Introduce your business and what you do there.
I was the chief marketing and operations officer for Edventure More (EDMO), an educational nonprofit organization.
What challenge were you trying to address with Mediacentric Inc.?
We offered in-person after-school programs, summer camps, and other similar services, but when COVID-19 hit, all of that had to suddenly stop. Thus, we quickly revamped our services and moved our programs to the online modality. Leveraging that situation, we wanted to expand our services nationwide, so Mediacentric helped us to very quickly ramp up efforts to reach out to more people.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We had a very strategic partnership with Mediacentric. Initially, I met with them to talk about our objectives and some of our challenges, including the limited awareness we had in California and other parts of the country, as we were only known in Northern California.
From there, we developed a strategy. Mediacentric presented their thoughts to us and did a comprehensive digital media plan, along with the budget and the projected ROI. Additionally, they explained all the things that we would need to set up to track the results.
The plan that they created included programmatic advertising so that people interested in certain topics could find our offerings when visiting that topic section on a digital newspaper. Additionally, they helped us with Google Ads and some social media efforts.
What is the team composition?
I worked mainly with Andi (VP Media Director). I also worked with Christina (Digital Media Director) and a person who handled the Google Grants and Ads that we were running.
How did you come to work with Mediacentric Inc.?
I had worked with Mediacentric in the past, so I knew that I could count on them to move quickly, and I also knew that their recommendations would be thorough and on target.
How much have you invested with them?
I don’t remember how much money we spent, but I know it was around the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
What is the status of this engagement?
I reached out to them in March 2020, right when COVID-19 hit, because the future of our organization was in danger. I left EDMO, but I know that they made some changes and hired another company to have more services under the same umbrella around mid-fall 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The first campaign that we launched was highly successful. It had acceptable cost curves, and we were reaching as many people as we had planned. Mediacentric was right on target and met the goals, so we did another plan for the next quarter. I can’t speak a lot about why the relationship ended, but I know that I would have continued working with them if I hadn’t left.
Mediacentric was fun to work with, and they always had a good sense of humor while being diplomatic. I liked working with them because they felt like a true partner and were willing to suggest new ideas. Our collaborative effort made our project stronger because their area of expertise was different than mine.
How did Mediacentric Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?
Mediacentric was terrific. They were very proactive in reaching out to me whenever an opportunity I should be considering presented itself, and they were always on schedule or ahead of schedule.
The team was knowledgeable and moved very quickly. Additionally, from the initial plan to the more detailed reports, all of their presentations were very clear. We communicated primarily via phone calls and email.
Mediacentric also used a very useful and thorough tool where I put all of my input regarding my objectives, audience, and past experiences. It was so comprehensive that it gave them everything I could possibly tell for them to come back with a great strategy.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Mediacentric didn’t just agree with what I said. If I presented something that didn’t make sense, they told me about it and were totally upfront with me. They were also very willing to work with me to find a middle ground when needed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything that Mediacentric could have improved on. I loved working with them, and I’m looking forward to the next opportunity to collaborate.

Media planning and buying for a biopharmaceutical manufacturing company that wanted to raise visibility with passive and active job candidates in the cell and gene therapy field
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I have worked with MediaCentric on and off for about 10 years when I have needed media planning and buying services.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We aligned with the client on objectives, budget and media planning parameters through the creation of a creative brief. Then MediaCentric issued an RFP of their media vendors and created a plan based on the agreed upon objectives. We presented the plan to the client, made adjustments as needed and received their buy-in.
My agency collaborated closely with MediaCentric to create the media assets, traffic the creative and manage the buy. MediaCentric worked to get the client authorization, insertion orders and other key items completed. They optimized and worked with their partners to optimize for Google Search, LinkedIn, and programmatic advertising.
They reported on metrics and key takeaways at the end of the campaign.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We drove ~5K visitors to the client's careers page during the campaign.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We work very closely with MediaCentric and communication is efficient, over email and text.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The MediaCentric team are great partners, they work super fast, which is great for clients who always have a sense of urgency, and come to the table with creative ideas. They are good at managing and reacting to client specific nuances.
I always have my finger on the pulse for what's happening with them. They are also really great about bringing us as the go-between along re: client needs and explaining the why behind their different suggestions.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Attention to detail (i.e. typos and little errors) sometimes happens in their media plans and presentations. We have a very high bar for our clients.
