What was the scope of their involvement?
MESH Interactive helped us with our digital marketing campaigns. They handled all marketing operations such as processes, procedures, coming up with tools, and essentially building the basis of our marketing department. Their team also did our web design and development.
What’s more, they also provided SEO services, content creation, and copywriting; it was a complete marketing setup, a framework, and workflows. They started at the very bottom of developing the personas for each one of our complicated product lines. MESH Interactive ended up doing a lot more than what we originally engaged them for.
Currently, we’re working on marketing automation. This includes email automation, setting up a chat function on our website, and handling nurture sequences and campaigns. The marketing strategy efforts have concluded. They built us up, and we’re now handling that in-house.

The quality of their services is exceptional. What really struck me the most about Bill and Jennifer was their ability to break down marketing and explain its value to our leadership. They helped our leadership — individuals who are in biotechnology, are very analytical, and not familiar with marketing — understand the importance and value of it.
Mesh Interactive really helped build our department from the ground up. They helped us push everybody to use our marketing strategy and accept the changes that made everything move smoother. Their work has created better progress within our company and impacted our brand. We’re stronger because of them and because we’ve followed those processes.

What challenge were you trying to address with MESH Interactive?
There were several challenges we were trying to address with MESH Interactive. At the time, we didn’t have a digital marketing strategy nor a strong website. They helped increase brand awareness for both our company and products while also finding ways to truncate our sales cycle.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
MESH Interactive supports us as a digital marketing partner. Their team understood that consumers were becoming more informed buyers, so they made sure that Aziyo Biologics wasn’t getting left behind in the trends.
Our main task was revamping our obsolete website so that could begin raising brand awareness. It was a pretty in-depth process that required them to learn our entire business. They interviewed physicians who were our external stakeholders as well as holding internal discussions with our management, sales reps, and more.
In the end, they had a decent understanding of our overall corporate strategy, producing customer personas for our 10 products. That included reports for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), direct-to-position consumers, and multiple types of physicians — all looking at how each individual used our products and what made them tick.
MESH Interactive used that discovery phase to develop and refine our positioning and messaging into a set of brand guidelines. Those guidelines made their way into the final website, which is now a way for consumers to easily educate themselves about our products and solutions.
What is the team composition?
I was aware of six teammates in total but regularly engaged with 3–4. They assigned one primary point of contact.
How did you come to work with MESH Interactive?
I reached out to a peer who was a digital marketing guru at another company. He’d just completed a digital marketing ramp up for his organization, so I emailed him asking for three recommendations for firms that could help me scale up our digital. MESH Interactive was the first to get back to me and seemed more engaged than the rest. I also liked that they were more dynamic and willing to take a few risks.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them around April 2019, and the work is still ongoing. There were multiple milestones in the first phase, and we completed the site by July 2020.
That being said, digital work is continuous and dynamic, so you have to keep doing content. My final recommendation before I left my position was to sign an ongoing contract with them and scale our marketing efforts.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Because they were willing to do all of the heavy lifting upfront, we were able to produce a top-notch final product. The graphic design on the site, unique icons, and layout all look great. It lends a crisp look to our brand, and I can see how the persona work influenced the final product. That shows a commitment to their process.
I also want to add that MESH Interactive essentially took a company with no online presence and gave us a way to continue attracting customers. If we’re doing SEO correctly and are focusing on how the public perceives us, our consumers are going to get the best idea of who we are.
It’s really about how our customers think of us. Even one of our competitors is starting to get nervous about some of our products, and that’s thanks to MESH Interactive’s marketing strategy.
I’ll be using them again at my new employer to redo our digital marketing strategy.
How did MESH Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?
They were flexible in terms of our collaboration tools, spending a lot of time initially to figure out the best way to communicate with me. That could be through in-person meetings or excel sheets.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The most important tactical thing that a marketer does is copywrite because that’s where we control the message. Their team is great at refining the copy through their edits so that it resonates better with our target audience. It’s a simple task but always the hardest to do.
Besides that, I’m impressed with the persona work that they’ve done. It was a massive effort that involved countless hours, which just shows their commitment to their research and process.
Finally, they’ve gone above and beyond what we’ve asked on multiple occasions. The team is flexible but knows when it’s appropriate to challenge a request when the customer is being too adamant about something that might not work. We ended up working cohesively together because they were so accommodating.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, nothing that they could’ve controlled. Dealing with a global pandemic is always a challenge, so we’ve never been able to meet them in-person. That’s not that their fault though, and we communicated via different channels.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you both agree on the best way to communicate changes, implementation, and design-related items. In the first round of feedback, they sent over a punch list of items they’d completed, which didn’t work for me. We discussed other ways to structure that communication, and they were flexible about it.

We don’t use any specific tools to communicate, but Jennifer is always quick to answer our questions, even on weekends and late at night. Our company is global, so we need to manage time zones when it comes to meeting deadlines and getting answers. It’s a challenge, but Jennifer has been there whenever these deadlines occur, even when it’s completely out of her time zone
What did you find most impressive about them?
I love MESH Interactive’s design work: it’s always beautiful and sophisticated. For example, when our CEO was to give a keynote address at a major industry trade show, we needed something really high-end that went beyond a simple PowerPoint. MESH Interactive took videos they created from our site and made them into an animated presentation. They integrated components such as a demo video of customers doing things live and putting our banner at the top of the video.
We also regularly need a sophisticated change to the website. For example, we recently connected our site to the sites of our distributors. It required careful detail work, paying attention to the placement of buy buttons and making sure every site went live at the same time. MESH Interactive handled that really smoothly so that it was done right the first time.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Everything I’ve asked them to do, they’ve done it. Working with our company can be difficult, but they do things without complaint and have a thorough understanding of our dynamics.

Most of the work has been around web properties. The biggest project was helping us establish our direct-to-patient website. We already had a corporate website in place. The site would be for direct patient communication, so we needed to establish ourselves as a credible source for patient information. The right content and structure needed to be in place. We needed to work on our SEO as well.

A few managers on my team work day-to-day with them. But I believe they have four or five people involved between project managers and developers.

MESH Interactive Agency built a great footprint for us. One of the traps companies fall into is that they go into engagements thinking they know exactly what they want. MESH Interactive Agency brings a type of strategic development to the table while working closely with their clients. They’re good at bringing ideas that I may not be thinking of.
Their skillset brings a creative spark. That’s a big advantage of bringing in a group like them.

They provide regular communication and transparency throughout their processes. They also let our team know what they need from us. The regular touchpoints allow us to give them feedback and insights to keep the work moving along. We do work with their team through a prototyping software where we can see their work live and make changes. That’s helpful to keep the projects on track.
What did you find most impressive about them?
About a year and a few months ago, our company decided that we wanted to go through an IPO process, which normally takes about six to nine months. We decided to accelerate it based on market conditions.
As part of that, we wanted to update our corporate website. A web development project like that can take about six months. MESH Interactive Agency pulled that off in about five weeks. To me, that’s a testament to their flexibility and agility. It was a home run. The deadline was coming at us, and MESH Interactive Agency hit it with flying colors.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of marketing and sales at Evolving Systems. We’re a telecom company.

What challenge were you trying to address with MESH Interactive Agency?
We were adding new services and shifting our company’s focus; we needed a new brand to reflect those changes. Our team engaged MESH Interactive Agency to advise our rebranding process. We wanted new messaging and a revamped website to better convey our new mission to customers and investors.

What was the scope of their involvement?
MESH Interactive Agency brainstormed with us to develop options for new brands and messaging. One exercise involved simplifying our message. They conducted multiple interviews with different groups in our company and consolidated their ideas into a single focus. We found this exercise extremely valuable.
Their team also provided multiple branding options for us over a few months, from which we chose one and finalized on it. MESH Interactive Agency also redesigned our website and ran account-based marketing and campaigns. They helped us set up HubSpot as our new inbound platform as well.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve seen a significant uptick in site traffic and brand awareness since our launch. Our HubSpot campaigns have received high-through rates on emails—as high as 20% or more—which we’re delighted to see. Some internal changes have led us to look at shifting our website and messaging again, but we’re overall highly satisfied with MESH Interactive Agency’s work.

The team was highly organized. They completed work diligently and responded to inquiries rapidly, even late at night or on the weekend. Having one point of contact on each side smoothed communication into a single stream of information, which we found exceptionally efficient and valuable.

Make sure that your side has everything it needs to begin a partnership. This includes adequate resources to interview as well as tools and solutions to maximize your time with MESH Interactive Agency. It’s also valuable for clients who lack graphic design and web resources to work with a vendor like MESH Interactive Agency to better understand limitations.
