Introduce your business and what you do there.
I run the marketing team and sales administration for Tandem Contracting.
What challenge were you trying to address with Mount Freedom Printing?
As a small business that’s expanding, we were trying to be more professional, so we needed folders to present to clients. It’s a big task because the folder kind of becomes the face of your business. I’ve used Mount Freedom Printing in the past for a small project with another business, so we worked with the team to design new folders and we’ve used them since the inception.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They help us do wall signs and yard signs. We also created these review postcards that we hand out to clients. Once they’re done with the job, we give them this card with a scannable QR code that leads them to a page where they can write a review for us. We also did custom stickers that we put on all our tools.
We talked about the big picture that includes the type of project we’re doing, and what makes sense as far as size and style go. From that point, once we have the layout figured out, we then work with our design team via email. We meet in person as well, but email is just as good these days to work on how we want the layout to look. The last part of it is invoicing, so it’s really on an average basis.
What is the team composition?
We primarily deal with the owner and about three other people.
How much have you invested with them?
Overall, we probably spent around $10,000 since the beginning. The folders were a big project, and then the signages were in-between stuff.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our first engagement started in September 2017. We’re still working on an ongoing basis whenever we have any print projects.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve never had an issue with quality working with them — it’s been flawless every time. They’re very creative with their ideas and their work is great. Dealing with someone in person instead of relying on a website with someone you’re never going to meet has also been great.
We sympathize with small businesses who support one another, and that’s been a strong reason why we continue to use them.
How did Mount Freedom Printing perform from a project management standpoint?
Excellent because they often exceed our expectations. If I needed something for tomorrow, we wouldn’t be surprised if I had it today. We’re also ahead of deadlines most of the time.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their customer service. One of the owners will often hand-deliver projects when they’re completed. I think getting that little personal touch really separates them from most of the businesses in the printing world.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, honestly. I’ve had no issues or complaints with them ever at any point in time.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Take the time to sit down and understand your project. In this day and age, people are so used to just using websites and some of the bigger manufacturers that you see online. They don’t even realize how limited they are to options until you sit with an actual pressman. Make sure you get something that you actually want instead of what’s being force-fed to you.
