I manage campaigns and communities for Silicon Labs, an Austin-based silicon company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire mixtape marketing?

We hired mixtape for a wide range of brand awareness projects, from video and interactive UX design to community branding.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to establish Silicon Labs not only as a thought-leader in internet-of-things (IoT) development, but also as a great place to work and a good corporate citizen.

How did you select this vendor?

I've known the co-founder for nearly 15 years, and they are a fantastic team to work with. mixtape has a stellar reputation and a solid portfolio. 

Describe the project in detail.

One of our most important projects was a pinewood derby—"Days of Thunderboard"—for local tech leaders, held to encourage community activation around one of our IoT development boards. The visual elements, online presence, and give-aways mixtape designed and developed gave the event a distinctive, “don’t miss” quality.  

What was the team composition?

A team of seasoned designers and art directors, with the co-founder as the creative lead, worked very closely with us to execute the event. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The feedback was instant and overwhelming. During the event, #thunderboard was a trending topic on Twitter and generated hundreds of tweets with accompanying photos and video.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

mixtape integrated as an extension of our team for seamless planning and execution.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We are continually astonished by mixtape's ability to present big ideas. They know our optimal performance areas, but they also know how and when to aim for goals outside of our comfort zone. Moreover, they excel at articulating very technical value propositions to a mainstream audience.
