I am a UX Writer at OLX Group, working for the OLX horizontal. OLX is a marketplace where anyone can buy or sell just about anything, from electronics to fashion items, furniture, household goods, cars, real estate, among others.

I am currently responsible for reviewing and defining the original messages and product copy on the very recently rebranded OLX platforms, as well as for managing localization in 8 different languages.

We hired Mobee Dick to help us with localising the original English product copy into Polish.

 

 

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Mobee Dick had already been hired to help us on a previous project (Delivery). I had excellent feedback from my colleagues and we decided to ask for their help for the rebranding project.

Describe the project in detail and what their cost structure looked like.

The project consisted in localizing 10 different user flows (all user user journeys), Google Play and App Store description, and a couple of landing pages from English to Polish.

One of our biggest priorities was to make sure the new product copy reflected the new OLX brand's voice and tone. One UX Writer / Content Designer from Mobee Dick helped us with all of these translations.

 

 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How would you describe/assess the quality of their work?

Bartek from Mobee Dick was incredible to work with. He was responsive, met deadlines, made very valid suggestions, and asked pertinent questions. We chatted weekly and I really appreciated the fact that he came to me whenever he had a question about the copy or the context behind a certain flow or screen.

It really proved to me how dedicated he was to this project and I knew I would have nothing to worry about. Even if we did have a very tight deadline for such a huge project, Bartek was always very friendly and very calm, which made working with him a breeze.

The translations were perfectly done with a week to spare, which also gave us the chance to test the copy and make any necessary adjustments.

What impressed you about their services?

What most impressed me was the dedication behind this project. Bartek from Mobee Dick did much more than simply translating - he made suggestions and asked questions.

He very clearly understands this new discipline of UX Writing and its intricacies, which is something that is still very rare to find, especially in languages other than English.

I was also very impressed and thankful with Bartek's willingness to brainstorm, to help out with occasional on-the-spot translations, and to clarify the many intricacies of the Polish language - he even offered us a document that explained the different noun declensions, which is now used by our developers.

Finally, it really impressed me how quickly and easily Bartek learned to use our localisation tool. The fact that he translated directly on this tool saved me so much time.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I would just suggest more frequent status updates, however I only felt this was an improvement to be made at the beginning of the project. As we started working together, we also got in touch more frequently (it really made a very positive difference to have Bartek on our company's Slack) and status updates became more frequent.

Natalia Bienias from Mobee Dick conducted an intense 2-day long training for our team in the field of usability and interface design trends. This instructor was a perfect mix of smart preparation and energetic attitude, top-level knowledge and design skills.

The training was full of insights and tips shared from a practical perspective. Many examples made it really easy to follow and understand the topic. We gained a lot of value and real ideas on how to improve our products.

We worked with Natalia Bienias, now Head of Design at Mobee Dick.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We not only had acquired new knowledge and methods but also gained new insights that will benefit our everyday work. We can check the usability of our products and verify the services provided by agencies we cooperate with.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The instructor was great! Natalia worked very hard to give to the group the most opportunities and experiences she possibly could. We feel like we had as well-rounded education as we could have asked for given the short time period.

The curriculum was well-structured and well thought out which helped us to think through problems, and actually learn. Natalia encouraged discussion and pushed us to work on small solutions that could be the starting point for further work, beyond the training.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The training program was tailored to our needs. All discussed areas were connected to our products or specific elements of products and services from our portfolio.

Natalia explained, on clear examples from financial or related trade, every presented issue and it easier to transfer some ideas and solutions to our everyday work.

How did you select this vendor?

Another company created a website that unfortunately didn't fulfill our expectations, so we decided to start the whole process from scratch. After finding other websites we liked, both functionally and visually, we chose them.

The most important and difficult stage was the beginning. After a long interview and detailed workshops, we worked out a new communication strategy and began work on the website. The new strategy showed what we needed and how the new website should look.

Later, everything went smoothly and quickly. They presented nearly perfect designs that required only a few corrections. They heard us accurately and came to the right conclusions. We worked on both websites almost simultaneously, and are still building creative online communication solutions.

What was the team composition?

There are several people on our team. The team manager supervises everyone, plans each individual stage of our projects, consults with teams, gathers comments, and submits them to our project manager. This cooperation conveniently streamlines our workflow and shortens our task relocation time.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our website is modern, clear, and consistent with our overall communication strategy. Current and new customers still offer positive feedback about its usability, flow, and appearance. We gained new customers because of those improvements.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our project manager was competent and organized. We mainly communicated through telephone calls and conferences. The manager guarded deadlines, supervised the flow of information, and implemented every detail of our feedback and expectations.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Mobee Dick was open, creative, and flexible, and their team had interesting and innovative ideas. This kind of cooperation was completely new for us, but they worked with commitment and precision. We trusted them because they made huge changes in our company, and we appreciated that they cooperated during both large and small projects.

We studied worldwide UI trends and developed many mockups before finally settling on our design theme. Mobee Dick coordinated lab testing and helped us adjust our designs based on their results. We then started an agile development process where we accept newly demonstrated functionalities every two weeks. They handle both software integration and user acceptance testing for every sprint.

What was the team composition?

Mobee Dick provides a project manager, a UX designer, and a UI designer. We’re also utilizing their usual software development house.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project is still in progress, but we believe it’ll be a competitive way for people to buy groceries in our market. We look forward to enhancing it with additional functionalities we’re already working on.

The audit and testing reports clarified—early on—crucial issues. One large issue concerning navigation of the application redefined our application goal. We most appreciate their detailed recommendations concerning project changes; these allowed for fast implementation without the need for lengthy conceptual processes. With every new release, Mobee gradually implemented less crucial improvements.

Our work with their team was professional, especially in regards to their communication. They effectively explained certain choices during the testing process.

The Mobee team’s effective communication complemented their understanding of business perspectives and goals. They tested the application professionally and presented a clear report that highlighted key issues and topics for improvement.

We provided testing material that was not ideal and sometimes problematic. I could have expected some more push—from the agency side—to force us to prepare a better testing application. However, their team easily dealt with issues and minimized any consequential effects.

We were building a new product from scratch as a growth opportunity for the company in the Polish market. As most of the team members in the tech hub do not speak the language and the product offers a new concept on our platform, UX writing becomes a vital and also challenging task for us.

What were your goals for this project?

We would like to make sure that all communications we provide on the product are easy-to-understand and in an appropriate tone. The communication should also motivate the users to continue using the product.

They've been very quick and responsive every time they receive any request from us. Also, when there's any feedback or needs to change something, they are also very willing to adapt and make the changes accordingly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I am very impressed by how much they are willing to think and create communications to the users by putting themselves in the users' shoes. At the same time, they stay very flexible and can adapt to any needs that we have.
