I’m the VP of engineering and co-founder at Intangles. We’re an IoT-based company that leverages vehicle concepts for vehicle health monitoring and alerts. We also do driver behavior analysis and fuel monitoring. This makes us a part of the telemetry industry. 

I lead the entire engineering department. I’m also responsible for making strategic decisions and planning the future of the company in terms of scaling the company to a global level.

What challenge were you trying to address with Moolya Testing?

Similar to other startups, our company prioritized the delivery of our proof of concept and penetrating the market. As a result, we sometimes ignored the importance of attention to detail and the quality of the product. When we started selling to a lot of customers, the quality became truly important. As a result, we hired Mooly to leverage their expertise around QA testing. Instead of using in-house resources and experimenting, we decided to go to the experts.

In the beginning, we onboarded three people: a project manager and two QA specialists. We’ve added two more QA resources since then. In total, we work with five teammates.

Our CTO found Moolya through some of his references. He also researched about the team and how they acquired their expertise. Based on that, we decided to hire Moolya.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our company engages Moolya because we want to deliver quality to our customers — we’ve achieved that. We hardly receive any quality-related issues or complaints from customers any time we roll out new features. Instead of getting quality-related complaints, we’ve started getting quality-related compliments. Customers have received the product well, and Moolya ensures that they test the quality of every feature. 

Moreover, since our engineering team has been working closely with Moolya, they’ve started developing their own thought processes in terms of ensuring quality delivery. In other words, our entire development process has been enhanced. 

How did Moolya Testing perform from a project management standpoint?

Moolya’s project management is great. Regardless of restrictions, the team always delivers on time. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The first two QA resources have been phenomenal and exceptional in terms of bringing ideas to the table. They go above and beyond in exceeding expectations and addressing their responsibilities. They’ve always been accountable for what they do. The two new QA specialists also seem up to par, but we need a bit more time to know. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Though this isn’t exactly something that needs to be improved, collaborating with a team in a work-from-home fashion is becoming more difficult. Close collaboration between the QA and the developers is important.

Nonetheless, Mooyla has addressed this. Some of their resources have been working in the office. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Moolya is a highly structured organization. You have to be aligned with that structure. That way, you can truly leverage the abilities they bring to the table. Having a structured process will make your QA testing efforts highly efficient.

They actively collaborate on various ongoing projects and help us test the quality, ensuring we offer our customers a tremendous and world-class experience.

Ankesh (Associate Lead ET) and Rakesh (QA) quickly identified the challenges that needed to be tackled. They work independently on projects, handling everything from planning, design, test execution, risk assessment, and product release. The team offers a complete end-to-end solution for these projects. Additionally, our organization nominated one of the developers for an award.

How did you come to work with Moolya Testing?

Pradeep (Founder & CEO) has a very rich background in software testing. He's a very well-known figure in the testing community in India and globally. Because we knew of their experience, we were confident that the quality of services we would receive from Moolya Testing would be great. They were an obvious choice, and we reached out to them.

We've been thrilled with the engagement with Moolya Testing. Their engineers have been with us for a few years, and they continue to add value. 

Some projects they're involved in are related to the integration side. As a SaaS company, we have hundreds of integrations across the board. Their engineers help to qualify these integrations, and we don't encounter critical issues. Moolya Testing's work has made an enormous impact.

We don't typically differentiate between our employees or consultants from a cultural standpoint. Moolya Testing's engineers have taken a lot of ownership and accountability for their deliverables, whether it's the planning, execution, or even in situations where you have to go to the market as soon as possible in a limited time. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

By looking at the business outcomes, the team understands what we want them to focus on. They stand out for their reliability, openness, and work excellence. We've been delighted with their contributions so far.

There is nothing that jumps out in terms of areas for improvement. 

The overall industry is moving quickly, with ChatGPT and a huge focus on AI. That is where Moolya Testing should look to evolve in terms of how it will affect them and the overall industry. They need to look at what the future problems might be and how to address them. They need to figure out how to ensure that their engineers and services focus on current and future issues.

Trust and transparency have been effective in our situation. The Moolya Testing team understands client requirements and wants to ensure the business is booming for its customers.

It was a disastrous experience with Moolya Testing.

Unprofessionalism and Time Wasted I feel compelled to share my recent experience with Moolya, and it is with great disappointment that I write this review. Our organization entered into a contract with Moolya, hoping for a professional and efficient partnership. However, their handling of the contract and the subsequent waste of 15-20 days has been nothing short of a nightmare. 

From the beginning, Moolya demonstrated a shocking level of unprofessionalism that is simply unacceptable in any business setting. They consistently failed to meet agreed-upon deadlines, which not only caused frustration but also resulted in a significant loss of time and resources for our organization. It is astounding how little regard they showed for the importance of timely execution. 

Communication with Moolya was an absolute nightmare. Our attempts to reach out for updates and clarification on the contract's status were met with silence or evasive responses that left us more confused than before. The complete lack of transparency and open communication demonstrated a complete disregard for our time and the gravity of the situation. 

It is clear that Moolya lacks basic professionalism in their interactions with clients. The consequences of their unprofessional approach and time wasted have been severe. We meticulously planned our operations around the expected timeline, allocating resources and personnel accordingly. 

However, Moolya's delays and inefficiencies significantly setback our operations, affecting our overall performance and profitability. This level of incompetence and disregard for their client's interests is simply inexcusable.

They’ve been responsive and have always worked as part of our team, so we’ve never had any issues with project management. They equally partner with us on every project and deliver everything on time. We mainly communicate via emails and regular meetings. For internal communications, we use Slack.

Their reliability is impressive. Whenever we work with developers from their side, they ensure that their work is executed on time and has the highest quality.

What challenges were you trying to address with Moolya Testing?

One of the core challenges we were looking to address was related to our customer data platform. We needed something beyond application testing, which is called data testing. Therefore, we started looking for service providers that could provide us with quality resources to help us perform data testing.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Moolya Testing has provided us with manual UI/UX testing, data testing, automation, and, most recently, security functional testing. They first started with manual UI/UX testing, and their scope slowly grew into white-box testing, which is app backend testing. After that, they started helping us with data testing. Now, they help us whenever we have automation needs.

We work with two lead engineers from Moolya Testing. Each one takes care of one of our two primary major product lines.

How did you come to work with Moolya Testing?

Moolya Testing has created a name for themselves in the startup ecosystem in Bangalore. Given that I’ve been part of the same ecosystem for almost a decade, I was already aware of their work. I also had a couple of good references from other colleagues, so we decided to have a first project with them. That’s how we started collaborating.

We started working together around July 2019, and it’s an ongoing collaboration.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Thanks to Moolya Testing, our quality has increased by 50%–60% in the past two years. As for bugs leaking into production, we initially had a very hard target; we wanted to have less than 20 bugs. Still, Moolya Testing has helped us reduce that number.

How did Moolya Testing perform from a project management standpoint?

Meeting deadlines is one of Moolya Testing’s strong points; they work like a startup, so they’re very organized and available. Moreover, they’re not great just in terms of speed; they’re also great in terms of quality.

As for project management tools, we use Atlassian products, such as Jira and Confluence, as our primary document management systems for all technical purposes, including ticketing. Additionally, we follow an agile sprints approach.

What did you find most impressive about them?

In the Indian software industry, confidence regarding QA services has always been a problem. People within the industry had the idea that QA engineers were software engineers that didn’t have enough qualifications to get an engineering or development job. However, Moolya Testing is different in that regard. They’re happy to be in charge of QA, and they’re proud of what they do, which is very important.

It would be great if Moolya Testing improved their reporting and the way they tell us how they’re achieving certain things.

Finding the right testing and QA engineering team is very important; Moolya Testing’s team definitely has the right qualities.

What challenge or opportunity were you trying to address with Moolya Testing?

As a startup, we had some challenges that other big companies could come across more easily. A quality output as requested by customers was vital for us, so we needed someone to provide testing services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Moolya Testing has worked with us on a pilot for one month. We’ve offloaded all of our QA responsibilities to them. With our team, Moolya Testing has brought in key simple and adaptable processes to change how our product requirements are considered and how that gets transferred to the development team.

They’ve brought out various test suites, including the proper technology to test everything we need. Finally, they’ve released it.

What is the team composition?

We have two sets of people working with us. One is an extended leadership who’s available on a demand basis. The other includes a technology expert, a functionality expert, a process expert, and managers. Additionally, they’ve situated a senior QA specialist with two budding QA engineers in our office full-time.

I met Moolya Testing’s leadership in a forum in San Francisco, California. We exchanged some notes and kept in touch. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have a health report and classify our product as modules and features. Every month, we track the health report of every module and feature to see if it’s going up or down, including functional interventions and technological changes. After Moolya Testing came in, all of our features and modules improved positively. We rate features 5–7 as extremely good and 0–3 as needing improvement. Currently, most of our features and modules are at five.

Moreover, we were convinced that Moolya Testing was the answer to all our problems within a week and a half. Our engagement has given us many good results. We’ve turned around our output time from three months to three weeks.

How did Moolya perform from a project management standpoint?

Their senior QA engineer is well-trained and adapted to manage daily activities and their performance. They have a timetable and calendars with activities, events, and tasks that need to be completed. Moolya Testing also keenly updates the other extended leadership on the project’s progress.

They use Coda for communication and project management, and we use ClickUp internally. The tools were easy to integrate, so we don’t have any data redundancy.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their experience in the startup ecosystem has made a lot of difference. Moolya Testing knows the dos and don’ts, so they’ve been very helpful. Moreover, they’ve placed the ideal people to bring the subject matter expertise, technology, and alignment to our business practices.

It’d be nice if they were located near our office, but their service is excellent.
