked with more and more business units across my company.

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?
Movable Media created the content for our blogs and boosted the engagement by astronomical numbers. It was a 10-to-1 ratio in terms of engagement from before and after. The people at Movable Media are just really great people to work with.

Movable Media was much more agile and flexible than other blogging companies. They had an opinion and it was based on successes they had achieved in the past. We really had no bumps in the road working with them. That’s uncommon to find working with external business partners.
