Exploration, information, and authenticity

Our creative planning process and approach are summed up in three words: Exploration, information, and authenticity. We dig for insights on both the brand and consumer sides. These insights help us build creative assets that speak to consumers with the levels of authenticity that are central to creating lasting relationships and strong brands. It is our belief that there is nothing more powerful in marketing and advertising than truths told boldly, creatively, and with real conviction.

It is our job to be optimists and to see opportunities in the challenges of business, and we never forget who we work for and why. Like explorers, artists, poets, and scientists, we examine the everyday with endlessly curious and exacting minds.

As a firm, we strive to always be curious, bold, and honest. We are an agency built by and for people who love creative explorations; who dare take chances; and who are like-minded in the desire to create great work, but who are different enough if their beliefs to create a wide range of thought. We love work, life, and work filled with life. And while our careers were forged helping Oakley grow into a billion dollar leader, we are not limited to action sports or any niche. In fact, we take the energy and excitement found in sports such as surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and more and apply them to all our work.

2016 RIO OLYMPICS - GREEN FADE COLLECTION

SET-UP: In the 1980’s Oakley introduced their Performance Collection with neon green as the hero color. For the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Oakley launched a new Performance Collection using the neon green heritage color paired with white to symbolize unity, and thus Green Fade was born. The product story is twofold much like the Green Fade design and technology.

EXECUTION: Oakley’s Green Fade campaign recognized that elite athletes need an edge in competition, especially the Olympics. Around 720 world-class athletes wore the Green Fade eyewear while competing in and attending the 2016 Summer Olympics events. Oakley sponsored athletes were featured in the campaign in the limited edition Green Fade collection. Sport-specific Prizm™ lens technology was also showcased to educate consumers on the advantage of the new lens technology. The Green Fade campaign included creative development, photography, print, digital, social and out-of-home.

Feedback summary:

Moonbeam Studios delivered compelling visual assets within an aggressive timeline, thanks to their ability to tackle last-minute changes. Their open communication and solid project management catalyzed great results.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the senior brand director for a company that creates purpose-built apparel and gear. Our products enhance the safety, accuracy, speed, and performance of tactical professionals and enthusiasts worldwide.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Moonbeam Studios, Inc.?

We utilized  Moonbeam Studios for the conceptualization, preproduction, and photoshoot production of our new Class A Poly/Wool Uniform product launch.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to conceptualize and execute an authentic shoot. Due to sample availability constraints, we had an aggressive timeline. While we typically do all of our content creation in-house, we decided to outsource this project to keep the project on track.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I have previously worked with  Moonbeam Studios’ founders, so I was familiar with their work style and output. I knew they would execute a complex shoot successfully.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

Moonbeam Studios came up with a creative concept and identified the shoot location, scenarios, and props required. They scheduled and coordinated the talents for preproduction tasks, including fittings, and managed the shot and props lists. On the day itself,  Moonbeam Studios took photography and video. Following the brief and shot list, they selected and delivered a robust set of photo and video assets to us.

What was the team composition?

The core team consisted of three people. For the day of the shoot, they brought in additional resources as needed.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They executed the shoot without any issues and handed off all final files promptly.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Moonbeam Studios was organized and easy to work with. We had a dedicated project manager who made sure everything ran smoothly and kept the communication open and constant. As a result,  Moonbeam Studios was able to keep things on track despite an extremely tight timeline. Not only were they receptive to all feedback prior to the shoot, but they quickly adapted to the changes we threw at them, including a rescheduled shoot due to sample issues.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They had a small team, but their output and process were impressive. They had a great team dynamic, which made it easy to work with them.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None at this time.

Feedback summary:

The work that Moonbeam Studios provided was well-received internally. Deliberate project management and a positive attitude made them a great partner to work with.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the vice president of marketing at RED Technologies. We’re currently in the process of launching a new media machine and smartphone called Hydrogen. It has several features that are new to the industry, including holographic display, multi-dimensional surround sound, modular capabilities, and an industrial design.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Moonbeam Studios?

We were looking to revamp the look and feel of our brand through updated messaging, slogans, and photography.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

At the start of our engagement, we spent about two months working with them to convey our ideas around what we had in mind. They came to the table with a creative approach and outstanding ideas. As we went through the rebrand process, they provided substantive input and innovative solutions for campaigns on the site. They also took beautiful photos of the product for marketing purposes.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with four team members, two of which I had known previously. I’m sure they had support working behind the scenes as well.

How did you come to work with Moonbeam Studios?

We had worked with members of their team in the past on other marketing projects before they founded Moonbeam Studios, so we were aware of their capabilities and their work ethic.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between January–March 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They came up with several effective slogans that we’ll be using in our marketing efforts. They also provided creative input that we’ll also be incorporating in our strategies. Their work was received very well internally.

How did Moonbeam Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

They managed the project extremely effectively, which was key in the project’s success. They’re great to work with. We met face-to-face at our office about three times during the proposal/planning process, and I went to them a few times as well. During the project, we communicated primarily via phone and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

On a personal level, their attitudes made the project enjoyable. Work is much better when you enjoy who you’re working with. They were seasoned, highly creative professionals that take direction effectively and produce high-quality results.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Stay connected to the project throughout the entire process. The more guidance you can provide, the better their deliverables will be. Communicate with them as frequently as possible.

Feedback summary:

As expected, Moonbeam Studios offers critical counsel across all facets of their work. They're an evolving team still getting their bearings, but they're skillful, learning quickly. As such, they're strong candidates for subsequent engagement.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the president of a volunteer organization called Infinite Hero. We were founded about five years ago by our corporate partner, Oakley, where I was also the CEO. Since then, we’ve joined forces with our partners to fund various projects that help veterans.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Moonbeam Studios?

Over the years, we'd accumulated a mismatch of branding assets–some robust and strategic, others random and devolving. As a result, we needed resources to serve as our marketing arm, providing a range of counsel on digital and more general branding services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve completed a couple of projects together so far where they provided strategic advice on our branding approach. Initially, they assessed all of our assets before generating a framework that served as a template for future materials. From that exercise, the team developed numerous hypothetical creative narratives.

Currently, we’re working on allocating funding to develop materials for our new website launch. While we haven’t used them for asset generation yet, we’re considering moving forward with them as we secure the resources.

What is the team composition?

I typically work with their co-founders, but their team includes 5–6 subject matter experts specializing in a wide range of creative fields.

How did you come to work with Moonbeam Studios?

I had worked with many of their core members while I was at Oakley. At the time, they served as our internal creative team before our organization changed, and they formed Moonbeam Studios. Once I became the president of Infinite Hero, they offered to help me with my branding. I knew what their capabilities were from their time at Oakley, and, likewise, they already understood our needs.

How much have you invested with them?

They’ve offered their services for free.

What is the status of this engagement?

Their work began in October 2017 and is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their team members are passionate and intelligent contributors. Since their time at Oakley until now, they’ve been essential to our success as an organization.

How did Moonbeam Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is great to work with, and their project manager is top-notch. We often communicate face-to-face or via email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Although they’ve only recently formed, they’re a young and hungry group that will only continue to grow. I’m confident that they have all the talent and capabilities needed to become successful.
